Nota: Os adjectivos mais curtos têm regras quanto à terminação no comparativo e no superlativo:
- Adjectivos terminados em consoante + y – substitui-se o y por i e acrescenta-se –er (comparativo) e –est (superlativo). Ex. happy – happier – happiest
- Adjectivos terminados em consoante, vogal, consoante – dobra-se a consoante final antes de colocar as terminações. Ex. fat – fatter – fattest
- Adjectivos terminados em –e – é só acrescentar –r (comparativo) ou –st (superlativo). Ex. nice – nicer – nicest
