On Friday, 24-26 June 2016, the Mayoral Urban Regeneration Programme (MURP) in the City of Cape Town in collaboration with Social Development, Health, Sports & Recreation, Harambee, hosted a youth summit.
The youth summit was targeting youth between ages of 13 and 25 years, but the youth candidates that are older than the said ages were not excluded from participation of the project. The recruitment targeted the non-political youth organisations\ structures within the Bishop Lavis, Bonteheuwel and Valhalla Park (BIBOVALLA) areas.
The individual youth candidates that were not members of any associations were also accommodated to participate, but based on the selection criterion that was agreed upon by the Project Manager, service provider
and members of the Project Management Team (PMT).

Experiences contribution in achieving career objectives
As an official I have learned that never take decision on
behalf of other people. A process of community
engagement must be taken seriously. Every citizen has a
right to contribute/ comment on developmental
programmes in their respective areas. The youth
programmes was to give a platform to the youth in
expressing their views and take centre stage and make
meaningful contributions as agents of change in their
communities by identifying challenges and solution and
there after interventions needs to be undertaken.
