Careers through Reading Program
Our Year 5 students also completed their Careers
through Reading program with The University of
Newcastle last Friday. As a part of the completion of this
program, the students were presented with the
university-produced book, HOPE, written by Mr Matt
Lumb. If you look in the back of this book, there is an
acknowledgement to the students of Pelaw Main Public
School and their contributions to the book!
Year 6 Digital Day Out
Year 6 students will be participating in a Digital Day Out
at the University of Newcastle on Thursday, 13th October
(Week 1 next term). Notes were distributed last week,
asking for students to be privately transported. We have
now decided to take a bus to the University, at a cost of
$3 per traveller. Parents are strongly encouraged to
attend this excursion with their child. A separate note
will go home at the beginning of Term 4.
Reminder
Just remember that students are not directly supervised
by school staff at school until 8:45am each day, and the
office opens from 8:30am. Phone calls made to the office
before 8:30am may not be answered.

Excursion
Our Careers Day was so pleasing to the senses on Friday! It was so nice to see so many students dressed up in their career of choice and participating in the rotation of activities throughout the day. It was also pleasing and re-assuring to hear that all of our presenters had very positive comments about the behaviour and positive engagement of the students throughout the day. A wonderful acknowledgement of our beautiful students! Thank you to the staff, particularly Mrs McAllister, for coordinating this Life and Career Skills experience.
