During the winter months low humidity can be a big problem. It can cause a host of health issues from dry, cracked skin and/or a sore throat, to aggravated allergy and asthma symptoms. Plus, many viruses thrive in low humidity, increasing the likelihood of catching colds, the flu and other respiratory ailments.

In addition to all the health issues, low humidity can cause uncomfortable static electricity and also warp wood furniture, leading to separation in wood floors and causing gaps in moulding.

Many of the adverse effects caused by low humidity levels can be quickly and easily controlled with the addition of a humidifier to your home’s comfort system. Much more effective than room humidifiers, whole house humidifiers can be installed directly into the ductwork for your furnace and air conditioning system to distribute properly humidified air throughout your home. Plus, properly humidified air will help you feel more comfortable at a lower temperature, allowing you to set your thermostat lower during the cold months.

Carbon monoxide (CO) is a by-product of gas or oil burning heating systems. At lower levels CO causes flu-like effects such as headaches, dizziness, disorientation, nausea and fatigue. Higher levels can be fatal so early detection is a key preventative measure.

CARBON MONOXIDE

COLORLESS + ODORLESS

= DEADLY

Timing of Tune-upsEvery spring and fall our phones are taken over with calls for tune-ups. We love and appreciate the work, but we’d like to let you in on a little secret. Annual maintenance (tune-ups) can be done any time of year — not just the season prior to system use.

Have peace of mind knowing your systems can be serviced any time of year as long as maintenance is done on the system once a year for each piece of equipment (furnace and air conditioner). We do this because just 1/8” of dust on a blower wheel can cause exhaustion and equipment failure over time.

Gain peace of mind against Carbon Monoxide this heating season as well.
