Over the last 3-4 years, there has been a growing demand in the class A market for shorter and smaller diesel motor homes. Motor homes that are easier to get into and drive, without sacrificing all of the luxury features and amenities offered in the luxury motor home products being offered today.

Newmar’s sales of 34’ and 37’ diesel motor homes have grown over the last couple of years. Newmar feels that this demand will only gain momentum over the next several years. We also understand that our current shorter diesel pushers, while meeting the needs of many traditional motor home enthusiasts, may in some cases fall short of what some customers really want in terms of size and a lower profile.

So over the last 24 months, Newmar has been busy developing just such a motor home. A luxury class A diesel motor home under 34 feet in length, and shorter in height than a Bay Star Sport by 2”, making this the lowest profile motor home Newmar builds. What’s more, this new coach has an entry where the first step is only 4” off the ground with the air dumped.

So Newmar was delighted to introduce to its dealers in Orlando, a new yet more compact luxury diesel pusher ….new from the ground up! THE 2018 NEW AIRE!!

Newmar and Freightliner partnered in the development of the New Aire to create an entirely new chassis upon which to build this product. The 2018 New Aire offers a lower profile, but still has 22” tires. It is powered by a Cummins ISB engine with 360 horsepower and side radiator. Other chassis features include V-Ride and independent front suspensions, a glass dash with digital instrumentation and push button ignition, and of course….Comfort Drive Steering!

Standard features on this first of a kind product include hardwood cabinets available in 4 stains offered with either matte or hi gloss finish. Also designed into this

new Newmar product are solid surface countertops, tile flooring all the way to the bedroom plus “More Floor”, power shades on all the windows as well as designer ceiling treatments with a cathedral ceiling in the bedroom.

The 2018 New Aire provides standard equipment like all-electric appliances including an induction cook top, hydronic heating and hot water system, power electrical cord and water hose reels, an 8.0 kw Onan generator with automatic gen start.

Entertainment is provided by Sony televisions, a Winegard Rayzar automatic digital TV Antenna, Bose Solo 5 sound bar, as well as a Xite dash radio with a Harman JBL 180 watt sound system and Rand McNally navigation….all standard. There are also various satellite dish options from which to choose.

Other luxury standard features include power baggage door locks with keyless entry, Silverleaf multiplex wiring system and a Girard 2000 power box awning. And yes…..it even has a secondary egress door with the new extendable ladder. And wait until you see the exterior storage!!

What’s truly incredible is that, with all this content packed into the 2018 New Aire, it has 0-40 and 0-60 acceleration times that are slightly quicker than a 43’ Dutch Star, and nearly identical to that of the Mountain Aire. Preliminary weights on the units here in Orlando show great carrying capacity, including weight numbers on the front and rear axles.

Be sure to check out the all-new 2018 New Aire on line at www.newmarcorp.com, or at your local Newmar dealer. Better yet, if you are attending the Kountry Klub International Rally in Sedalia, MO during the first week of October, you can see the 2018 New Aire for yourself in the product display. We all look forward to seeing you there!!

INTRODUCING THE ALL-NEW 2018 NEW AIRE!!

Fifty!! … it is hard to believe that it has been 50 years since Newmar first began building recreational vehicles back in 1968.

Newmar will commemorate and promote its 50th anniversary in several ways throughout the 2018 model year. First, Shannon Stover (Newmar’s Marketing Manager) and Element 3 (our marketing partner based in Indianapolis) created and produced a classic video that reinforces Newmar’s enduring heritage and strong core values. This video will be a new highlight on the Newmar website over the next year.

Second, Newmar marketing developed several print advertisements that highlight our company’s golden anniversary. These print ads will be seen in the Kountry Klub Konnection, Motorhome and FMCA magazines, as well as other RV industry trade publications.

Finally, in anticipation of celebrating 50 years in business, Newmar designed and created a special 50th anniversary badge that will be installed on every 2018 Newmar motor home manufactured over the next year. This new badge

will be prominently placed on each side of every unit, right next to the brand logo.

During the last week of April, Newmar hosted its dealers from around the U.S. and Canada to show them all the new and exciting changes and upgrades that have been engineered and designed into the 2018 Newmar products. I’d like to share a few of them with you now.

The Bay Star, Bay Star Sport and Essex are all new with life cycle changes. These changes include new front and rear caps, headlights & taillights, and new instrument panels in the cockpit area. In fact, the 2018 Essex features an all new glass dash with digital instrumentation, much like the one introduced in King Aire last year.

When it comes to new models, half of the 88 floor plans available in the 2018 Newmar product line-up are new. In fact, all of the new models available this year are Newmar originals created by Newmar’s Engineering and Floor Plan Teams. Here are 3 examples of these new floor plans.

Page 6: Exclusive Magazine For Owners Of Newmar Recreational Vehicles · 11/08/2018  · UNVEILING THE NEW 2018 MODELS! PO Box 30, Nappanee, IN 46550 VOL 31, NO 04, AUGUST/SEPTEMBER 2017

With feedback from prospective customers and dealers, Newmar is pleased to introduce the Canyon Star 3924, a new rear ramp model offering a patio deck. This rear patio Canyon Star features a new ramp design, sturdy support system, as well as railing and steps for safety and access. The new Canyon Star 3924 also offers a small refrigerator, sink and television just inside the rear cap facing the patio. This new floor plan is sure to be a big hit, meeting the wants and needs of many fun loving RV’ers!

Another unique new floor plan design created by Newmar is the 2018 Ventana 4046. This model offers a large 92” sofa in the front living area, and a bedroom featuring a “north – south” bed as well as an “island” just in front of the foot of the bed. The portion of the “island” facing the bed houses the large television. The other side, facing forward, offers a large vanity in addition to the one in the main bath area.

A common request recently has been for a smaller 40 foot version of the Mountain Aire. Taking this feedback into account, Newmar is excited to introduce here in Orlando the new Mountain Aire 4047. This new floor plan should be very familiar. It is a full wall slide bath and a half model very similar to the popular and successful 4018 model in the Dutch Star brand, but with a 500 h.p. engine, Silverleaf electronic monitoring system and air leveling and ride height controls not featured in Dutch Star…All in a smaller package!

Staying on the topic of floor plans, just when you thought the 4369 Ventana and Dutch Star models couldn’t be improved, these best sellers now offer a larger 50” X 34” residential shower for 2018.

Wi-Fi access is becoming more and more of a requirement to our customers. Well, either as a standard feature or as an option, there will be two ways that you can offer Wi-Fi access to your customers on every 2018 Newmar motor home.

Ranger Wi-Fi, which has been offered as an option in Newmar’s luxury brands for several years, allows the operator to access a nearby Wi-Fi service as one user, and run multiple electronic devices by using that internet service. This feature is available as an option on Newmar gas and core diesel products, and is now standard on Newmar’s 4 luxury motor home brands.

The new Winegard mobile “in motion” Wi-Fi is available on all 2018 Newmar products including all gas brands. This new device, with a wireless subscription available only from Winegard, essentially turns the motor home into its own wireless “hot spot”. This allows the user to run several devices remotely including streaming and downloading content very quickly and efficiently.

Kim Moore and Newmar Engineering have been busy again, making everything look fresh and even more attractive in all Newmar products for 2018. Here are just a few examples.

Empire Maple, and its hardwood cousin Manhattan Maple, have been the dark woods offered by Newmar for a many years. A new and warmer dark wood finish is being introduced to replace these cabinet options. The new finishes are called Calypso Glazed Maple and Bermuda Glazed Maple for the wrapped style and hardwood style version of this new cabinet stain. Several units in the Newmar product display will feature these new wood colors.

Another new cabinet feature offered in 2018 is the availability of high gloss finish on all optional wood colors in Dutch Star, Mountain Aire and London Aire. So now you and your customers can select a matte or, at an additional cost, a lustrous high gloss look on the cabinets in these 3 Newmar products.

Newmar and its diesel chassis suppliers have made some enhancements as well, making it even easier and more comfortable to drive and operate most any 2018 Newmar diesel motor home.

The 2018 Ventana LE and Ventana will feature suspended throttle and brake pedals. Electronic Stability Control, a new feature offered in 2017 on the London Aire, Essex and King Aire, has been added to the chassis specifications on the 2018 Mountain Aire.

Page 7: Exclusive Magazine For Owners Of Newmar Recreational Vehicles · 11/08/2018  · UNVEILING THE NEW 2018 MODELS! PO Box 30, Nappanee, IN 46550 VOL 31, NO 04, AUGUST/SEPTEMBER 2017

The Spartan chassis offered on Newmar’s 2018 luxury brands offer an auxiliary air compressor to assist with air leveling the coach when the engine is turned off. In addition, this auxiliary compressor will operate the rear engine access door on the King Aire.

The Cummins ISX 600 engine offered in the 2017 London Aire, Essex and King Aire has been renamed X15 and the engine is now rated at a higher 605 horsepower with no change to the torque rating.

Electrical changes include the relocation of the switch for the entry step cover on Newmar diesel products from the dash to the passenger side console. Wherever a Televator is available, the switch has moved to a location opposite the TV near the seating area. For added convenience, two USB outlets have been added near the driver’s seat and at each of the bunk beds in bunk models.

The showers in the 2018 Ventana and Dutch Star provide an Aqua View water miser system. Prior to turning on the shower to get hot water delivered, the user can turn a switch to recirculate the initial cooler water back to the fresh water tank while waiting for hot water to get to the shower head. When hot water is available and ready to flow into the shower, a blue light is illuminated. At that time, the user simply flips the switch back to redirect the water to flow into the shower. This new feature will save many gallons of valuable water, especially when dry camping.

Newmar has received rave reviews from customers regarding the supplemental egress doors introduced by Newmar over the last couple of years. For 2018, these doors are now standard in all Newmar diesel floor plans except Ventana LE. In addition, all supplemental egress doors will feature a vented window and a newly developed extendable ladder system for easier and safer exit from the motor home.

Finally, there are some new and very exciting options available on specific Newmar products for 2018.

On select Bay Star and Canyon Star floor plans, a new exterior kitchen option is now available for 2018. This outdoor kitchen includes a refrigerator, microwave oven, a sink and storage.

Flexsteel, in conjunction with Newmar, has developed a comfortable sofa that easily converts into bunk beds in seconds. This new optional furniture will be available in select models of Bay Star, Canyon Star, Ventana LE, Ventana and Dutch Star. This allows you the ability to have bunk beds on certain Newmar coaches without dedicating room inside the coach to an area just for bunk beds.

Optional radios in Newmar 2018 gas and core diesel brands feature Xite radios with 6” monitors and Rand McNally navigation. Similar options are available on Newmar’s 2018 luxury brands, but these offer larger monitors.

In the 2018 Newmar brands where “More Floor” is a standard feature, the option for heated floors will extend the heat out to the tiles in the slide in the bedroom.

New for 2018, the Xite HD 360 camera system is an available option on Essex and is the new standard camera system on King Aire.

The On Guard adaptive cruise and collision mitigation system replaces the optional Vorad system offered on Newmar’s four luxury brands. In addition, a “Mobile Eye” lane departure warning system is a new standard and only available on the King Aire in the Newmar line up. This warning system notifies the driver audibly, visually with an indicator light on the dash when he or she is approaching the lane marker, and then by vibrating the driver seat bottom when departing the lane.

The King Aire also features a button activated self-latching electric baggage doors system that eliminates the traditional chrome “paddle latches”. This new luggage door system makes it so much easier to open and close the doors, eliminating the need to slam them, and creates a smoother and cleaner looking profile up and down the sides of the King Aire.

This is by no means an all-inclusive list of changes to the Newmar products for 2018. To learn more about the changes to the 2018 Newmar product line up, you can go to our website at www.newmarcorp.com or visit your local Newmar dealer. Newmar and Transwest RV from Belton, Missouri will have the entire Newmar line up on display at the upcoming Kountry Klub International Rally to be held in Sedalia, Missouri on October 2-7, 2017.

CELEBRATIONS!!

This has been an exciting week of “Celebrations”!! We have had the honor of celebrating the 150th birthday for Canada! The combined Region 7 and Region 8 Rally in Shediac, New Brunswick was our location for a wonderful gathering of our Newmar family of Canadians and American celebrators. First, we had the 150th birthday for Canada on July 1. That was quickly followed by the celebration for the USA on July 4. What a week!! Our Canadian hosts, Emery & Jackie Melanson, with Patsy Gallant & Ron Allain, with the assist of the Region 8 Directors, Glen & Marg Bassindale, and Region 7 Directors, Bob & Jane Hadley, did indeed prove that not only is Shediac the Lobster Capitol but also the Newmar eating Capitol as well. Oh my, did we ever have delightful and delicious meals! The Hadley’s treated us with “Saugy” hot dogs….a Rhode Island special! The breakfast menu was outstanding and the dinners…..well let us just say….steak and LOBSTER!! They were kind enough to explain how to prepare the lobster to enjoy every little bit. BUT, I needed a bigger bib!

We also had a very delightful time visiting with our Virginia Wheels at the Misty Mountain campground in Greenwood, Virginia. John & Betty Warhol, Virginia State Directors, with Michael & Marcey Vreeland treated us to great food, nearby history, and warm fellowship. It was a large gathering and it is wonderful to see and get to know so many new members. It was especially exciting to get to know so many new Newmar members who were new owners!

On the way to the Shediac rally, we stopped in St. Andrews, New Brunswick – what a beautiful city and our campsite was right on the waterfront overlooking part of the bay of Fundy. The difference between the high and low tides in this area was about 27 feet. We drove across a sand bar at low tide to visit Minister Island. At high tide, that sandbar is about 10 feet under water – so you have to get out in about 4 hours or you will be trapped!

Be sure that you read more about these and many other rallies and gatherings and luncheons in the individual articles of these rally hosts. We have included a few color photos and once again, we encourage you to send your pictures in so Linda can get them in the Konnection. We look forward to you sharing your good times with your Newmar family. Our folks on the Alaska Caravan will have difficulty picking out the best pictures to send…..from what we hear they are having a grand time and have shared some excellent photos.

We will remain in Canada for a few more days and then head to Sedalia, Missouri to polish off some final details for our International Rally October 2-7, 2017. There are still a few 50 amp FHU remaining and many 30 amp FHU. For details, refer to the center section of this issue, on the Klub’s website, www.newmarkountryklub.com click on the “32nd International Rally” banner on the home page, and also in the Happenings monthly email sent to our members.

We have just announced that the International Rally for 2018 will be in Gillette, Wyoming the last week in June! For those who have never been to Gillette, the Camplex is a great facility with many 30 and 50 amp full hookups. There are some excellent tours in the area with beautiful scenery, fascinating history, and good food. We are planning for a special event caravan leaving from the International for the Calgary Stampede and the Canadian Rockies. Hopefully, we will offer some other options for Caravans in the near future so stay tuned - there will be more details on that event later.

Once again – we strongly encourage you to consider stepping up as Region 2 Directors if you live in that area. There are many benefits to doing that – you will be joining a team of great Regional Directors that work hard and play hard. There are benefits that cover your camp fees and fuel when travelling about your region as well as to the International rally and returning home. You have the additional benefit of getting a rebate on a new motor home if you purchase during that period. Please help us to keep the Klub strong and viable – give some of your time – you will be richly rewarded with some lifelong friendships and memories! The Klub is continuing to grow and we need chapters that these new members can join.

We certainly want to thank Kevin Bogan and John Sammut for their excellent articles in both the June and this issue detailing some of the exciting things going on at Newmar and the outstanding products announced for the 2018 model year. Remember – this year, we are celebrating to 50th anniversary of Newmar Corporation – that is just OUTSTANDING!

Many of our friends do not RV and have no idea what they are missing. We have really enjoyed our travels of the USA and Canada and the unique views, the beautiful sunsets and sunrises, the visual magic and relaxing sounds of the ocean, the local foods we have sampled and, of course, the wonderful folks we have met.

As we were relaxing at Jordans Pond in Acadia National Park in Maine, we sat with another couple just soaking in the view, and the blueberry scones. The lake below was beautiful as the late afternoon sun brought out the beauty of the moment of the lake situated among the Mountains. As we talked with the other couple about where we had been and what was next, an exchange of thoughts and words came to mind that will remain as she said “I feel like I am sitting on the Front Porch of America”. That phrase was perfect and totally captured the moment – That is the essence of what owning a Newmar is all about - Our travels in our Newmar put us “on the front porch of America”, and Canada, too!

Safe travels to you – take care, and we hope to see you in Sedalia.

PARKING/REGISTRATIONThis year we will have two levels of parking available: 50 amp full hookup and 30 amp full hookup. You will have the option of coming in on Friday or Saturday. There are several ways you can register. You can do so on line www.newmarkountryklub.com; or complete the registration forms found within this issue and mail or fax your reservation to the office (fax 574-773-5130). Sorry but we cannot take any phone reservations for the International Rally.

BOONDOCKINGIf you are scheduled to come in on Friday, September 29 we will have an area set up to boondock at the fairgrounds (dry camping/no power) on Thursday, September 28, for $10. If you boondock, we ask that you please stay out of the rally area so we can complete set-up and rally preparations.

PLEASE CHECK YOUR RESERVATION FORM BEFORE SENDINGWe receive many forms that are not filled out completely, or with incorrect credit card information or check amounts. Unfortunately if we have to try to reach you to clear up a problem it will delay your reservation being processed. Please be sure to provide your email and cell number on your form.

CARAVANSAll caravan reservations must be sent in together either by mail, fax or registering online. If doing online the caravan leader must contact Linda in the Klub office to supply her with a list of who is in the caravan and when they are all being submitted. As we have two options of parking sites please be sure everyone is registered for the same option and arrival dates. The Caravan will be processed after all reservations have been received. Once the caravan is processed we cannot add units to the group. Any questions give Linda a call at 877-639-5582 or email to [email protected].

SERVICE AT INTERNATIONAL RALLYWithin your reservation packet you will receive a Service Request form in a yellow envelope. Be sure to fill out the form and return to the service department by their deadline date. If you do not have time to mail by that date, bring paperwork to the rally and you will be processed as non-registered.

The service department once again wants to emphasize the benefits and importance of preregistering. First, preregistering often allows the techs to bring your needed parts to the rally; second, preregistering allows priority service check-in beginning the first morning; those who are not preregistered will report later that morning to register for service work.

In order to service as many customers as possible during the rally, the Service Department will prioritize their service in the following sequence:

1. Emergency customers will be serviced first. Emergency items are ONLY items that would prevent a coach from leaving the rally, or render a coach uninhabitable.

2. Warranty customers will be serviced in order of date of purchase, beginning with the most recent.

3. Out-of-warranty customers will also be serviced in order of date of purchase, beginning with the most recent. Newmar will offer this service at a reduced service rate plus reduced cost of parts.

PARTS DEPARTMENTThe Parts Department will bring an inventory of the more popular parts for you to purchase during the rally. Remember, if they do not have the part at the rally you can order it for later delivery. Start working on your list of parts needed.

HANDICAP & DIABETIC MEMBERSPlease make sure we are aware of your needs by indicating on your reservation form. This year the handicap parking will be in two areas. We have plenty of space in the 30 FHU area and are limited to 13 sites in the 50 FHU area. These will be reserved by order registered and paid for 50 FHU indicating handicap. For Handicap parking we will need a copy of your mirror hang tag or a letter from your doctor sent with your reservation.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR THE RALLYWithin this issue you will see an editorial listing areas we need help with. Not only will you be helping your fellow Klub members but it’s a great way to meet new friends. Call Linda in the Klub office, she will be glad to sign you up. Don’t forget your Region Directors and the Fulltimers’ Chapter are also looking for volunteers; please contact them direct for information on their duties.

RECEIVING MAIL AT THE RALLYYou can have mail sent to you during the rally. Please use this address for any mail or packages: Missouri State Fairgrounds, co/ Newmar Kountry Klub, Your name and Klub #, 2503 W 16th Street, Sedalia MO 65301. Please have it marked “Hold for Pickup”. Mailed should not be delivered before September 27th. Any items received after the rally will be returned to sender.

DISPLAY YOUR KLUB NUMBERSPlease be sure your Klub number is displayed as you come in to the rally so our parking crews can keep track of all our arrivals. If we need to locate your unit in the event of an emergency the visible numbers are the fastest way to find you. They are also necessary for the service department or any vendors who are working on your unit to locate you. Thanks for your cooperation.

Every day is a new day, and you'll never be able to find happiness if you don't move on. Carrie UnderwoodMoving on is exactly what we have been doing…and we found happiness all along the way! May began with a trip to the Oklahoma State Rally in Poteau, Oklahoma. Larry & Patsy Wood, Oklahoma State

Directors, did a great job of sharing happiness with not only their current members, but several new members as well. Getting there was a bit of a challenge though. If you recall, there was much rain in the area and we had not one, but two interstate detours due to high water. One gave us detour directions, the other did not. A nine-hour trip became a twelve-hour trip, but Larry & Patsy were there to meet us and provide us a meal over the campfire. Visiting the Spiro Indian Mounds was a treat for me as we sincerely enjoy native history. And Heavener Runestone Park was enlightening. I never guessed the Vikings could have found their way to Oklahoma long before other invaders, but the truth is there!

From there we traveled to Clarksville, Tennessee for the Tennessee State Rally with State Directors, Phil & Charlene Budd, who did an outstanding job of feeding us poor souls beyond our comfort zones! Once again, history was provided as we visited the Old Customs House and Ft. Donnellson. We enjoyed meeting old friends and making new friends in a lovely setting.

We ‘moved on’ to the Virginia State Rally in Greenwood, Virginia. Situated at the base of the Appalachian Mountains, we visited Monticello during a day of rain, but certainly enjoyed the tour. Once again, happiness reigned as we socialized with several long-time members and met with some new members. We even had the opportunity to speak with a couple who had bought a used Newmar and knew nothing about the Klub. Let’s all keep in mind that there are thousands of used units ‘moving on’ who might be interested in our Klub. Don’t hesitate to greet and meet other Newmar owners you encounter. Thanks to John & Betty Warhol, Virginia State Directors for a great rally!

We weren’t done yet! We had a few days to rest and moved to a campground on the side of the mountain. It was a peaceful setting, but perhaps too peaceful as there was no TV reception. A few days without the stress of national news was probably a good thing!

Next we moved to Harper’s Ferry, West Virginia for the West Virginia Traveling Montani chapter rally. This was once again a trip through the past. Harper’s Ferry is located at the convergence of the Potomac River and Shenandoah River and is now a part of the National Park Service. And most will remember that John Brown made an impact there, too. Our tour guide gave great information, so if you love history, put this on your calendar to visit. Thanks to Bill & Beth White for putting together this enjoyable rally.

INTERNATIONAL MEMBERS-AT-LARGERon & Wanda Llewellyn (16303-L)

We ‘moved on’ to our home in southeast Ohio for a few days to finish the garden, mow the lawn, attend our annual high school reunion and enjoy Memorial Day services and a picnic with our family.

Our next happiness was found at the Region 3 Rally in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Larry & Katie Harrington, Region 3 Directors, had some challenges to overcome with last minute changes, but they ate their flexibility cookies (ask Bonnie Krieger) and did a great job! To be honest, Hot Springs was not on our radar as a site to see. However, we found its history very enlightening. Viewing the town and valley from the tower and then touring the visitor’s center bathhouse brought to light the value of the area. We also enjoyed the Gangster Museum where our tour guide’s great-grandfather participated in the local activities…you’ll have to ‘move on’ and visit for yourself to get the details! Once again we were pleased that several new members were in attendance.

As we reflect on our travels, the concern last year with new members not joining seems to be improving. We spoke with first time attendees as each state and region rally. These are the next generation of the Newmar Kountry Klub. We need to make an effort to meet their expectations. Most have indicated they will be at the International Rally in Sedalia, Missouri We encourage you to reach out to these new attendees at all our rallies, get to know them and answer their questions.

Many chapters are still reporting that they are having trouble finding rally hosts. First and foremost, make your rallies as simple as possible. Scheduling a rally at a festival or event could make the planning easier. Perhaps members could have assignments: one couple could schedule the campground, another a meal and another a tour. Think outside the box. Perhaps they will volunteer if they only have one assignment for the rally. And, keep in mind that you don’t have to provide every meal!

The point is, to find happiness in what we do and where we go, we have to ‘move on.’ The way it always had been, is not necessarily as it always will be. Change can be good as long as we ‘move on.’ We want to encourage everyone to consider attending rallies outside your state or region. As you travel, there are Newmar family gathering somewhere. Check out the “Calendar of Events” and stop and visit your family along the way.

We look forward to finding happiness with more of you as we ‘move on’ around the USA and Canada. We are there to listen and offer advice. As always, we are available through our email [email protected], Ron at (740)707-7107 or Wanda at (740)707-2063.

Where has the first half of 2017 gone? It seems like every year the time goes by faster and faster. By the time you are reading this the 32nd Newmar International will be just a few weeks away in Sedalia, Missouri. The International begins on Monday, October 2nd with early parking on Friday, September 29th. For those of you who have been procrastinating there is still

time to register. Registration is open until Friday, September 15th. Our Region will be assisting with parking and registration in Sedalia and will again be responsible for parking and registration in 2018 at the 33rd International in Gillette, Wyoming.

There are still several rallies in our Region in 2017. The California Golden Bears have their rally in Vacaville, California August 22-26 at Vineyard RV Park. Expect to let your belt out a notch or two after this one. Colorado State has their rally in Fort Collins, Colorado at the Lakeside KOA September 14-18. Murray & Doris have some great activities planned and their rally dates work well for anyone traveling on east to the International. After the International the Arizona State Rally will be in Congress, Arizona; October 19-22 at Escapees North Ranch. Attend this rally and you can tell all your friends that you “were in Congress” once.

There are already a number of rallies scheduled for 2018. The California Golden Aires will have their rally at Indian Waters RV Resort in Indio, California; January 6-10. This will be a joint rally with California State. The “Gathering in the Desert” hosted by Ted & Ruth Ann Hindes will be in Quartzsite, Arizona January 17-22. This is dry camping about 5 miles or so south of town. Come out and join the fun and experience some of Ruth Ann’s great cooking. The Arizona Sun Catchers are returning to Benson, Arizona; April 4-9 at Cochise Terrace RV Resort. Rally is limited to the first 25 registered. New Mexico State will be holding the rally in Carlsbad, New Mexico; April 13-17. The California 49er’s has their rally planned for Pismo Sands RV Park in Oceano, California; April 23-27. Nevada State will be holding their rally at the fairgrounds in Winnemucca, Nevada towards the end of May. The Region 1 Rally is set for May 31 to June 4 at Alpen Rose RV Park in Durango, Colorado. Rally is limited to the first 25 registered. Please check the Konnection calendar online for more details on any of these.

We are looking for a couple to step up to fill the open positions of New Mexico Chili Peppers President and the Nevada Mother Lode Presidents. You must be a resident of the state. Also the end of the year Steve & Ursie Fisher will be stepping down as California State Directors so we are also looking for a couple to fill their shoes. We would like to thank them immensely for their 6+ years of dedicated service to the Klub. If you are interested in one of these positions please contact Marion & I. We’d be happy to discuss the duties and benefits of any of these positions you can contact us at [email protected] or 562-762-8853.

See you in Sedalia, Missouri

ARIZONA We hope you all had a wonderful summer. Soon we will be pointing the coach toward our Winter Digs. We try to move slowly on our migrations to and from Arizona. This trip we will be stopping in Sedalia for the International and then in Albuquerque for the Balloon Festival with the Newmar group and lastly in Congress, Arizona where we and the Marcum’s will host the 2017 Arizona NKK State Rally. Our twenty-one hundred mile migration south and west will take us about six weeks. This is about the same as it took us to get north last spring. We always look forward to seeing lots of NKK family along the way.

The Arizona State Rally will be at the Escapees North Ranch near Congress, Arizona. The dates are from October 19-22. We have many interesting activities planned. The facility is very adequate and very cooperative plus they gave us a great rally rate. The electric service will be thirty amps but this should be adequate to run one and sometimes two air conditioners if required that late in October. We will be touring Wickenburg and Prescott is also an easy drive away. See the details in the rally flier link on the NKK calendar. The registration deadline is September 1, 2017.

The Newmar “Gathering in the Desert” in Quartzsite will be hosted by Ruth Ann & me again this January 17-22, in the same location as past years about five miles south of Quartzsite. Watch for the flier and registration links in the NKK calendar. The calendar is getting busy with events in Region 1 for the spring with the Arizona Sun Catchers Rally on April 4-9, 2018 starting the Region 1 spring season followed by events progressing almost weekly through the 2018 International.

See you in Sedalia in October.Ted and Ruth Ann Hindes (19361)Arizona State Directors

CALIFORNIA GOLDEN BEARS Another wonderful Rally under our belt. The California 49ers did a great job on the rally in Paso Robles, California. Food was wonderful the best part for me always being I didn’t have to cook. Some of the events we totally enjoyed were the Estrela Warbird museum. The highlight being the cars and the restored and preserved military aircraft vehicles and memorabilia. Derby Wine Estates...great tour learning the history of the historic building and a great lunch in their restaurant. Then on to the Firestone Walker Brewing Company with tour and more history. So much better than just walking around on our own. On Wednesday, the on our own day, we went to Cambria.

Lovely town to just walk a little and see shops, art galleries, etc. Then over to the ocean for a picnic lunch at Shamel Park.

Now I can’t wait for the Golden Bears rally August 22-26 in Vacaville. Penny & Max have been busy researching things to do in around the area. On the list so far are SS Red Oak Victory ship Museum. Rosie the Riveter National Museum. The Jelly Belly factory, Travis Air Force Base, and the Budweiser Brewing Factory tour. And as always great food and a great menu plan by Max & Penny.

Safe travels down the road hope to see many of you again in Vacaville.Dalton and Janice Bilberry (20552)Vice Presidents [email protected] (530) 263 2732

CALIFORNIA 49ER’S It’s a wrap! The Newmar Kountry Klub California 49ers and joint California State rally has just finished as we write this note. The rally began during record setting heat in Paso Robles, California but that didn’t make much of a dent in the grand time had by all in attendance.

We had 28 RVs sign up for the rally at Wine Country RV Resort. We filled our days with tours of the local Estrella Warbird Museum, Firestone-Walker Brewery, Derby Winery and tasting room and “took the waters” at River Oaks Spa to enjoy the world famous healing mineral water that is abundant in Paso Robles. Many of our campers enjoyed our free day and traveled to the coastal beaches to cool off and enjoyed the art colony of Cambria, the elephant seals and Hearst Castle in San Simeon as well as the beaches and waterfront of Morro Bay.

Our last full day was topped off after dinner with the music of Andy Scott playing his 12 string guitar. We sang along with everything he played, he seemed to be a master of knowing his audience. We had so much fun that a conga line erupted and the line spiraled through the dining room with a potted plant in the lead and even our one member in his wheelchair joined in the fun.

We’d like to thank Sky River RV for sponsoring our BBQ dinner and bringing over two of their new Newmar’s for us to check out. Mark Stillians from Sky River gave us an update on the latest Newmar coaches as well as information on how Sky River is planning to continue to grow to meet the needs of us RVer’s. A big thank you also goes to Derby Winery, Firestone-Walker Brewery, for comping our tours, as well as Ursie & Steve Fisher, our California State Directors, for arranging for the State to treat us to the mineral springs. They also collected the raffle items and goodies for the welcome bags. Bill & Sue Conway created our rally face page. They did a stellar job of photographing and compiling the photos of all our campers so that we’ll be able to place all the names with all the faces in the future. A huge thank you goes to 49ers Vice Presidents, Dennis & Mari Cole. They planned and coordinated excursions as well as always being in the right places and the right times to lend a hand throughout the rally, they were fantastic. We appreciate each and every camper who jumped in to help however they could, many hands made for easy work.

One of the highlights for us was the number of newbies in attendance. We had 14 first time rally attendees who joined right in and participated in serving ice cream, set up and clean up at our meals. It was great getting to know them and we hope to continue to see them at future rallies. The Newmar Kountry Klub has the best people!

Next year’s 49ers rally is already in the works. It will be held in Oceano the last week in April, 2018. We guarantee the ocean breezes will make it a much cooler rally!See you down the road!Larry and Mary Roberts (21041)Presidents

NEVADA Here we are in the second half of 2017. Allow us to look back at the first half. We certainly have had some high points and some disappointments. Our disappointments have come when we could not make two Klub rallies in Region 1 and will be missing a third. It has always been hard for us to miss rallies. We know how much fun they are and the memories they make. We just can’t make them all. Balancing out our disappointment were the rallies we did make.

Starting with Ken & Leah Wilson’s (20332) Golden Aires Rally, their first and what a great job and unbelievable turnout. We can only smile as we think back to January and of course looking forward to the next Golden Aires’s rally. Then off to the “Gathering in the Desert” hosted by Ted & Ruth Ann Hindes (19361). We hosted the Nevada State Rally on the shores of Lake Mead. All that attended the rally made it so much fun for us. We were packed in a room made for forty skinny people, not forty six Klub members. We are happy to report; forty six friends left the rally.

On to the Sun Catchers/Full Timers’ rally, then to the Region 1 Rally in Hemet, California both being so much fun and more memories. The last rally we attended was the 49er Chapter Rally in Paso Robles, California hosted by Larry & Mary Roberts (21041) and cohosted by Dennis & Mari Cole (20370). Attending the rally were four retired fire fighters from the City of Los Angeles, also there were seven couples attending their first Kountry Klub rally. We enjoyed meeting each of you and look forward to spending more time with you at future Newmar Kountry Klub rallies.

As you read this we will be preparing to attend the Golden Bears Rally in Vacaville, California hosted by Penny and Max Nuttall (12230). From the rally we will be heading for the Klub’s International Rally and look forward to seeing you there. We will be at the Poker Run table, come by to help a local charity and win some money. Wishing you smooth roads and following winds,George and Cheryl Zellers (19163)Nevada State [email protected]

NEW MEXICOWe are getting excited about seeing everyone in Sedalia at the International Rally. Planning for the 2018 New Mexico State Rally is just beginning as we write this article at the end of June.

Carlsbad, New Mexico is our top choice so far and most likely will be mid-March, but that is as far as our planning has taken us – we will get more information out as we finalize plans. It surprised us when Marty sent out his email with all the rallies in Region 1 that are planned for 2018 already – so we are trying to play catch up.

The New Mexico Chile Peppers Chapter President’s office has been vacant for over a year, if you are interested in volunteering please contact us – we would love to see this chapter thrive. New blood and ideas would be most welcome.

It seems that each month we have a new Newmar member in the Kountry Klub that lives in New Mexico – we would love to have you join us at our rallies. If we have missed getting information out to you about the Chapter, accept our apology and please feel free to contact us about upcoming events or how to become involved with the Chapter.

Safe travels to all and we look forward to seeing you down the road.Carmen and Ron Ward (17906)New Mexico State Directors

22 WWW.NEWMARKOUNTRYKLUB.COM AUGUST / SEPTEMBER 2017

What a summer this has been. It seems like spring just arrived and it is already July. I know you will be reading this in August.

We have had a great t ime attending rall ies and doing some traveling to see family and friends. We spent three weeks in Michigan with family and what a change in weather. We have had

to have heat in the morning before showering several mornings. I suppose some of you think I am wimpy but, I am not going to shower with the temperature in the mid 40 degrees. How nice to be camping and turn on the heat in our Newmar then shower. Enough whining from me.

On June 7th, 2017 we met at Hot Springs , Arkansas to have the Region 3 Rally. 34 rigs joined the group and the fun began. The group rode the ducks, went shopping and had a good time. We continue to do the 4 F’s which are fun, friends, food and fellowship. A fun time was had playing a bean bag tournament which was won by Larry DeWitt and Ken Cox. Katie Harrington

and Don Grutzmacher placed second. The food was great, the weather was fantastic and a good time was had by all.

We will attend the Kansas State Rally hosted by Larry & Sherry DeWitt. This rally will be in mid-July so will have more information in the next issue of the Konnection. Also the Missouri State Rally will be the first of August hosted by Harold (Butch) & Joyce Fiebelman. We will have information about this in the next issue.

Don’t forget about the International Rally at Sedalia. Missouri October 2-7. Bob & Bonnie Krieger and Linda Feece have put together a great rally for us to enjoy.

Be sure to check out the upcoming Special Events in the Konnection. Some exciting events on the schedule.

REGION 3 // AR, KS, LA, MO, OK, TX

Region Directors :: Larry & Katie Harrington (17407-L)

Have a great summer, enjoy this wonderful country we have, be safe, stay healthy and keep God by your side.

See you down the road.

ARKANSASFun! Fun! Fun! That’s the best description I can come up relative to the REGION 3 RALLY, hosted by Directors, Larry & Katie Harrington. The Harrington’s planned and executed a really cool gathering in Hot Springs, Arkansas at the local KOA RV Park. Everything went off as planned...er, except one small faux pas! The RV Park at which we were to gather had some glitches; therefore, Mr. Larry, in his infinite wisdom quickly and efficiently (minimal panic!) obtained sufficient space and facilities for us! Folks, we had a ball! We learned a few new games (of which I lost!) and had lots of socializing! We were treated to a “Duck” ride (military amphibious vehicle) during which our gracious driver/guide attracted and fed a gaggle of geese! The driver also filled us in on some really awesome information concerning the history of Hot Springs National Park and the town as well. (“Scarface” Al Capone would come to H.S. to “get away” from the hustle and bustle of machine gun fire in Chicago! He would rent the entire fourth floor of the Arlington Hotel....so as to avoid anyone who might want to fit him with concrete boots!)

Don’t forget the Newmar Kountry Klub International Rally, to be held in Sedalia, Missouri on October 02-07.

Oh! I almost forgot! Larry Harrington has agreed to loan me his fully restored automobile so I can drive it to South Texas next winter! Talk about a nice guy! LOL!!!James and Ruth Ann Hairston (17646)Arkansas State Directors

KANSASThe Kansas Kountry Sunflowers second rally of 2017 was held May 4-7 at the Salina, Kansas KOA. Thank you to associate member, Joyce Brown, for hosting the rally. Joyce was not feeling well during this rally but still insisted on doing as much as she could. Since she no longer has a rig, she and her loyal service dog, Peru, stayed in one of the KOA cabins available at the campground. Attending the rally were three chapter couples, one associate member, and one guest couple, SkyMed Ambassadors, Stan & Mary Schwenke. Stan is a retired member of a famous acrobatic family act called The Bumpy Family. Stan showed us videos of his family appearing on the Ed Sullivan Show and The Bob Hope Show. As usual, we had fun at the rally eating, visiting, and throwing bean bags.

June 7-11 three rigs, including Sherry & I, attended the Region 3 Rally in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Larry & Katie Harrington put on a great rally even with the fact that the original intended RV Park a couple of weeks before the start of the rally decided that it couldn’t handle all the rigs. Larry & Katie were able to switch to the KOA. The people at this park were very accommodating and provided a meeting room which worked out just fine. I know this created a lot of extra stress and work for Larry & Katie, but they did a great job as usual. Also attending the rally was new Klub members, Bill & Brenda Harris, from Louisburg, Kanas. Sherry & I want to welcome them to the Klub and want them to know that they will always be welcome to join Kansas Kountry Sunflower Chapter.

July 13-16 Sherry & I had our Kansas State Rally at Stallbaumer RV Park in Seneca, Kansas. This article is being written before the rally to meet the August Konnection deadline so we will report on this rally next time.

August 24-27 Kip & Crystal French along with Randy and Anna Landreville will co-host a rally at Milford State Park at Milford Lake, Kansas. This is a neat park and pretty lake and we are looking forward to going. If you act quickly there may still be room for you at the campground. Kip & Crystal would be happy to hear from you.

September 14-17 Jim & Vickie Sturgeon are hosting a rally at The Capitol City KOA in Topeka, Kansas. If you will be in the area give them a call, there is always something fun to do in the Topeka area.

For contact information on the above mentioned rallies, refer to the “Calendar of Events” found in the back of this Konnection.

MISSOURIHere it is the first of July as we write this. Where is the summer going? Joyce & I are working our annual Lion’s Club four day carnival. This is our club’s fund raiser to take care of our 172 acre park and many other local activities the club supports.

Otherwise, the rally season is in full swing. The Missouri chapter had a successful May rally in Carthage, Missouri at Coachlight RV Campground. Then the Region 3 Rally in Hot Springs, Arkansas was well attended, Larry & Katie Harrington hosted another very successful and fun rally. We all enjoyed the camaraderie and, as usual, ate too much.

Our next rally is the State Rally in Maysville, Missouri from August 8-12. We already have 15 coaches signed up and the

deadline isn’t for another week. Looking forward to a fun time and the Harrington’s will be providing a free home-cooked meal as promised if the Missouri chapter added at least 7 new members.

After that we will be exercising, and getting ready for the International Rally here in Missouri. That way we can be sure to be able to enjoy the food we will again partake. If it sounds like a theme, it is true; we never go hungry.

So until we meet again on the road, happy trails.Harold and Joyce Fiebelman (13813-L)Missouri State Directors

OKLAHOMAWow! What a spring it has been. First we attended the Arkansas State Rally in Canton, Texas, where we had a great time even though hail, torrential rain, and a tornado came through on our last evening together. Arkansas State Directors, Ruth Ann & James Harrison, saw to it that dinner was served in spite of the power being off. Dinner by candlelight was actually a nice change. Games were played, prayers were offered, and eyes were tuned to the weather alerts on the phones. We were staying in an RV park a few miles from the main group, and when we returned to the park, people were being evacuated because of flash flooding. We spent the night with Larry’s brother about 45 minutes from Canton. Fortunately, no damage was done to the unit.

Then it was off to Poteau, Oklahoma, for our State Rally. We stayed at Long Lake RV Resort. It was a peaceful, beautiful location next to the water. Buffalo gathered on the slope near the motor homes. Our weather was perfect. We were happy to welcome 14 units and some first-time rally attendees who

seemed to fit right in as if they had been friends for years. It was fun getting acquainted. Special guests were our Members-at-Large, Ron & Wanda Llewellyn, and Region 3 Directors, Larry & Katie Harrington, Arkansas State Directors, James & Ruth Ann Hairston. One day we took a group trip to Spiro Mounds and learned that at one time the area was heavily populated with Native

Americans. Because of the central location, they had developed a system for trade and politics which might be compared to Washington D.C. today. We visited the Heavener Runestone another day. Believe it or not, Vikings actually landed and lived in the middle of Oklahoma. In fact, the Heavener Runestone is the only known Viking location in the United States.

After the Oklahoma Rally, our next trip was the Region 3 Rally in Hot Springs, Arkansas, hosted by Region Directors, Larry & Katie Harrington. The KOA had a meeting room which was just the right size for our group. They even prepared breakfast for our group. Of course, there was lots of delicious food at the other meals, too.

Remember the International Rally in Sedalia, Missouri, October 2-7. Come join us for lots of fun.

We are looking forward to the next event, whatever it may be.Larry and Patsy Wood (12255-L)Oklahoma State Directors

TEXASMore years ago, than I like to remember, I went to the University of Missouri and a trip to Sedalia and the Missouri State Fair was an annual event just prior to the start of early football practice. Close by is Whiteman Air Force Base, home of the Air Force’s B-2 Spirit Bomber. While at the Newmar International Rally you might see a rarely seen Stealth B-2, or flying wing, on the flight line or in the air. Again, this year Jane & I plan to host all Texas RVers attending the International. Be sure to look for date, time, and place announcements. We will be enjoying the rally with a new (to us) Newmar Canyon Star Motorhome after our Newmar Kountry Star became fodder for a gigantic marshmallow Roast.

You read about it and you hear people talk about it but never do you dream that one day your beautiful Kountry Star Motorhome will catch fire. You can’t believe that the rig will burn as quickly as it does. It happened so quickly we had little time to react. The truth is that we had no idea how much stuff we had stored in our Motorhome. Have you heard that your home owner’s insurance will cover items inside your coach? Maybe, but in Texas there is an automatic 1% deductible. Secondly, another hard lesson learned is that you will need receipts and pictures of personal items lost in the motorhome to file an insurance claim.Jim and Jane Thomas (15629)Texas State Directors

Our Northern group (NIKK) are planning a luncheon in August so we can all touch base before we go our separate ways for the winter. Due to health reasons, we didn’t have a State Rally this year, but we’ve got our thinking caps on for next year.

We hope to see you on the road, or at the International Rally in Sedalia, Missouri.Richard and Donna Ritchie (16254)Illinois State DirectorsDonna 847-804-4274Rich [email protected]

IOWAHi everyone! I hope you have enjoyed your summer so far. The season is slowly coming to an end. Time for our state rally, then our Iowa State Fair. Then school will start. It just seems like time is going so fast.

We finally got a Newmar dealer close to us. I’m hoping they sell like crazy, so we can recruit new members into our chapter. I’m sure a lot of you are having the same problem getting members. It seems like all the organizations are having trouble getting and keeping members. I know in our town, that is the case. We hope for better days to come.

Enjoy the rest of the summer, and look forward to the International Rally in October.Jack and Betty Moorman (16585)Iowa State DirectorsJack cell: 515-240-5872Betty cell: 515-230-9670Jack_betty127@hotmailcom

MINNESOTAGreetings from Minnesota. Our Official Minnesota Rally Season ended early this year. Our State Rally in June was our final summer rally of the year. We had a great time and enjoyed the beautiful Clemens/Munsinger Gardens and a very informative Stearns History Museum. The men were not gentlemen and beat the Ladies handily at Bean Bag Baseball.

As this is written we are looking forward to our Annual Reunion Dinner in Bloomington, July 26th at the Knights of Columbus Hall.

Joyce Korsten is also going to have a gathering at Hinckley again this year. Plan on meeting in Hinckley September 22-24.

NORTH DAKOTA/SOUTH DAKOTADel & I hosted the ND/SD State and Rushmore Roamers Chapter Rally June 12-15. The Bismarck KOA, 3720 Centennial Road, Bismarck, North Dakota was very accommodating. They had built a shed for Ceramics, which they let us use, because we were such a small group. It was much appreciated as it got us in and out of the wind and rain. Joe & Sharon Morrison from

While you are reading this, we are on our way to the Region 4 Rally is to be held August 14 – 17, at the Medora Campground in Medora, North Dakota. We will enjoy the Pitchfork Steak Fondue and Medora Musical under the Badland Sky in the 2,900 seat Burning Hills Amphitheatre. Tour Theodore

Region 4’s duties at the 32nd International Rally at the Missouri State Fairgrounds in Sedalia, Missouri from October 2-7 will be the same as last year in Pueblo, Colorado. We are proud to announce that George & Theresa Korycan from Wisconsin has volunteered to be the Seminar Team Leader and Richard & Donna Ritchie from Illinois will be the Team Leaders for the Arts & Crafts Contest and Sale. The Craft Show and Tell has been dropped due to lack of interest. Thank you all for stepping forward to help us out, we look forward to working with you again.

Sioux Falls, SD, Tom & Piquetta Heger of Underwood, ND and Billy & Geraldine Siercks from Souris, ND attended. We were disappointed that Arnold & Virginia Widmer from Oaks, ND were not able to join us, they had to cancel their registration because of health reasons. Keep them in your prayers, Virginia is dealing with cancer. We really missed you!

We toured the North Dakota Capitol Complex and Heritage Center on Tuesday morning. Held the 3rd Annual Holey Board Tournament with a single elimination. Del Nordstrom of Renner, SD took First Place and Billy Siercks of Souris, ND came in second. In the evening, we stopped at the Bismarck/Mandan Visitor Center to learn about the Battle of Burnt Boat Creek, The Far West on the Missouri River, and North Dakota Facts on our way down to the Lewis & Clark Riverboat Pizza Ride. It rained some while on the trip down the Missouri River, glad we were inside enjoying the pizza and view.

On Wednesday, we hopped on the Ft. Lincoln Trolley which took us down to the Fort Abraham Lincoln good thing the tracks were lined with trees, or I am not sure the trolley would have stayed on it because of the wind. We walked the grounds and toured the buildings. At Lieutenant Colonel George Armstrong Custer’s house, our tour guide Joshua (dressed in a uniform and spoke in the 1876 era) was excellent. Wednesday evening Wayne and Valerie Zwak of Bottineau, ND arrived just in time to join us for our Famous Dave’s Dinner in the comfort of Billy and Geraldine Siercks new London Aire. Thanks a million for your hospitality Billy & Geraldine.

Please note: We have scheduled the Region 4, ND/SD State & Rushmore Roamer Chapter Rally on June 4th through June 8th, 2018, in Spearfish, SD. Mark your calendars now. More information to come later.

Hope to see you at the 32nd International Rally in Sedalia, Missouri on October 2-7.Safe travels.

WISCONSINWe want to thank everyone that joined us at the State Rally in July. There was a good turnout for the rally and everyone seemed to have a great time. We had plenty of good food, which we always overdo on eating and some good time to share with everyone. We did a couple tours, one was at one of the State Patrol weight facilities and had a very good overview on truck weights, inspection methods for equipment requirements and driver requirements. We also toured the Point Brewery, which makes some of the best CREAM SODA and ROOTBEER, which we sampled. We also had a presentation by a couple from SKYMED along with a provided lunch.

We also had a new couple join us for their first rally, Rick & Sherry Berg of Green Bay. We want to thank them for sharing their time with the group and hope to have them join us in the future.

Some health updates for several of our members, Arne Olsen (3605) is doing well in an assisted living facility. Howard Gundrum (11974L) is doing well with his second knee replacement and was at our State Rally. Jim Eggert (15740) had a minor heart attack at our May rally and is now doing very well. We wish them a speedy recovery.

As you read this article some of us will be getting ready for the Region 4 Rally, it should be a great rally and we hope everyone safe travels.

The Northern Aires will be holding a Chapter Rally at the Rustic Barn Resort in Kieler, Wisconsin following the Region 4 Rally. It sounds like this will be another great rally hosted by George & Theresa Korycan (18963) and we want to thank them for hosting.

Anyone traveling to the International Rally should attempt to find others from Wisconsin and meet and greet them. As there is no caravan or parking together as a group, we hope to locate everyone and then have a gathering some afternoon with some refreshments and snacks. So, keep us posted on who you locate and their parking site number.Terry and Pat Bengtson (10831)Wisconsin State DirectorsTerry’s cell 480-215-1496Pat’s cell 480-262-0432

Using the statement “we have been busy” would be an understatement! We have been traveling with 20 other coaches on the Alaskan Caravan since June 6. We traveled many miles over many hours. Everyone needs to make this trip. You cannot grasp the beauty through pictures or words.

International Rally is fast approaching. If you have not registered, please do so. You don’t want to miss it. Please take time to volunteer while in attendance. Getting involved is the best way to meet people and get the most out of the rally.

Region 5 Rally in Williamsburg, Virginia is full, with 50 coaches registered, and a waiting list. Contact me if you want to be added to the list.

We were unable to attend the Peach State Krackers rally in Alabama, but I know that all who attended had a great time. Thanks to all that made this rally a success.

Wanda & I are saddened by the resignation of John & Betty Warhol as Virginia State Directors effective December 31. They have served with distinction for seven years. The Virginia Wheels members will certainly miss their leadership; however, I am certain that they will continue to be involved in the chapter. THANK YOU JOHN & BETTY!! Having said this, if you would like to be considered for the position of Virginia State Director please contact me.

We can be reached at [email protected]. Safe travels and we hope to see you soon.

FLORIDADeb & I are spending our summer in Connecticut visiting with family and friends. This has been a very eventful summer. We attended the New England Aires rally in Braintree, Vermont at Abel Mountain Campground along the banks of the White River. We celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary in Maine and best of all our son and daughter-in-law announced they were blessing us with our first grandchild. Our other son and his wife are in the process of building a new home so we have been doing a lot of advising (only if asked) about 50 amp hook-up requirements and water access. Not to mention parking space requirements.

The month of September had us heading west towards Sedalia, Missouri and the Newmar International Rally. Bill has been assigned to the golf cart shuttle. He will be looking for volunteer drivers for daily driving duties so if you have the time, a couple of hours at the most, so please sign up when you arrive. Cart drivers have a great opportunity to meet and greet Newmar folks from all parts of this great country.

Region Directors :: Gary & Wanda Smith (16540-L)

REGION 5 // AL, FL, GA, MS, NC, SC, TN, VA

The summer is winding down for those folks in the northern states and some of you will be starting your southerly trek towards the Sunshine State. We will be co-hosting the Rally in the Keys along with Ron & Wanda Llewellyn, Members-at-Large, during December. At his time the Keys rally is sold out but the Klub office has started a standby list. Be sure to check the “Calendar of Events” for rally information in or near your location. Whatever your plans please be safe in your travels.

See’ya round the campfire…Bill and Debbie Smith (15570)Florida State Directors

FLORIDA MANATEESDuring the summer, most Floridians escape to cooler climates. This year we are on the Alaska Yukon Caravan with 20 other coaches. If this caravan isn’t on your bucket list, it should be. In spite of limited power and full hookups, it is an experience like no other. It is definitely cooler and infinitely beautiful.

The next Manatee rally is in Punta Gorda at Alligator Park from November 7-11. Details are on the website and in the Konnection. The Manatees look forward to seeing old friends and making new ones so we invite all NKK members to join us.

And don’t forget the 32nd International Rally in Sedalia, Missouri from October 2-7. It is always a wonderful rally and a chance to see friends from other States and Canada.

Safe travels always. The best things are not things.Karen Burnette (16482)President

FLORIDA PELICANSThe summer and the Pelicans have spread to parts all over the country, from Alaska to Maine. As many of us bask in the cooler temperatures of the Northern states, we look forward to the many activities we have planned for our return to Florida. The monthly luncheons continue throughout the year although attendance is limited.

The arrangements for our November Welcome Back rally at Sun and Fun in Sarasota have been finalized.

We wish all our Newmar owners happy and safe travels. The Florida Pelicans would like to invite all of you to join us at any one of our rallies or luncheons if you are in the area. Happy trails to all. Bea Hamor (18907)President

FLORIDA SEA TURTLESHappy summer! The rains have started here in Florida so many Sea Turtles are out on the road by now! Some of us are headed up the East Coast to visit with friends and family. Others of us are headed out west to enjoy the different scenery out that way. Four couples have joined with other NKK members to travel to Alaska on the caravan. We have enjoyed seeing their pictures when there is internet connection and wish them safe travels. There are some Sea Turtles who will be traveling around Florida this summer to see places they have never toured in their own state. No matter where you are headed we wish you safe travels and look forward to seeing everyone in November at our rally in Orange City, Florida.

The Sea Turtles will be celebrating their 15th anniversary at that rally. In December we head to Silver Palms RV Resort in Okeechobee, Florida. If you are from out of the area, but find yourselves here during these months, please feel free to join us at these rallies. There are still a few sites left for December.

Hope to see you in Sedalia, MO and really looking forward to the International Rally in October.

Safe travels to all this summer! Remember - One of the great things about travel is that you find out how many good, kind people there are.Karen Terry (19880)President

GEORGIA PEACH STATE KRACKERSIt looks like we skipped spring and went straight into summer. As you read this article our summer rally at River Country Campground in Gadsden, Alabama has come and gone. Everyone had a great and relaxing time on the Coosa River.

Thanks to our hosts Tom & Marge Kunhart and Jim & Barb Watson for all their hard work in making this rally a memorable and fun time.

The Talladega guided tour was exciting and awesome to see. Our picnic lunch at Noccalula Falls Park was hot but beautiful. All enjoyed Barb’s famous Dutch Honey Syrup with pancakes for breakfast. The fellowship was outstanding. The pools nice and cool and relaxing. The scenic view of the river and all the boat traffic was entertaining. Card BINGO was a big hit along with many other games. Thanks to all who helped and came looking to have fun with all their Peach State Kracker bubbies.

See you all soon. Keep the faith,Gary and Tori Bray (19450)Presidents678-898-0219

CAROLINA’S (NC – SC)The Carolinas’ group is doing well! Both chapters are adding new members and we are pleased for our chapter Presidents. Many of our members are on the road and have traveled to some special destinations.

We are proud to say we purchased a new 2017 Dutch Star. In June, we made our first trip to Nappanee to get a computer desk installed. We love the new ride! The bad thing about getting a new RV, we had to clean out the old one. Boy! What a job!!

The Tarheel chapter had two luncheons in August. The first was in Troutman at Julia’s Tally House for the western half of the chapter. The second luncheon was held in Clayton for the eastern half of the chapter. Both luncheons were well attended.

Philip & I are co-hosting the Virginia/North Carolina/South Carolina Mayberry Rally in Mt. Airy, North Carolina from the 14-18 of September. We are going to check out Andy Griffins home town. Plenty of good fellowship and FUN!!

We leave the Mayberry rally headed for the International Rally in Sedalia, Missouri. Roger & Peggy Weeks, President and Secretary of the Palmetto Pals, are leading a group caravan to Sedalia. He has us stopping in some great places along the way.

Becky & I have volunteered to help setup the Parts Dept. at the Rally. Please sign up to spend some time with us in the parts department. We would love to have you for a 2-hour shift or more if possible.

After the International rally we will head for the Region 5 Rally in Williamsburg, Virginia in October. Both the Mayberry and the Williamsburg rally are sold out and have a waiting list.

All these rally miles will provide us a good ‘shake-down’ of our new coach. We look forward to seeing you at one or more of these rallies.

We are looking forward to making new friends and seeing our ole ones. HAPPY RVINPhilip Melvin and Becky Garner (10690)State Directors - The Carolinas (NC/SC)[email protected] - [email protected] - 336-269-7885

SOUTH CAROLINA PALMETTO PALSThe Pals members have started their summer travels as we have heard from several that were in different parts of the country already. In a week, we will travel to our site in Traverse Bay Resort in Traverse City, Michigan. Then in September we will meet our International Rally Caravan members in Nashville, Tennessee. We will travel two days to Branson and stay there for four days and then into the rally. We have five in the caravan and four more “tag alongs” in the group. We are looking forward to seeing the Fairgrounds now versus what it was when we attended the 2001 International Rally. We did not have full hookups and 50-amp service was not available then. We did have 850 members in attendance that year. We hope to see many of our old and new friends there.

We have finalized the rally co-hosts for the joint SC/NC “Christmas at the Beach” Rally in Myrtle Beach (December 5 to 8). Carl and Gayle Webber (Tarheels President & Secretary) and Peggy and Roger for South Carolina are the co-hosts. Philip Melvin and Becky Garner (Carolina Directors) have agreed to help.

Have healthy and safe travels.Roger and Peggy Weeks (4479) President and Secretary(864)710-0795 [email protected]

NORTH CAROLINA TARHEELSHey y’all! There must be some truth to the old saying, “Time flies when you’re having fun”. Gayle & I have sure had a LOT of fun traveling through these beautiful United States – PLUS London, Ireland and Scotland, but it’s hard to believe we are already in the third quarter of the year. I believe that calls for a Newmar party!

We’ll start with a couple of Member Lunches in August. Mark your calendar and plan to gather for lunch with your fellow NC Tarheels at Julia’s Talley House Restaurant in Troutman on the 16th and/or at McCall’s BBQ & Seafood Restaurant in Clayton on the 22nd. Both get-togethers start at 11:30 AM and are “Dutch Treat”. Please let us know which one(s) you plan to attend.

Gayle & I will be spending a week in our nation’s capital the first week of September before heading to the Virginia/North Carolina Rally in Mount Airy (Sept 14-18). From there, we

plan to spend a couple nights in Sevierville, Tennessee in route to Nashville to join the Weeks’ International Rally caravan. We have volunteered to help with new coach staging at Int’l, so we will abandon the rest of the caravan on Monday and move on to Sedalia. Speaking of the International Rally, there is still time to register if you haven’t done so. It’s going to be another amazing event!

Our North Carolina Tarheels have added some more new members. We are pleased to welcome Ronald & Gloria Odom (Concord, NC) and Don & Bootsie Pettigrew (Charlotte, NC). We look forward to meeting all of you soon.

As usual, please drop us a line to let us know what’s going on in your life. Where have you been and/or where are you going? Any new kids/grandkids expected? Have you found any new campgrounds that you would recommend – or recommend we avoid? Sharing these little tidbits help us all learn and grow!

That’s it for now. We hope to see each of you at one of the upcoming lunches, the Virginia/North Carolina Rally and/or the International Rally. It’s time to party!!

TENNESSEESedalia here we come! How about YOU? Wow, what a way to start wrapping up the summer that for Charlene & I has been a trip of a lifetime-2017 Newmar Alaska Caravan!

But, first a quick review of our Tennessee State Rally. We had a fantastic turnout with 31 folks in attendance. The best part was 6 coaches (12 NKK members) were first time attendees to a Newmar Rally. They came to check us out and we did not chase them away. Our Chapter 72 President, Sheryn Ward, signed up 6 couples to become Volunteer Kruiser chapter members. Way to go Sheryn. We thank NKK Members-at-Large, Ron & Wanda Llewellyn for joining us. They live a busy life crisscrossing the United States to meet NKK members and gather info to take to the NKK Klub Board of Directors. We were truly “Honored” to have them in attendance.

2017 Newmar Alaska Caravan…A Great Success because of the planning and execution of that plan by Wagon Masters, Steve & Karen Burnette. Our Region 5 Directors, Gary & Wanda Smith, Tail Gunners, made sure all the loose ends were taken care of, and that we all made it to the next campground. A well-managed Team Effort by four extraordinary folks. Thank you, Steve, Karen, Gary and Wanda, for the untold hours you spent on and for us, at home, before any of us hit the road to meet at Edmonton to start our 43-day adventure. We would be remiss in not thanking our International Directors, Bob & Bonnie Krieger, and Linda Feece for their behind the scenes work leading up to opening the registration for the caravan last November.

Sedalia…the last time Charlene & I were there was the 2001 NKK International Rally. We are so looking forward to the return and seeing all the folks we missed seeing last year at Pueblo. This year will again be a “Super Show”, a “Super Rally”. Again, the preplanning by our International Directors, Miss Linda, and all the Region Directors culminate in a rally you will remember forever.

We hope to see you all there. This may be an inside note, but for sure, several folks from the State Rally will get it…prepare for a Banana Split!!

Next year the International Rally will be June 24-30 in Gillette, Wyoming; Birthplace of the Tennessee Volunteer Kruisers Chapter 72. They formed at the 2000 International Rally-yes at Gillette. Thirteen couples agreed to form the first ever Tennessee Newmar Kountry Klub chapter, and yours truly was Chapter President and Charlene was Secretary/Treasurer. Over the years, age, deaths, and changing to a different coach manufacturer leaves Charlene & I the only ones of the original 13 who are still around. Enough of history…the important thing is to plan on attending next year. Two great Special Events are possibilities after Gillette so keep June and July open!

Rounding out the 2017 year we have two more great rallies, the first one is the Region 5 Rally in Williamsburg, Virginia the end of October. This rally has been sold out, but cancellations do happen. Contact Region 5 Director Gary Smith and get your name on a wait list.

The second rally is in November in Pigeon Forge. Our Volunteer Kruisers Chapter 72 will close out the season with a rally to enjoy Christmas at Dollywood. Past Chapter President Joe O’Connell will host, Charlene and I will help. Checkout the NKK website Calendar of Events for details and registration.

TENNESSEE VOLUNTEER KRUISERSHello and welcome to summer. At the time of the writing of this article, we have had plenty of mid-80-degree weather in Tennessee. Perfect weather for rolling that RV down the road to a new destination.

Our Tennessee State Rally, hosted by Phil & Charlene Budd was a fantastic success. We recruited 6 new member couples to our chapter. Please say “HELLO” to Butch & Martha Brock from Johnson City, TN, Don & Pam Cunningham from Gallatin, TN, Dale & Linda Francis from LaFollette, TN, Tom & Marge Kunhart from Madison, AL, Steve & Debbie Matthews from Monroe, GA and Joe & Bonnie Portera from Crossville, TN. We look forward to more camping adventures with our great membership and a detailed report from Phil & Charlene Budd (our State Directors) about their caravan to Alaska and the possibly still frozen north.

Just a last-minute reminder…If you are still planning on attending the 2017 International Rally in Sedalia, Missouri but have not registered yet, you need to register online at the NKK website ASAP! This looks to be another fun event and what better place to meet more friends that you haven’t met yet?

If you are still looking for a low-cost adventure, don’t forget about the few remaining “free weekend” camping dates. There are still 3 dates when you can take your campers to any National Park and camp for free. The remaining 2017 dates are: August 25 (National Park Service Birthday), September 30 (National Public Lands Day) and November 11 – 12 (Veterans Day Weekend). Enjoy!

VIRGINIAThirty-nine Virginia Wheels and Newmar coach owners had an enjoyable get together at the 2017 Virginia State Rally at Misty Mountain Camp Resort in Greenwood, Virginia. Betty & I were hosts, with Mike & Marcy Vreeland as co-host. We were happy to have International Directors, Bob & Bonnie Krieger, and Member-at-Large, Ron & Wanda Llewellyn, with us at this rally. We were pleased to welcome Walter & Christina Baskin, Jerry & Bonney Gardner, Tom & Gloria Rezentes, Dennis & Cheryl Ryan, and David & Judy Steverson as first time attendees. As seems to be the case for Virginia State Rallies, the weather was an issue with lots of rain on Friday, however, we were able to tour Monticello and have lunch there as planned. The food and fellowship was great as usual!

I want to remind everyone of the remaining events of this rally season which include the Virginia Wheels “Summer Gathering” at Chesapeake Bay Thousand Trails scheduled for August 3-20; the “TRI-STATE RALLY” at Mayberry Campground in Mt. Airy, North Carolina, September 14-18. The Newmar International Rally will be in Sedalia, Missouri, October 2-7. Hope to meet up with many Virginia Wheels before, during, and after the International Rally. And last but not least, the Region 5 Rally at American Heritage RV Park in Williamsburg, Virginia October 23-27.

Until next time we wish you good health and safe travels!! John and Betty Warhol (18190)Virginia State [email protected]

VIRGINIA WHEELSVi rg in ia Whee lers Wheel ing to 2017 NKK Adventures - Thank You, John & Betty Warhol, for your 7 years as our Virginia State Directors! Not only have you supported our NKK Virginia Wheels’ chapter, but you have provided us with fun-f i l led adventures at all our Virginia State rallies. Beginning with Luray’s Birthday Bash,

you have taken us to North Carolina, Williamsburg, Powhatan, Fredericksburg, Surry, and finally Greenwood. We’ve explored many areas along the way, made new friends, renewed friendships, and we have all enjoyed your fellowship.

Thanks for Everything!! Over 40 attendees enjoyed the Virginia State Rally, May 11-14 at Misty Mt. Camp Resort in Greenwood, Virginia. It was exciting to have 5 couples as 1st time attendees. It’s always fun to make new friends. In addition to touring Monticello, we had lots of food and fellowship. Thanks to the Warhol’s and Vreeland’s for hosting such a fun rally!

2017 offers more opportunities for our Virginia Wheels’ family: Virginia Wheelers may attend a “Y’All Come” Gathering at Chesapeake Bay TT in Gloucester, Virginia anytime between August 6-14. Enjoy Donk’s Theatre, Virginia’s Little Ole’ Opry on Saturday, August 12, as well as other adventures attendees will plan to do as the gathering unfolds.

Attend the exciting Tri-State Mayberry Rally at Mayberry Campground in Mt. Airy, North Carolina. September 14-18. Charlie & Deane Grebinger, Philip Melvin, & Becky Garner are planning many fun-filled activities for that rally.

The NKK International Rally in Sedalia, Missouri October 2-7, will be loaded with activities.

Region 5 Rally will be in Williamsburg, VA at American Heritage RV Resort October 23-27. Since this is the first time a Region 5 rally has been in Virginia, Virginians are excited to extend our southern hospitality to NKK members!

We’re looking forward to rallying with you in the future!Danny and Jeanette Templeton (17203)Presidents(540)[email protected]

39AUGUST / SEPTEMBER 2017 WWW.NEWMARKOUNTRYKLUB.COM

As we mentioned in our last article we were looking forward to seeing our Newmar family at this year’s rallies. We started off the season with the Michigan Aires and the Great Lakers in Frankenmuth. We had a great time and signed up a new member that we discovered in the campground parked right across the street.

I am so happy that the hosts of the rally invited them to breakfast. This gave us and the Michigan Aires President, Chuck and wife Michelle the opportunity to talk with them about the Klub. They are young and is working and she is in nursing school. This brings me to one of the important issues of growing your chapters. Please remember that we need younger members to step in as the older members start phasing out. If all of your chapter rallies for the season are the weekdays these people do not have a chance to join you unless their schedules are extremely flexible. So please keep this in mind when scheduling.

We stopped by the Buckeye rally in Plain City for the potluck and were excited to meet 3 new chapter members. Jim &Connie Boring, Rick Fox & Jeanne Abt, and Bob & Jeanie Lewis. After eating and making a couple of announcements we drove to Harpers Ferry, West Virginia for the Traveling Montani rally. We had a great time touring the National Park with a guide, and having a concert by a talented young man on the songs at the time of the revolution

We held our Region Rally in Indianapolis Indiana. It started out pretty unorganized as our main tour of the Indianapolis Speedway canceled the Thursday before and then we found out the Saturday before the ra l ly that the day we planned to spend downtown Indy there was a one day Strawberry Festival that about 10,000 people attend each year. With a lot of

scrambling we were able to reschedule the speedway and switched the downtown tours to another day. We had a great time taking the VIP tour of the Indy Speedway after hours. Many people kissed the bricks. We took a very long tour (it was only supposed to be one hour) of the Lucas Oil Stadium where the Colts play. Toured the State House where we found out that our Hoosier Kountry Klub President, Connie Ault, taught the current Governor in middle school. We played games and laughed a lot.

Region Directors :: Jerry and Phyllis Rose (10792-L)

REGION 6 // IN, KY, MI, OH, WVAfter touring the World War Museum, which has articles from all wars since WWI, Jerry said he was extremely impressed in the way that they had memorialized all of the veterans. We thank all who attended (we had 20 rigs) and helped to make this such a successful rally. The Konnection advertisement of our rally did bring us two units from outside our region, Mark & Lesleyanne Weiss from Tennessee, and Donald & Marcia McCubbin from Arizona. We are always saying get your rallies in the Konnection as soon as you can so other Klub members can join you if they are in the area.

At the time of writing this article we are packing to attend the Region 7 and 8 joint rally in Shediac, New Brunswick the end of June. We had planned to visit with Newmar friends, Barak & Valerie Stevens, and thought we would join them at the rally. So looking forward to going to a place we have never been. We have been searching the web to find out what we can and cannot take across the border and we hope we have it all correct.

After Canada we will attend the Michigan, Ohio and Indiana joint rally. At the end of July we are looking forward to attending the West Virginia State Rally at Beechfork State Park. August is really busy. We start out with and Indiana Rally, then the next week is the Michigan State Rally, followed by the Ohio State Rally the next week, and the last week of August we will be with the Bluegrass Kountry Roamers in Kentucky. INDIANA HOOSIER KOUNTRY KLUBOur rally season has begun! HKK joined Michigan at their rally in May, followed by our Region 6 Rally in June at Indianapolis, Indiana. Everyone had a great time, as we were led by our Region Directors (Jerry & Phyllis Rose) on tours to some of Indianapolis’s famous sites.

HKK will join up with Michigan and Ohio in July at Shipshewana, Indiana. Bob Combs is hosting a rally at Mississinewa Lake on August 1-3.

The Golden Corral in Kokomo on September 7th will be the site of our end of season luncheon. We will begin eating at 11:30, followed by a general meeting.

Be sure to contact me if you will be attending any of these functions. We would like to have an accurate count of rigs and people.

It’s always an enjoyment to be with fellow RVers as we travel to different areas of our region, several problems (rigs and the world-ha) are solved, many laughs heard and lots of good food eaten.

Hope to see you soon.Connie Ault (19315)President [email protected]

OHIOAs we write this article we are in beautiful Dexter, Maine with our beautiful family (3 Great Grandkids). Many kisses and hugs!!!

Our May Rally hosted by Donna & Steve White was very interesting and full of fun with 3 brand new Buckeye members attending (Boring, Lewis and Fox). The tour of CBS-TV Channel 10 in Columbus (arranged by Bob Lewis and son David) was a real treat and will be remembered by us all (we even got to play weather forecasters in front of that “GREEN” screen used in TV broadcasts). Thanks again to the White’s for the great start for our first Rally in 2017.

Then Phyllis & Jerry Rose worked very hard to make the Region 6 Rally in June a great success. It was very busy with lots to see - and a lot of walking. The highlight for many of us was the tour of the Indianapolis 500 Motor Speedway (and for some, “Kissing the Bricks” at the speedway Start/Finish line). To everyone’s surprise - we did not have one drop of rain the entire time.

When this Konnection article comes out in August, our State Rally, August 16-19, in Millersburg, Ohio, will be nearing the start. Interested?? We may still have some campsites available at Timbercrest RV Park. Give us a call quickly for last minute reservations and we will work you in for sure. There’s lots to do in Amish Country and our first ever “Mystery Tour”. See you all soon!!! Bye for now.

WEST VIRGINIAWe are penning this article after returning from the second great rally in a month. On the third weekend of May, members of the West Virginia Traveling Montani gathered in beautiful Harpers Ferry, in the eastern panhandle of West Virginia, for a busy weekend of exceptional weather, touring, and fun. We camped at the Harpers Ferry KOA, directly adjacent to the Harpers Ferry National Park.

On Friday, we boarded the shuttle to historical Old Town Harpers Ferry. A knowledgeable National Park historian gave us a guided tour of the town including the site of the oldest armory of the United States. Walking through town on the original bricks streets, we checked out museums, shops, historical sites, and enjoyed ice cream on a hot, humid day. This was followed by a good evening meal at the Anvil restaurant.

Saturday, we toured local shops, and of course, some of us had to check out the Gypsy Flea Market and a few other yard sales along the way. Our evening began with entertainment by a local historian, Rick Garland. In period costume, with his keyboard, he amazed us for two hours with his knowledge of musical history and songs through the Civil War, from both the Confederate and

Union points of view. Everyone enjoyed his stories and all the sing-a-longs. After the performance, and having worked up an appetite by singing, we dined in a local Cajun restaurant.

Sunday, we had a pancake and sausage breakfast, compliments of the KOA. We then said our good-byes and were soon on our way.

On the first week of June, we joined another West Virginia couple, John & Mary Knight; and NKK members from six other states, for the Region 6 Rally in Indianapolis. Region 6 Directors, Jerry & Phyllis Rose, organized a fun rally that included guided tours of the Indianapolis Speedway, the Scottish Rite Cathedral, the WWI Memorial, and the Indiana State Capitol. Attending a Rose’s Rally, you will always have good food, fun, games, and lively conversation. Everyone enjoyed greeting old friends and making new ones.

Our West Virginia State Rally is scheduled for the third weekend of July. We hope you joined us for another fun rally. In August, we are planning a rally at the Marshall County Fairgrounds in Moundsville, West Virginia. Details are available in the Klub Calendar section of the NKK website. We would like to thank everyone who has helped make our year a success, and look forward to camping with even more NKK members in the future.Bill and Beth White (20471)West Virginia State [email protected]

Haven’t participated in a Poker Run before you say? That’s no problem, it is simple and a lot of fun. Anyone who wants to participate will pay $5.00 per person to play and will have a chance to win one of 10 cash prizes. In addition, a portion of all money collected will be donated to a local

charity.

There will be 5 locations every participant will need to visit in order to receive a sealed envelope containing one playing card. The plan is to have all the locations on the fairgrounds or close by so participants won’t have to travel too far to get their cards. Participants will need to wear their Newmar name badges in order to receive their cards. After visiting each location and gathering all 5 cards you will simply take your cards back to where you signed up, have your envelopes opened and your poker hand established. Best

hands win. What could be easier than that?

Signups will take place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday September 29, 30 and October 1 from 9 am to 2 pm in the registration area and you will need to turn in your 5 unopened envelopes prior

to 2 pm on Wednesday, October 4.

Region Directors :: Bob and Jane Hadley (16789)

REGION 7 // CT, DC, DE, MA, MD, ME, NH, NJ, NY, PA, RI, VT

Greetings from Region 7. Rally season is here in Region 7. In May we attended the New England Aires Rally in Moodus, Connecticut. Great rally thanks to our hosts Bill & Jeannie Silvester. Lots of fun at a new campground for us and thanks to Bob Hadley’s culinary skills with a dutch oven over a camp fire a cherry cobbler was

enjoyed by all.

Home for about a week and it was off to the New England States Rally in Bernardston, Massachusetts. A great place to hold a rally. Thank you George & Cathy Keith for another great rally. A little chilly weather wise but a campfire was always burning for us to warm our toes and sit and chat about almost anything.

A week later again we were off to Mechanicville, New York for an organizational rally to start up a new chapter in eastern New York. Thanks to the Alguire’s for a wonderful and entertaining rally. Rides up the Hudson River through the locks and great music after dinner was enjoyed by all who attended. The Alguire’s have a beautiful piece of property right on the Hudson River and were very gracious to share it with us.

Yes!! We have a new Chapter in Eastern New York. It was unanimous to call the chapter the Hudson Aires and new chapter officers were voted in. We have many new members in the immediate area and all are very willing to get this chapter up and running.

As this article is being written we are in Shediac, New Brunswick, Canada for our joint Region 7 & 8 Rally. We have 24 rigs here and all enjoying the hospitality of the Aurum Kountry Travelers. Many thanks to our neighbors to the north for sharing their 150th Canadian Anniversary with us. The Canadian flags are flying everywhere in celebration of this event. More to come in next Konnection issue.

On our way back to Rhode Island we will be stopping in Vermont for the New England Aires Rally in Braintree, Vermont at the Abel Mountain Campground. Our rally hosts presidents Brad

& Barb Wright have put a lot of effort and time in finding a new rally venue and this sounds like a good one. Before you know it we will be traveling to Sedalia, Missouri for the 2017 International Rally. So if you have not signed up there are openings and if you have a buddy who would like to share in a Newmar rally sign them up too! So much to see and do in the area. Hope to see many of our Region 7 members there!

Hey--- Pennsylvania we still need a State Director. Please think about calling us and getting some info on what you need to do to be a state director. It’s a rewarding position and we will guide you through it. Give us a call.

As always we can be reached at [email protected] or Bob 401-808-9030 and Jane 401-808-9031

NEW ENGLAND STATESHello again from New England!! At this point, we have been to the New England Aires rally in Moodus, Connecticut, over Mother’s Day weekend. The rally was hosted by Billy & Jeannie Silvester, who again did a marvelous job. There were 11 rigs there and a great time was had by all, despite the rain. There were new members in attendance which were also first timers, we all enjoyed the campfire stories and friendship as well as learning more about their motor home and how things work.

We were in Bernardston Massachusetts in early June for our New England States Rally which had 10 rigs in attendance. There is a lot to see in that area and everyone got to go sightseeing while they were there. We were able to visit Diamond RV and learned that they are selling lots of new coaches and making some new relationships for future Klub members, the RV future is looking good.

We also traveled to Mechanicsville, New York to help set up a new chapter. The Hudson Aires chapter was formed. Now, again there is a chapter on the eastern side of New York. We met a great group of people, some new owners and some, whew just never knew about this great Klub. There will be great rallies from that chapter for sure. Thanks to John and Nancy Alguire for an excellent time in their yard on the Hudson River, and the great boat rides down through the Champlain Canal Lock #.

There has been positive response to mailings as well as some calls from new owners who are very interested in joining this Klub. The Klub is growing with excellent people.

The New England Aires rally in Braintree, Vermont was held July 20-23 this rally was hosted by Barb & Brad Wright. It was a great time as the Wright’s always do a great job.

While there are many rally sites being looked into, if anyone in New England knows of any new sites for rallies, please contact us to discuss these options, as we would love to have new places to go. Also anyone who would like to Host a rally, please contact us.

NEW JERSEYHello from the Garden State. The New Jersey State Garden Aires held a small rally in Cape May, New Jersey at the Camp May KOA. They are making great improvements at this campground. Sewer hookups now available for the longest pull-thru sites. They are also clearing out trees and putting in roads to create even more such sites. A group of us went bike riding around the historic town of Cape May. Enjoyed viewing the Victorian style homes and gardens in a slow relaxed manner.

The topic of helping others was discussed with the Garden Aires. We felt it important to try and give something back to the communities we visit and so a donation to a local food bank was made. Mike Agrati went out and bought a variety of non-perishable items which will be distributed to the local food banks within the county as needed.

Angela & I are planning on caravanning out to the International

with our friends, Mike & Barbara Agrati. As part of Region 7, we’ll be helping in the Vendor Information booth, so please stop by and say hello. This will be the first time I’ll have 4 plus weeks off in over 30 years. Can’t wait to get started on that journey.

As always, we can be reached via email at [email protected] if you have any New Jersey questions or comments. Bill and Angela Mannion (19246)New Jersey State Directors Cell: 917-494-5636

NEW YORKWe just had a rally at the home of John & Nancy Alguire where an Eastern New York Klub has been started. We would like to thank the Alguire’s for their hospitality and entertainment. The Hudson Aires is the name of the new chapter.

This was a great rally with starting a chapter, great boat rides, and of course great food and plenty of it. We had nine units there with two Newmar couples attending the rally for the meeting on Saturday.

Thanks goes out to John & Nancy Alguire, and Tom Hancock for organizing the rally which started last year in the planning stages. There are 24 members of the Hudson Aires. Elected officers are: President - John Svatek, Vice President - Clyde Pierce, Secretary - Diane Svatek and Treasurer- Linda Pierce.

Please contact John at: [email protected] to join the Hudson Aires, Call 518-928-6268.

The Laker’s had a middle of the week rally at Genesee County campground with good food great fellowship. The possibility of more rallies in mid-week has good potential. More campsites available at a lesser cost during the week and less conflict in planning and attending the rally.

Well we sure hope you have made plans to join us in Sedalia Missouri! As this was written registration is approx. 390 attending, but there is still room for more! A very historical area, Sedalia was founded in 1860 as a railroad town. It is now home to more than 20,000 residents.

Since 1899, Sedalia has been home to the Missouri State Fair and welcomes more than 400,000 visitors every August to the 3rd largest State Fairgrounds in the U. S. This area is also well known for their ragtime music, so if you enjoy trains, music and history, then Sedalia is the place to be.

Looking ahead, start pencilling in your calendar now for the Spring Rally in Ontario with the Muskoka Ramblers, May 25-27, 2018.

Next year International will be in Gillette Wyoming and will be taking place June 25-30, 2018. This is a great location and the facilities are wonderful. Known as the Energy Capital of the nation, Gillette is just a short drive to Devil’s Tower and Mount Rushmore. Start making your plans now to join us in Gillette.

Have you checked out the Special Events that are available? There is a new Calgary Stampede Special Event being scheduled following International! What better time to go. Watch the Konnection and the Web for upcoming registration information.

I saw a sign the other day that said, “Where ever you go no matter the weather always bring your own sunshine”. This was outside a fellow RV’er campsite at a RV park we visited recently. I decided to do a little research of my own and see who penned this quote and it turned out to be none other than Anthony J. D’Angelo, an American writer

who has a long list of quotes under his belt and a well-respected writer from what I could find out in my search. This would make for a good slogan for some of the rallies attended in the rain belt here in British Columbia.

The British Columbia Provincial Rally was set in a spectacular part of British Columbia amongst the towering mountains and hot pools of Fairmont Hot Springs Resort. Hosted by the British Columbia Provincial Directors Wayne & Doris Erickson, this was their first rally in their new position as provincial directors and their superb planning awarded the attendees with a great event. More info on this rally can be found below with the British Columbia provincial directors report with a great number of pictures including the group picture on the Region 9 Facebook page. The Region 9 Rally held in the hamlet of Irricanna, Alberta was attended by 22 coaches (41 members). Special thanks to all those who pitched in to make this a resounding rally. And a really big hearty thanks goes out to Midtown RV who sponsored the catered prime Alberta Beef dinner. Thanks to George, Kelvin and all the folks over at Midtown. Be sure to express your thanks next time you are in Midtown. A group photo was taken holding the “Thanks to Midtown” sign which was framed and will be presented to George & Kalvin by members Les Wyles & Dona Guertin. The rally was in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the local chapter. A great history of the chapter was given by long time members Ed & Verna Schmidt (8981) who have been members of the chapter from the beginning. Best wishes were provided via video from the Klub International Directors, Bob & Bonnie Krieger, Ron & Wanda Llewellyn, Members-at-Large as well a host of other Regional Directors. Pictures can be found on the Region 9 Facebook page.

There are a growing number of Region 9 members heading to the NKK international rally this year. At last count, it was up to 5 coaches. If you plan on attending, please let us know and we can see about getting all the region 9 members parked in same area.

We are pleased to report that the British Columbia Dogwood Chapter and Alberta Wild Rose Chapter were able to get all the directors positions filled for the 2018 year at their annual general meetings. A big bunch of red roses goes out to those who have stepped up to volunteer for these positions and for all they do for the Klub.

And while we are on the topic of GOOD news, it looks like the Manitoba Chapter will get some new interest with a lunch and meeting to be held Saturday August 26th possibly in Brandon, Manitoba but location has not been confirmed. Please check on the NKK web site under “Calendar of Events” for the exact location which should be posted by August 1st.

Region Directors :: Dave & Joanne Killey (16152-L)

Region 9 is still number one when it comes to the number of Facebook Friends. No other region even comes close. I hope to do another e blast doing invites for those sitting on the fence. Facebook is a great way to keep in touch with the friends made at rallies, find information from trusted Newmar members in all regions of the USA and Canada.

Joanne & I have been busy putting together details to present to the Bob & Bonnie Krieger, International Directors, to host a Calgary Stampede rally with Ron & Wanda Llewellyn. The Stampede starts July 6, 2018. More information will be available this fall with registration to start later this year. It is hoped the rally would spend up to 6 days at the Stampede then travel to other areas in the Canadian Rockies such as Banff, Icefields Parkway and Jasper.

The British Columbia Dogwood Chapter rally is set for September 8-10 at the Twin Lakes Golf & RV Park, Kaleden, British Columbia (20 minutes West of Penticton). Check the “Calendar of Events” for further information.

We hope you are enjoying your summer and are in the best of health and happiness. As always, our door is always open and you can contact us via email at [email protected] or cell 604-916-7767.

BRITISH COLUMBIAHello from sunny British Columbia. Summer is in full bloom here. We just returned from our fifth rally of 2017. The first three rallies were attended by 50+ to 500+ RVers.

The last two were on a smaller scale. The Fairmont Hot Springs Provincial Rally was the first rally that we as Provincial Directors organized. Many weeks were spent crunching numbers and worrying about this and that. We ended up with 27 people registered. One couple had to cancel at the last minute because of a family emergency. The happy campers were from British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba and one couple from Florida.

Some of the events we had were 9 holes of golf at Coys Par 3. Not an easy Par 3 with the finishing hole a 230 yard Par 3 uphill, but a lot of fun. While some of us were hitting the little white ball, the rest of the attendees were taking in the Farmers Market in Invermere. During the 3 days, numerous trips to the mineral hot springs were made by the group. Sunday we all went to the Arrowhead Brewing Company for a tour of their facility. It was very interesting and it was very evident why this business is growing by leaps and bounds.

The weather was on the cool side but a couple of the RVers brought out their propane fire pits and we all got cozy and enjoyed the dancing flames.

Many thanks to Region 9 Directors, Dave & Joanne Killey, British Columbia and Dogwood Klub Presidents, Robert & Theresa Fraser, for their help. A big shout out to all the attendees that chipped in when needed during the three days and to Don Bromley for doing such a great job of cooking the steaks donated by Midtown RV and to Robert Fraser and Dianne Block for cooking a mighty fine breakfast. On Monday morning we went on our way with most of us meeting again in Irricana for the Region 9 and Wild Rose Chapter Rally.

In closing we have heard the question asked “What’s in it for me if I join the Newmar Kountry Klub and local area Kountry Klub Chapters?” We always come away from a rally with new friends, new recipes, places to visit, tech tips from chats with fellow travellers and always great memories.

Travel safe and we will see you down the road.Wayne and Doris Erickson (20938)British Columbia Provincial [email protected] (please note this is a NEW email address)

Cancellation Policy For Region, State, Provincial Rallies

Due to the large number of late cancellations, the Kountry Klub hasexperiencedsignificantfinancial losses fromnon-refundablecommitments made during the planning stages.A new Region, State/Provincial Rally “Cancellation Policy” is being implemented.1) An administrative fee of $10/person will be charged. This fee will cover

costs associated with processing your rally registration and will be included in the rally fees as advertised.

2) Members who register for a rally and then:a) For whatever reason, cancel a minimum of 35 days prior to the start

of the rally will receive a full refund, less the administrative fee of $10/person.

b) Cancel 34 to 8 days prior to the start of a rally will be charged for any non-refundable commitments made on your behalf in addition to the $10/person fee.

c) Cancel 7 or less days prior to the start of a rally will receive No Refund on any portion of the rally fee paid.

3) Members who register for a rally and do not advise the Hosts that they will not be attending will receive no refund.

4) All refunds will be made at the conclusion of the rally.

PLEASE NOTE: Planning any rally requires long-term organization. Many service providers require non-refundable financial commitments. Because these deposits and financial commitments are often made well in advance of any rally, this policy becomes a necessity.

Please notify the Kountry Klub immediately if you have to cancel your trip. Cancellations will be accepted for Special Travel Events and Caravan Tours

on the following conditions:

a) A $25.00 per person cancellation fee will be charged anytime you cancel an event reservation.

b) For reservations cancelled 69 days to 30 days from the start of the event, you are responsible for all non-refundable portions of the financial commitments paid out by the Klub on your behalf for the event plus $25.00 per person cancellation fee.

c) If you cancel 29 days or less prior to the event, you will receive no refund until after the event and receive only that portion the Kountry Klub can recover. The $25.00 per person cancellation fee still applies.

d) Deposit must be with reservations and full payment must be to be confirmed.

Cancellation Policy applies to the following Events:• Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta October 11-15, 2017• Louisiana Cajun Caravan October 11-26, 2017• Rally in the Keys December 4-10, 2017• Tampa Supershow Rally January 16-21, 2018Please Note: The Kountry Klub must pay some non-refundable financial commitments and deposits well in advance of events. We cannot absorb losses on last minute cancellations, and we will no longer do so. These commitments make this cancellation policy a necessity. We thank you for your understanding.
