Cooperation2012 was an important step for InnoSenT’s future strategic positioning.

A long-time customer-supplier relationship was intensified through the

cooperation with HELLA. The goal here is to significantly strengthen

the market position of both companies generating added value for our

automotive and industrial customers.

InnoSenT will continue to operate as an autonomous company on the

market.

Through our cooperation, we are establishing ourselves sustainably

in the automotive sector. New technologies and applications can now

be brought onto the market more quickly. We also see synergy effects

between automotive technology and industrial applications as a large

advantage for all our customers.

Besides the positioning in the automotive sector, we also expedite the

further development of industrial applications such as the recent new

iSYS series.

Our company‘s headquarters located in Donnersdorf include

the administrative departments like Sales/Marketing and

Purchasing besides Development and Production. From there

we service a variety of industrial and automotive customers in

currently 37 countries and on all 5 continents.

We definitely play a role in a B2B – market and offer our

customers radar technology products.

Besides selling standard sensor products our core

competences are in developing and manufacturing customized

solutions.

Our sales team located at the company headquarters is

supported by international marketing partners. Thus we

provide worldwide best availability to our customers.

The CorporationInnoSenT’s product portfolio covers market requirements like comfort

(e.g. automatic switching and control), safety (area protection,

shutdown and alert functions) and environmental protection (e.g. the

reduction of energy and water consumption by adapted control).

The application areas of our radar technology steadily evolve, thus our

products get used today and tomorrow in areas, where earlier before

nobody had ever thought of. All sort of products belong to such areas

like automotive applications, traffic monitoring, industrial automation

etc.

On a daily basis our customers take advantage of the combination

of the experience of longtime employees and the investment in

new technologies and equipment and – first and foremost – in new

Automotive DevelopmentRadar technology and Automotive – a combination which

is becoming more and more important in the future. Our

solutions and applications are applied as so-called “driver

assistance systems” in various areas like e.g. LCA, BSD, ACC.

Thus we became a major leading supplier of radar sensing

techniques to the automotive industry.

To satisfy the challenging requirements of automotive

customers InnoSenT is corporate-wide certified according to

ISO TS 16949 and therefore committed to highest quality

standards – for both automotive and industrial markets.

Our engineering team handles an optimum of laboratory and

measuring techniques while designing customized prototypes.

Using our modern manufacturing capabilities we turn them

into high-volume manufactured products. For this procedure

InnoSenT applies an established APQP-process.

Industrial DevelopmentThis division designs both standard and customized products for

industrial sectors like

� multimode radars (CW, FSK, FMCW, pulse)

� extended frequency ranges (24 GHz, 61 GHz, 77 GHz etc.)

� MMIC technologies

� antenna designs

Before starting a final design a comprehensive simulation process

takes place. InnoSenT owns the required state-of-the-art software

tools for this. Microwave test equipment up to 96 GHz exists and gets

permanently upgraded.

The vicinity of the development and the production departments enable

a fast turnaround of prototypes. This guarantees short development

cycles which finally result in quick time to market.

Our standardized development process includes all steps up to

production of a final product in large volume.

Applications engineeringAs a response to our customers’ requests InnoSenT established

a signal processing group in year 2009. The task of this team is to

implement special solutions on a system level. Beside the laboratory

a large test chamber is available for this group. In this hall extensive

demonstrations are performed while systems are integrated in test

vehicles for automotive applications.

� sensor characterization

� DSP hardware design and layouting

� DSP software engineering

� sensor integration

For sensor integration the inhouse mechanical engineering

department supports the DSP-Group.

Quality managementWith the daily implementation of all four pillars of our QMS,

a structured approach oriented to a PDCA cycle is extremely

important.

New standards can only be created if changes/improvements

are well-thought out and planned, their implementation

competently accompanied and the expected results/effects

have taken place, been checked and assured.

To then rescrutinise these standards, either cyclically or

unplanned if needed, with regard to improvement potential,

continually drives the CIP spiral further.

Along the lines of the motto “Standstill means a step

backwards”, we will always be a step ahead on the market if the

“CIP” motor is constantly running.

Quality policyAt InnoSenT, based on ISO 9001:2008, we have united both ISO/TS

16949:2009 and ISO 14001:2004 into one integrated quality management

system (QMS). Our QMS builds on four essential pillars:

Quality planning: Already in the planning and product creation phase, we

orient ourselves closely to an APQP-process which is standardised

inhouse. We implement this process across all phases of the development.

The use of FMEA, control and inspection plan is standard for us.

Quality control: Complaints management means as much to us as the

concurrent monitoring of our processes. A functional document control

assists us in complying with all guidelines.

Quality assurance: This begins with consequent supplier support and

impacts systematically across the entire process chain of incoming goods,

production, shipping and onto the customers. Transparent and complete

traceability of our processes and products is a matter of course.

Quality improvement: Within the framework of our CIP ideas, the

demand for continual improvement is at the forefront. Only by constantly

scrutinising processes and procedures for improvement potential, can

we continue to develop ourselves and the entire company further thus

securing overall success for the future.

Production Know-HowWith over 2,2 million manufactured sensors InnoSenT is a worldwide

active volume producer in radar sensor technology. Manufacturing

takes place at 100% on our state-of-the-art production lines in

Donnersdorf/Germany. By highest possible automation and more

than 10 years of manufacturing Know-How this is not contradictory to

market-driven prices.

To guarantee optimal process stability production is supported by a

certain department, which exclusively pays attention to the proper

process and testing techniques.

The teamwork of these two divisions guarantees the high quality level

of our products.

Process Technique

Process Technique configures the test equipment required for

production and is responsible for the optimization of all SMT

lines and assembly areas.

As another highlight the major part of test equipment

used is assembled by the internal test equipment tooling,

which reports to process technique. Finally a system was

implemented, which enables the perfect traceability of our

sensors by an integrated data matrix coding method.

By this department customer-specific test requirements can

be added to existing processes. It ranges from the mechanical

construction of the test setup to the programming of software

and interfaces.

ProductionInnoSenT’s production is specialized on pick-and-place of parts and

the final assembly of high frequency components.

Within the SMT-area InnoSenT uses optimized lines. The completely

aligned lines generates high quantities in a 3-shift operational mode.

Another line is setup for flexibility to produce quantities ranging from

100 pieces to 400.000 pieces per year of a certain product.

The completion as a perfect product takes place in a separate

assembly area right next to the SMD placement area. At the end of the

production process each device gets specifically tested. The storage of

test data results in a SPC securing product stability.

Based on a high specialization level InnoSenT offers its manufacturing

services for products in frequency ranges above 10 GHz.

Individual or standard solution?InnoSenT’s product portfolio is structured as diverse as the

application areas of sensor techniques are. This is firstly

possible by a variety of standard products and secondly by the

possibility of getting customized sensors.

While standard products selected from a catalogue stand out

due to short availability, many other products are generated

in close cooperation with our customers. Thus we secure that

the proper sensor for a certain application is selected and no

compromise has to be taken.

Product spectrum

We offer any possible radar principle from a simple CW-Doppler-

radar to FMCW/FSK and up to a multimode radar. Depending on the

required bandwidth we select the proper frequency range for you.

The majority of our products is allocated in the 24 GHz ISM band. This

offers a worldwide advantage to our customers regarding certification

and approval. Besides 24 GHz we may realize products in frequency

ranges up to 96 GHz upon customer’s request.

InnoSenT offers a very broad product portfolio ranging from a simple

radar frontend to a completely encapsulated sensor with integrated

intelligence. Our customers may select the proper interface (analogue

or digital) as necessary.

The key for all those mentioned technologies is a high level of

integration of RF components and subassemblies as well as antenna

structures.

Automotive applications and marketsIn a market-leading position as a supplier of radar technology,

our radar sensors set the standard in various vehicle

applications.

As one of the first radar-based vehicle assistance systems, the

lane change assistant – a joint development with HELLA – has

asserted itself as a benchmark on the market.

With a cost-efficient design, it is possible to fully monitor traffic

behind according to the specification in ISO-17387 Type III.

The further developed sensor generation also warns of

transverse traffic behind thus assisting during parking.

In addition to the different rear applications, our 24 GHz radar

technology also allows for efficient use in the front area of

the vehicle. Our sensors are used in classic ACC Stop and Go

systems, distance and collision warning systems as well as

adaptive brake assistants.

In addition to the wide-spread 24 GHz surround/environmental

sensors, InnoSenT has developed a 77 GHz radar solution with

pioneering performance.

Typical applications and marketsRadar sensor techniques address all those applications, where

velocity, distance/range and angle of arrival of an object shall be

measured. Of course the simple presence and motion detection of

objects is possible as well.

Our sensors are used today in the following areas:

� in passenger cars and trucks (e.g. LCA and ACC)

� in traffic monitoring (e.g. vehicle counting and guidance systems,

traffic light control, parking lot monitoring, mobile traffic signs)

� for industrial applications (e.g. level gauging, huge equipment

control, paper print sensing)

� train applications (e.g. velocity measurement and track

surveillance)

� environmental test methods (e.g. ice thickness and rain

measurement, flow measurement in different media)

� building technology (e.g. installation and security, light

management, sanitary equipment)

Industrial system solutionsWe have developed a new, smart and intelligent sensor generation

as a reaction to customer requests! With the new iSYS product

line, we will be offering more solutions in the future especially for

the industrial market.

The goal of the development was to implement high functionality

at prices in line with the market. The module range extends from

simple motion detectors to modules

with distance measurement and on to variations with angle

determination.

Our customers ultimately determine the limits of the functionality!
