Projects for example
1. Soil survey (phase I, phase II, phase – Environmental Site Assessment) – 'Tzvi Cohen Ecology' hired 'Isotope Limited' to conduct a historical survey (phase I) on Ha'Rechev 3 street in the Netanya's industrial zone. The purpose of the historical survey (phase I) is to characterize the site as a preliminary stage for conducting a survey of the land (phase II). Following a preliminary tour of the site, a conversation was held with the operators of the garage that operated there in the past ('Yigal Garage') and a tour of the nearby area was prepared. The summary of the historical survey (phase I) suggested a soil survey program (stage II) that included 8 drillings to a depth of 2 m and taking samples from the surface (0 m), 1 m and 2 m and sending samples to the laboratory for analysis of TPH (total petroleum hydrocarbons) , PAH and heavy metals analysis. The results of the soil survey showed that there was pollution in the northeast of the site (drilling no. 7 showed a TPH concentration of 2681ppm and 838 ppm for depth of 2 m and 0 m respectively), higher than the threshold of 500ppm. The suggestion: digging of 5 m * 5 m and 3.5 m depth, and the removal the contaminated soil to an authorized waste disposal site. The soil was evacuated to the 'Dudaim' waste disposal site. Successfully completed to the satisfaction of the customer.
2. Soil gas survey (TO-15) - The 'Haymnuta' Company (JNF) hired 'Isotope Limited' to conduct a soil gas survey in Kiryat Ono. The active soil gas survey (TO-15) was carried out in five plots belonging to Block 6490 (west of nearby Nahal Gamla Street) near 'Tel Hashomer' army base. The plan included drilling 8 wells for soil gas monitoring and connecting 8 Summa canisters (steel tanks that are in vacuum and draw the ground gas) to them. The results of the analysis at 'Bactochem' Ness Ziona (31.3.2015) showed a benzene concentration of 30.20, 19.46 and 17.41 μg/m3 (for drillings 1, 3 and 8 respectively), which are higher than the threshold value of 16ug/m3. The re-sampling carried out two months later (3.6.2015) and showed that benzene concentrations in drillings 1,3 and 8 were not detected at all, so there is no risk of benzene in the sampled points. Successfully completed to the satisfaction of the customer.
3. Waste disposal site "Sdeh Modi'in" east of Shoham. Israel's Lands Authority hired 'Isotope Limited' to conduct a pumping test and calculate the production of biogas using the EPA method 2E. During the survey, the members of the environmental consulting team spent 3 days monitoring biogas under static conditions (without pumping) and dynamic (with constant pumping) using a gas analyzer (measuring the composition of the air and concentration of methane, carbon dioxide and oxygen at the end of the pipe), temperature and pressure gauge. Data collected from continuous sampling of 24 hours were introduced into an Excel-based computerized model, which showed that it is not economically viable to produce biogas from the site. Successfully completed to the satisfaction of the customer.
4. Pumping test and determination of the hydrological properties of a free aquifer - the Yokneam aquifer. 'Isotope Limited' was hired by a 'Geotechnology' to conduct a pumping test in the Yokneam industrial zone for the purpose of examining the hydrogeological characteristics. Transmissivity and storativity were computed according to the Neumann (1974) equation, which is suitable for calculating hydrological parameters in a free (phreatic) aquifer. The pumping test was carried out in 3 wells while the associated water level was measured in 3 wells and in an observation well 3m from the adjacent well. According to the data, it appears that the flow of the aquifer in Yokneam in the area under review is 3-12 m2/day and the computed storativity is 0.0038 (unitless). The project was successfully implemented to the customer's satisfaction.
