Excluded systems & exclusions on type ratings Note: Eligibility for removal of an exclusion from an aircraft type rating is only established by first
having the affiliated exclusion removed from the category (e.g., a B1.1 with a propeller exclusion
would first need to gain the appropriate category training from an MTO before being able to undertake
type rating exclusion removal training for the propeller system).

Core Competence
Core units of competence for all DASR 66 MAML are:
MEA101, MEA103, MEA105, MEA107, MEA108, MEA109, MEA118, MEA301
Units of Competency for exclusion removal
Each exclusion category requires that either the relevant units of competence or missing
license syllabus elements be achieved to allow for a license limitation to be removed.
Both Defence and Civilian industries currently utilise the Aeroskills training package to
deliver MEA units of competence to achieve the DASR 66 Syllabi. Where an MEA unit is
prescribed and has been delivered by an approved CASA or DASA 147 Maintenance
Training Organisation, a valid statement of attainment and/ or qualification transcript must be
provided to support exclusion removal.
MEA units of competency can be found at https://training.gov.au/Training/Details/MEA
Defence provides competency based training in addition to Aeroskills units of competence to
achieve certain DASR66 modules and military-specific system modules. Where a military-
specific competency unit is prescribed and has been delivered by an approved CASA or
DASA 147 Maintenance Training Organisation, a valid statement of attainment and/or
qualification transcript must be provided to support exclusion removal.
Military-specific units of competency may be achieved through bespoke training courses or
delivered in conjunction with a type course against the DASR 66 Syllabus as follows:
SG3 Skill Grade - Service specific Trade supervisor course
SG3ATT Skill Grade 3- Service specific Advanced Technical Training
W&B Weight and Balance syllabus incorporated in type ratings
NDT Non Destructive Testing (Dye Penetrant only)
CAMERA Camera theory and practical delivered and assessed to address Module
53.2
SONAR Sonar theory and practical delivered and assessed to address Module
53.1
DEFEXO001 Work safely with Explosive Ordnance theory and practical delivered
and assessed to address Module 50

Code
This section should be read in conjunction with Specification S1000D Section 8.2.5
Maintained SNS - Air vehicle, engines and equipment.
Aircraft systems that are excluded from license privileges are presented with the name of
the system/sub system, and the assigned code/sub code listed in brackets, e.g:
Lighting (33) – where all sub systems are included.
Crew escape and safety (95-10,20,30,70) where a set of sub systems is
included
Specialised maintenance extensions are included, however need not be identified on a MAML as specialised maintenance can be achieved through the application of other
recognised standards.
