Dear Expedition Man Athletes,

Welcome to the inaugural Expedition Man Endurance Festival! This epic event hosts Northern Nevada’s 1st ever Ultra distance triathlon. You will begin your swim at Zephyr Cove Resort in beautiful Lake Tahoe, Nevada. Leading to a route never attempted allowing racers to tour the key cities that bring together Northern Nevada. From Lake Tahoe dropping into Carson City, Reno and ending in Sparks, you will cap off the event with a long-run along the Truckee River and be greeted at the finish line with a festival at the Legends at Sparks Marina. After completing my first iron distance race back in August

2011 the idea of Expedition Man was born. I went straight home and entertained the idea. After a little research I noticed there were few iron distance triathlons within 800 miles or so. All I thought was one thing – opportunity. An opportunity to host a spectacular and challenging iron distance event and festival in one of the most beautiful places on the west coast. I want to extend my greatest appreciation to every athlete,

sponsor, volunteer, and spectator making this event possible. Without you, this event would have never happened. I am deeply grateful for every sponsor, city official, and individual that believed in me.

The Reno-Sparks area has the perfect backdrop for a community of this size. It’s nestled alongside the Sierra Nevadas and provides access to the pristine Lake Tahoe and Truckee River, which is ideal for outdoors enthusiasts and for those who enjoy the urban or rural life. The area has a unique niche for trails, hiking, snowboarding, skiing and other activities for which many residents and tourists come to the region. There’s also a broad range of entertainment in the gaming industry and in the various special events that attract people from all over the country. It’s also easy to invest into this region because the community itself takes pride in its offerings of K-12 and secondary education, businesses and daily living. This is why northern Nevada is home to a number of unique community partners like Expedition Man. We think Expedition Man will fit into Reno and Sparks very well with the passion local residents have not only for the activities available but also for supporting our organizations, including non profits like the Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation. NNCCF focuses on helping our families impacted by childhood cancer by providing financial and emotional support, advocating on their behalf to legislators and raising funds that benefit the effort to find a cure to pediatric cancer. We have helped approximately 300 families in northern Nevada with more than $1.5 million in direct financial assistance and have visited Washington, D.C. annually to push for increased funding and better legislation regarding our families and young patients.

We’re truly thank for the support everyone involved in Expedition Man has given to our organization and, most importantly, to these families in the childhood cancer fight. We’re grateful to be able to show them that they are not alone in their journey.

ForMaxResults.com event based training is one of the fitness training sciences that Max specializes in, along with Athletic, Sport, Functional and Fitness Training.

With 30+ years in the fitness training profession, his own sports competitive accomplishments and his educational background in biomechanics and sports medicine, Max is a proven expert and pioneer in this field.

One of the biggest events on the 2012 schedule for his clients, in addition to himself is the Inaugural Expedition Man endurance festival. He currently has 5 clients who have spent many months training for the 1/2 Iron Distance race. Expedition Man will offer multiple races to choose from including a Full, half, and relay Iron and 1/2 Iron distance races.

One of the stand out clients Max is training is 61 year old John Solari. John does not come from a fitness background in swimming , biking or running. His fitness background has been in Rodeo sports, in particular, team roping. When Max took on Johnny as a client 3 years ago it was to improve in team roping. Since then Johnny, as everyone calls him, has segwayed into endurance event training. In the last 2 1/2 years Johnny has gone from finishing a half marathon to his first Triathlon, to a half Ironman. His latest accomplishment was making the podium at the famous Donner Lake Olympic distance Triathlon on July 15, 2012. So his next endeavour is to compete and improve his PR (personal record) at the 1/2 iron distance Expedition Man Triathlon on August 25, 2012.
