Introduction This 3.5 days long course offers participants the opportunity to develop a fundamental knowledge of the principles of ultra-high-velocity impact and the current experimental techniques for capturing such phenomena. The course will overview the ballistic theory and impact; metallurgical observations and energy partitioning; and engineering considerations in the hypervelocity regime. In addition, participants will gain an understanding of the various high speed imaging techniques with different types of cameras, as well as advanced experimental techniques such as flash x-rays and stereoscopy. The course will include laboratory demonstrations, industry expert guest lectures, and hands-on practical exercises.
