1.1 Emerging and experimental arts sector plan context andconsultation

We developed our sector plan for 2012-13 based on a range of consultations held with peers and artists. Sector consultation for the 2012-13 plan included face-to-face peerdiscussions at assessment meetings and focus groups, open on-line consultations through Google+ Hangouts, twitter commentary through the hashtag #IAPlan and acomments section on our sector plan webpage.

We continue to welcome feedback on the 2012-13 sector plan throughout the year, and invite those interested to post their ideas and thoughts in the comments section

below the sector plan on our webpage.

    Key Projects 2012/13

The Indigenous Experimental Art Fund and publication are key cross-artform initiatives stemming from the Indigenous Roundtable

consultations held in 2010/11, that we will continue to support in 2012/13.

In partnership withthe artform boards, we will significantly support the exhibition and curatorial program ofISEA 2013 in Sydney.

We will continue to profile and support national Live Art practices, in particular partnering with Market Developmentto support the Hopscotch

    Live Art touring initiative.

Through the Creative Australia New Art initiative, we will continue to support the creative development and presentation and production of

    significant, large scale, experimental artwork.

To help develop our policies and initiatives, we will hold on-line and face-to-face roundtable peer panels and focus groups.

We will ensure that other boards and sections use our panel members as peers at their meetings and vica versa, to create a cross-over of

    knowledge and experience.

Sector-led and initiated forums are important spaces for debate on issues facing emerging arts practices, and we will continue to support such

    national discussions for our sector.

The Synapse art/science initiative is an important practice lead research program that has positioned Australian artists as world leaders in the

art/science field, and we will continue to support such partnerships.

2012/13 is the final year of the Splendid Young and Emerging Artists initiative, which has seen three successful artist laboratories held in

regional Australia and a number of major new works created for large scale festival environments both nationally and internationally.

The AlloSphere Artist Residency at the University of California Santa Barbara will continue in partnership with the Music Board.

Through the InFuse regional arts development initiative, a range of laboratories and new artist networks have been formed between urban and

regional centres, which we will continue to support in 2012/13.
