Chosing the solution

We have:• Analyzed technologies• Deploy test site• Run tests and benchmarks• Verified results

…and chosen OpenStack

Deploying cloud

Based on the chosen technology we have deployed:• Generic services• Compute services• Storage services

Extensions

We have extend the capabilities of OpenStack in following areas:• Providing access from the Internet to the VPH-Share services running

on instances located in the private LAN without the need to use the public IP for each service to preserve those resources; we achieved this by developing a module which is controlling the standard Linux packet filtering mechanism (netfilter/iptables) to perform Destination Network Address Translation (DNAT) for specific TCP or UDP port(s) of the single IP.

• Enable replication of images to other private sites based on the OpenStack

as well as public services such as Amazon AWS. We have created a set of

scripts which properly moves and registers required images to other cloud

sites.
