Peer Group Training (PGT) is peer to peer training amongst wheelchair users in mobility, health and independent living skills

Who are the trainers?

It involves experienced, healthy and active wheelchair users passing on their skills and knowledge to others

Who is it for?

People with spinal cord injuries and other mobility disabilities

What is the impact of PGT?

PGT improves survival rates and quality of life

PGT contexts

PGT can be delivered in the following contexts:

Hospital or spinal unit essential for early intervention providing a role model from the outset

and motivation to move forward

Home visit addresses lack of transport for those requiring PGT

Wheelchair services combining the provision of appropriate mobility equipment with essential skills

and knowledge

Residential camp bringing together 15 – 20 people for comprehensive PGT
