Position Description

Title Executive Director of Epic and Clinical Applications

Location Albuquerque, New Mexico

Responsible To Chief Information Officer

As part of the IT senior leadership team, this position provides an opportunity to lead a large team responsible for the adoption of Epic and other clinical systems in a large, integrated delivery system. The individual will be driving adoption and working with high level executives within the organization. Workflow, problem solving, and coaching and mentoring your team will be key components of this position. The Executive Director of Epic and Clinical Ancillary Applications is responsible for oversight and management of all clinical and ancillary applications in the inpatient and ambulatory setting. The Executive Director provides leadership including staff, strategic direction, budget management and development, and implementation and maintenance of these systems through Life Cycle Management methodology in a service-oriented manner. Key relationships include the Chief Nursing Officer, Chief Medical Information Officer, and the VP of Revenue Cycle. Interacts at all levels with PHS operational leadership and is a vital member of the IT Senior Leadership Team. About the position • IT organization of approximately 300 FTEs and 150 contractors • Position reports to the CIO • IT operating budget approximately $125 million with capital spend about $25 million • Epic fully implemented, including Healthy Planet • Position currently filled with a consultant • Will lead Epic optimization

Responsibilities • Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to a team of over 100 people including 2 Senior

Managers and 6 Managers • Engage customers throughout the organization and provide leadership on optimization • Performance Excellence - Establish departmental metrics/goals and objectives; report

department accomplishments and plans on a regular basis.

• Manage a budget of approximately $40-$50M • Compliance Excellence - Ensure compliance with all regulatory and security requirements

associated with system implementation and ongoing support • Operational Excellence - Direct, organize & control the planning, deployment and

maintenance of the Presbyterian Healthcare Services enterprise-wide software systems • Support and comply with IT systems management processes and metrics (i.e. problem

management, change management, configuration management, escalation management, release management, etc.)

Successful Candidates • Provide strong internal leadership and a vision around optimization • Mentor and coach employees • Help drive adoption of clinical systems • Effective communication with stakeholders and the ability to say “no” when appropriate

o Old Town - Albuquerque was established more than 300 years ago in the Old Town district. o Downtown - This area is home to the City’s nightlife. Live music, nightclubs, theaters and many dining options abound. Housing options range from classic Victorian homes to newly redeveloped urban lofts. Easy access to transportation makes Downtown a friendly work-live environment.

o Eastside - Situated near the foothills of the Sandia Mountains, housing options range from condos to multi-million dollar estates. There is plenty of open space for hiking, biking and walking your dog as well as breathtaking views of the mountains and City.

o North Valley/Los Ranchos/Corrales - Horse stables, farms and country living describes this area. Located along the banks of the Rio Grande amid the cottonwood trees and lush fields of alfalfa, this area is visually different from much of Albuquerque.

o Santa Fe – About an hour away from Albuquerque, Santa Fe is renowned for its Pueblo-style architecture and vibrant creative arts scene with over 300 galleries. The city is the oldest state capital in the US and the historic district’s crooked streets wind past adobe landmarks with a backdrop of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains.
