Depending on requirements,Venti Oelde manufactures itsindustrial filters in galvanised, painted or in stainless-steelversions while always main-taining a minimum thicknessof 3 mm for the walls of thehousing. The extremely robustdesigns prove their worth ona daily basis in numerousindustrial sectors, for examplein the mineral processingindustry, the wood industry, inmetalworking and processingindustries as well as in recy-cling.

Industrial filters are built usinga sophisticated modular technology consisting of bentand bolted wall components. If the filter must be air-tight,the inner joints can be welded. The industrial filters are suit-able for installation both in -doors and out. Available in avariety of heights, they aredesigned for differing lengthsof filter bag and a variety ofpressure levels. Our snap ringfixtures form a particularly air-tight seal. They press the filterbag firmly into the opening ofthe bag bottom, providing agood seal. The double beadalso prevents assemblyerrors.

Depending on the product andthe process, the cleaning offilter bags is activated eitherat regular intervals, or on thebasis of pressure difference,in part with pulse pressurecontrol. A brief, powerful pulseof compressed air dislodgesthe filter cake from the bagand transports it to the hopperto be discharged. The separat-ed material is collected in thehopper and is discharged via a trough worm conveyor androtary airlock or via doublependulum flaps. For smallquantities, the dust can bedischarged into dustbins orcontainers positioned under-neath the outlet.

Maintenance is particularlyeasy when it comes to ex -changing the filter bags with astandard diameter of 160 mm.This is done via the verticalexit in the area of the filterhead.

Our special versions are asdifferent as the requirements:

• For protection from theweather when changing filter bags, a penthouse is a good idea, especially forlarger filter systems.

• We construct pressure-shock resistant filters withpressure venting conformingto VDI 3673 for the separation of flammableand explosive fine dusts.

• Wear protection materialsand wear protection plates, protect the endangeredareas of the filters fromabrasive dusts.

• For dusts in hot gases up to240°C, we equip our filterswith filter media suitable forhigh temperatures. Weallow for significant thermalexpansion by taking appro-priate design measures andby selecting suitable valvesand electrical components.Naturally, the filters arethermally insulated.

• To avoid adhesion andblockages with lightweight, fibrous materials, we enlargethe filter bag spacing andadditionally include cleaningfor the space between thebags.

• An additional empty chamberserves to calm the gas forlarge quantities of dust. Here, a large part of thedust will separate out. Forsuspended dust we useoffline cleaning.

Highly variable reverse air and pulse filters for the processing of light-density materials

When filtering air containingbulky and/or fluffy fibrousmaterial, other parametersapply than for conventionaldust. The aim is to avoid dustcollecting in the spacesbetween the filter bags toensure a continuous dischargeof the filtered dust as well asto maintain a constant pressureloss in the filter. Venti Oeldehas developed special reverseair and pulse filters for theprocessing of light-densitymaterials in the wood, fibre, textile and paper industries. They work with air volumesfrom 10,000 m3 up to in excessof 250,000 m3 per hour and atmaximum temperatures of60°C. They guarantee trouble-free, continuous operation andcan be supplied to conform tothe ATEX 94/9/EU guidelines.

The standard modular units, which can be combined toform filter systems of any sizeand length, consist of a hopperpart with an integrated chaintrough conveyor (if required, also with a worm conveyor),centre sections available inthree heights which match thediffering filter bag lengths, anda filter head with an integratedreverse air or pulse cleaningsystem. By inserting intermedi-ate empty units to introducethe dusty air, we can achievean intensive pre-separation ofthe coarse dust and optimaldistribution of the air acrossthe filtering sections.

We supply two versions ofthese filters: single or doublerow, in a parallel, two-chamberdesign. The modular construc-tion of the reverse air filtermakes the positioning andassembly of the filter veryflexible. It is easy to extendthis by adding units.

Cleaning using reverse air orjet pulse, depending on theprocess, means that filter bagswith a length of up to 5.4 mcan be used. For reverse airfilters, a mobile reverse aircleaning unit moves within theclean air plenum of the filter, from filter bag row to filter bag row. The control system, which depends on the pressuredifference, reduces the air con-sumed here to the necessaryminimum. This needs-basedcleaning helps to protect thefilter media. For the reverse airprocess, process air is re-used. In this way, we canavoid problems due to frost, condensation and caking.Despite the large amount ofdust deposited on the filter

sleeves, the intensive reverseair cleaning achieves an excel-lent degree of dust separation. The energy used for cleaningis substantially reduced as nocompressed air is required. To clean challenging fibrousdusts, we do however use the jet pulse version. Here, aswell as the filter bags, thespaces between the bags inthe dust-laden gas area arealso cleaned.

The reverse air and pulse filters are extremely low maintenance. All the filtercomponents that need to beregularly inspected are easilyaccessible. The filter bags arereplaced from the clean-airside, away from the influencesof the weather.

Needs-based round and cyclone filterswith explosion protection

To separate large quantitiesof bulk materials, our robustand low-maintenance roundfilters with integrated cycloneseparators are tried and tested. They are used as finalseparators for pneumatic conveying systems.

We supply round and cyclonefilters tailored to your require-ments. We use a variety ofsheet thicknesses and materi-als such as stainless steeland highly wear-resistantsteel.

Venti Oelde produces thesefilters in a variety of types, amongst others, for mountingon top of bunkers, with a cleanair dome or with a cover. Anextended primary separatorcreates additional storagespace.

As a centrifugal separator witha tangential inlet, these filtersoffer the greatest possible primary separation. Pressureis carefully applied to the filterbags. The round shape of thehousing makes it very robust.

Pressure-shock-resistance upto 10 bar has been proven viatests with water pressure. Usein areas at risk of explosionconforms to ATEX guidelines94/9/EU. Pipelines with pres-sure relief baffles prevent thepressure wave from enteringdownstream equipment. Thedust-laden air ducts can bedecoupled with tested non-return valves. Despite all thesafety precautions, should it

still come to a dust explosion, the venting equipment willminimise the damage and theresulting system downtime.

Venti Oelde individuallyadapts the filters to the localcircumstances. The flexibleheight and filter diametersfrom 1150 mm to 4500 mm in our product range unterlinethis.

As standard, filter bags with a diameter of 160 mm areinstalled. We offer baglengths varying up to 5.5 m.

1011Compact cartridge jet filtersfor almost all types of dust

Cartridge jet filters are a special series of filters whichideally complement our com-prehensive range of dry filters.Cartridge jet filters can beused for the separation ofalmost all free-flowing dusts. They are suitable for installa-tion both indoors and out. Theuse of filter cartridges with alarge filter surface in a verysmall space is what makescartridge jet filters extremelycompact. For many dusts, thehigh degree of separationprovided by filter cartridges, enables the filtered air to bereturned to the working areas. In combination with silencerscartridge jet filters are extreme-ly quiet. These cost-effectivedust separators can be sup-plied with or without integratedfans.

One example of the use ofcartridge jet filters is in metalworking, where a lot of finedust is produced when grind-ing, cutting and cleaning. Here, they work well as inter-mittently operating central filters in combination with workprotection benches. These filters are also used in themineral processing industryas well as in the wood andplastics industries.

Venti Oelde makes cartridgejet filters in five sizes, for airflow volumes from 1,300 m3

to 10,200 m3 per hour.

To filter the exhausted, dust-laden air, we use star-shaped,folded filter cartridges, selectedaccording to the type of dust. The filter cartridges arecleaned using pulses of compressed air. The pulse ofair causes a nozzle set torotate. The compressed airthat is released evenly fromthe nozzles flushes and thoroughly cleans every foldin the filter cartridge. Theduration and frequency of thepulses can be individuallyadjusted using the electroniccontrol unit. The cleaningphases can be activated atregular intervals or can becontrolled by the pressure difference across the filter. The standard approach is forthe dust to be discharged intoa dustbin. It is also possibleto use a rotary airlock to discharge into containers, silosor bunkers. Depending on theamount of dust, cleaning canbe carried out most efficientlyduring work breaks or betweenshifts, when the fan is turnedoff.

The superior ROVAL pocket filter systemfor dry dust

The ROVAL, oval bag filterrange is a compact, space-saving and extremely efficientpocket filter system for theseparation of almost all dry,free-flowing dusts.

The oval filter bags areinstalled horizontally in thedust-laden gas plenum. Theyare clamped and sealedagainst the slotted wall fromthe clean air side. The advantage of oval filter bagsis that they keep their shape.Cleaning is supported by thevertical downflow to the bags.Short, powerful pressure pulses dislodge the dust cakefrom the filter surface. Thepulses come from the com-pressed air tanks, via thepropulsion jet pipes into theoval filter bags.

By carefully matching up filterarea, filter media and cleaningcycles, we achieve a highdegree of dust extraction. Allavailable textile filter mediacan be used.

Protection measures can beintegrated such as spark andfire extinguishing systems, as well as explosion venting, offering a high safety standard.

Our ROVAL filters can beeasily and quickly assembledon site, as they are factorypre-assembled, including thefitting of filter bags.

Low filter resistance and thesparing use of compressedair reduce operating costs.

Other plus points include theminimal maintenance require-ments and the user-friendlyfilter replacement. Filter bagmounting, inspection andmaintenance are very con-venient and easy, and can bedone horizontally, from theclean air side of the filter. Thanks to the large doorswhich swing out to the accessside, a few movements sufficeto swing the propulsion jetpipes to the side allowing thebag fixings to be undone.

Highly robust cyclone separators for all requirements

Today, we predominantly usecyclone separators whendealing with large amounts of material, as a primary sep-arator for exhaust and filtersystems, or even to separatesparks or droplets. They workwithout additional cleaningtechnology using centrifugalseparation. They function reliably, are low maintenanceand are insensitive to irregularmaterial flow. They are well-known for their robust opera-tion.

To achieve optimum separationefficiency, various models allowan adjustment to each set ofoperational circumstances(flow volume and level ofmaterial).

For customer-specific solutions,Venti Oelde offers solidly builtcyclone separators made of avariety of materials. On requestthey will be designed to bepressure-shock-resistant orcan be supplied with wearprotection.

Screening cyclones are aspecial design of cyclone.Screening cyclones serve toseparate fine dust fromcoarse materials. In the upperpart of the cyclone and hopper, there are built-in perforatedsheets which separate finedust from coarse, using centrifugal force and directedflows. The dust-laden airattaches itself to the perforatedsheet metal body . The finedust passes through the per-forated sheet into the spacebetween the sheet and thecyclone housing. The coarsedust is discharged via thematerial outlet .The finedust is sucked out through the connection and is fedto a filter system. The air, nowwith reduced dust content, leaves the cyclone via theimmersion pipe and theclean gas spiral to go tothe filter.

Wet scrubbers, venturi scrubbers and spray scrubbers for arduous conditions

Wet scrubbers are used inmetalworking, in foundries, inthe construction industry, in themineral processing industry;everywhere, where difficultdusts have to be exhausted. Our wet scrubbers performvery well under extreme conditions: if dust is sticky orvery moist; if hybrid mixturesoccur; if dust contains a lot ofsparks; if vapours and mistshave to be cleaned of solidparticles. Also, if materials areprocessed where there is arisk of explosion, but fabric filter plants cannot and maynot be used. A prerequisite is,however, that the solid particlescan be wetted. If the require-ments of the clean gas arehigh, their use is somewhatrestricted.

Venti Oelde manufactures wet scrubbers for flow volumesfrom 1,000 m3 to 50,000 m3

per hour.

As standard, we equip ourround wet scrubbers with threedifferent systems to dischargesludge. We can, however, alsodesign special solutions.

For special requirements,Venti Oelde has venturi scrub-bers and spray scrubbers. These scrubbers serve to pre-wet the dust and to reduce theamount of residual dust whenworking with large amounts ofmaterial.

The spray scrubber is a veryhigh-performance scrubbingsystem. It impresses throughits low pressure loss, lowwater consumption and anoptimised, two-stage watertreatment system. The cen-trifugal separation of coarsedust, fluff and solid particles is supplemented by intensivescrubbing of the fine dustcomponents in concentricallyarranged scrubbing zones. With very high concentrationsof fine dust in the unfilteredgas flow, an additional, exter-nal venturi module can beadded in front of the system. The legally required residualdust concentrations can bethus easily achieved.

The venturi scrubber is characterised by especiallyintense scrubbing in a venturi tube. Due to the highvelocity of the gas flow in theventuri throat, the injectedwashing liquid is convertedto a fine spray. In the venturitube diffuser, there is suchclose contact between thewater spray and the dustparticles, that the particlesare sufficiently wetted to becaptured by the liquid. Behindthe venturi tube, there is acentrifugal droplet separator. In this, the water dropletsentrained by the gas flow areeliminated together with thewet, fine dust particles. Thescrubbing water can be re-

used after being processedin a drum screen and slurryconveyor.

Pneumatic and mechanical conveying for large quantities and distances

To transport large quantities ofdust or chips, or to bridge largedistances, we have high- andmedium-pressure conveyorsystems in our product range. When sizing these systems,we take particular care toselect an energy-efficient andwear-protected, low-mainte-nance design. The decisiveadvantages result from the useof low cross-section pipes totransport the material. Thismeans that you only need aminimum volume of air and lowpower consumption for a high-capacity system.

Pneumatic conveyors repre-sent an interesting solution for the supply and disposal ofbulk materials during the production process. A widevariety of bulk materials canbe conveyed for storage orloading into silo stations.

Suitable options for disposalinclude replaceable containers, silo systems, press-container,big bags and loading ontotrucks. You may also considerdust transport over longer distances using vibrationtroughs, conveyor belts or afloor conveyor system.

Specialities – maximum flexibilitywith tailor-made solutions

The variety of industrialrequirements is matched bythe variety of our individuallytailored solutions.

Venti Oelde has developed acompact injection system forthe extraction of edge strips. This is ideal for the uninter-rupted pneumatic conveying ofcontinuously produced edgestrips to special containers. The edge strips from plasticor composite films as well aspaper are continuously takenaway, without tearing. Theunits, suitable as so-calledauxiliary systems for flexo-graphic or gravure printingmachines, make a functionaland reliable contribution tothe optimisation of processtechnology. It is even possibleto produce exhaust systemsfor the highest hazard levelEx-Zone 0, as defined byATEX.

Venti Oelde uses speciallyshaped impellers to conveythe material through an opti-mised pipework to a filter orcontainer. If the material to betransported is abrasive, thenVenti Oelde prevents wearfrom impacts and abrasion byhardfacing with tungsten orchrome carbides.

With cutting fans, we canshred endless material suchas edge strips which arise, forinstance, during the manufac-ture of paper, cardboard andfibre-boards. The fan’s designis dependent on the width ofthe edge strips, the roll-offspeed and the type and thick-ness of the material. The tensile strength and coating ofthe waste are also determinedand used in the calculations. The impeller blades are fittedwith replaceable cutters orsaw-strips, with which theendless strips are shredded.

Venti Oelde has developed arotary airlock that is bothpressure-shock-resistant andprevents flashovers. The air-lock has flexible sealing stripsand ensures that explosionsor fires are decoupled, forexample between filter systemsor separators and the nextpart of the conveyor system. It is suitable for large, high-volume quantities of material, such as arise when transport-ing MDF fibres. The rotary airlock has been tested andapproved as a protective system conforming to ATEXguidelines 94/9/EU for use inexplosion-hazard areas.

For the preliminary separationout of the airflow of materialswith varying coarseness,Venti Oelde has developedthe coarse material separator. This enables continuous oper-ation and material discharge. The air exhausted is cleanedin the downstream filter system.

The waste separated is thencompressed in bailing or container presses. Dust fromfilter systems is collected inbig bags or is compressedinto briquettes or pellets.

As a supplement to conven-tional jet cleaning, we offeradditional cleaning to keepthe spaces between the filterbags free. This is located inthe dust-laden gas space andis primarily used to separatelighter, fibrous materials.

Safety technology to prevent fire and explosions

Dust fires and explosionsoccur on an almost dailybasis. They put human life atrisk, cause a lot of materialdamage and lead to long inter-ruptions to normal operation.Frequently, they are causedby sparks which enter areasat risk of fire via materialtransport systems. They ariseduring the machining, process-ing or drying of flammablematerials.

Venti Oelde has extensiveknowledge in this area and, working together with the customer, we can plan andintegrate both active and passive safety measures. Youcan make use of this significantadvantage by speaking to ourengineers, who work togetherwith renowned companies inthe area of safety technology.

For this special hazard, VentiOelde offers equipment tosuppress explosions as wellas extinguishing systems, which can detect sparks inextraction lines and automati-cally extinguish them beforethey reach the filter system atrisk.

As an additional protectivemeasure, regarding explosions, the systems are decoupledfrom one another, so as todeflect the pressure wave andstop it using non-return valves.

Of central importance in asafety concept is the localmonitoring equipment, suchas infra-red detectors, sparkdetection systems, pressuremonitors, rupture sensors andlevel sensors. The evaluationof the signals that they produce, and the actions tobe taken as a result, are controlled by the systemsdesigned by Venti Oelde.

Adequately dimensionedventing areas in the return airducts and 180° air deflectionprevent the pressure wavefrom spreading through work-shops.

Permanently monitoring theresidual dust levels preventsan explosive mixture frombeing created on the cleangas side. When faults occur, measuring equipment preventsdust from being discharged tothe atmosphere or to the returnair by switching off the plantin good time.

At the interface between fireprotection zones with ductscarrying material, the individualfire zones can be separatedfrom one another. Safetycomponents are used to dothis, such as certified quickacting gate valves or VDS-approved fire protection valvesand rupture discs.

Remote diagno-sis provides us with specificinformation early about anyirregularities and if necessary, permits us to quickly and precisely diagnose faults.Through this type of preven-tative maintenance, we cangenerally avoid interruptionsto production or extensiverepairs in advance. If request-ed by our customers, we canactivate specific and con-trolled online monitoring.

We approach new challengeswith our experience and agood deal of curiosity. Forexample, in our modern testlab we analyse material samples to develop suitableseparation, shredding andconveying processes. We areonly satisfied when our ideasprove themselves in practiceand we can identify 100 %with the results.
