WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

REFLECTION AND PREPARATION

Therefore he had to be made like his brothers in every respect, so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. For because he himself has suffered when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.- Hebrews 2:17-18

Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.- Hebrews 10:19-23

*CALL TO WORSHIP | Psalm 103:1-2, 19, 22

(Leader) Bless the LORD, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name!(All) Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits. (Leader) The LORD has established his throne in the heavens, and his kingdom rules over all. (All) Bless the LORD, all his works, in all places of his dominion. Bless the LORD, O my soul!

*PRAYER OF ADORATION

CORPORATE CONFESSION

Let us pray:

Everlasting God, in whom we live and move and have our being, you have made us for yourself, so that our hearts are restless until they rest in you. We confess that we have been foolish, and strayed from you and have wandered on our own way. We have shunned your care, ignored your hand of providence, and trusted in ourselves rather than your grace. Have mercy on us, and forgive us our sin.

Give us purity of heart and strength of purpose, that no selfish passion may hinder us from knowing your will, no weakness keep us from doing it; that we would depend upon you for every breath we take, every thought we think, and every desire in our hearts. Teach us to trust in you, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

SILENT CONFESSION

ASSURANCE OF PARDON | Romans 5:6-8

For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die—but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

*SONG OF RENEWAL | Jesus, Lover of My Soul Charles Wesley, 1740 | Greg Thompson, 2000

Jesus, lover of my soul, let me to thy bosom fly,While the nearer waters roll, while the tempest still is high:Hide me, O my Savior hide, ‘till the storm is pastSafe into the haven guide, receive my soul at last!

Other refuge have I none, hangs my helpless soul on thee;Leave, ah! leave me not alone, still support and comfort me!All my trust on thee is stayed, help from thee I bring;Cover my defenseless head with the shadow of thy wing.

Thou, O Christ, art all I want; more than all in thee I find;Raise the fallen, cheer the faint, heal the sick, and lead the blind.Just and holy is thy name; I am all unrighteousness;False and full of sin I am, thou art full of truth and grace.

Plenteous grace with thee is found, grace to cover all my sin;Let the healing streams abound; make and keep me pure within:thou of life the fountain art, let me take of thee;Spring thou up within my heart, to all eternity.

*SONG OF FAITH | THY MERCY MY GOD IS THE THEME OF MY SONG John Stocker Sandra McCracken

Arranged by Parker Adams

Al – le – lu – jah Al – le – lu – jah Sing praise, sing praise. Oh bless the Lord who sought and purchased me. Al – le – lu – jah Al – le – lu – jah

Thy mercy, my God, is the theme of my song, the joy of my heart and the boast of my tongue;Thy free grace alone from the first to the last hath won my affections and bound my soul fast. Without thy sweet mercy I could not live here, sin would reduce me to utter despair; But through thy free goodness my spirits reviveand he that first made me still keeps me alive. Thy mercy is more than a match for my heartwhich wonders to feel its own hardness depart;Dissolved by thy goodness I fall to the groundand weep for the praise of the mercy I’ve found.

Great Father of Mercies, thy goodness I ownand the covenant love of thy crucified Son;All praise to the Spirit whose whisper divineseals mercy and pardon and righteousness mine. All praise to the Spirit whose whisper divineseals mercy and pardon and righteousness mine.

Al – le – lu – jah Al – le – lu – jah Sing praise, sing praise. Oh bless the Lord who sought and purchased me. Al – le – lu – jah Al – le – lu – jah

THE LORD’S SUPPER | See comments below We come forward by row to receive the elements. Wine is found in red cups (outer ring), grape juice in clear cups (inside rings). Gluten free wafers are available in both serving lines. If you are unable to come forward, please notify the server walking around with the elements. You are welcome to participate in the Lord’s Supper if you are a baptized Christian and a member of an evangelical church. If this does not describe you, we encourage you to spend this time in prayer to consider your relationship to Jesus Christ. We also ask that children who have not yet publicly professed their faith in Christ refrain from partaking until doing so. The Lord’s Supper is a time for our faith to be strengthened and our hope renewed.

ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES

Westminster Confession of FaithTaught by Doug Hart, Stuart Bowman and

Matt Trent

What does the whole Bible teach that a Christian really is? Join us as we study our summary of what the Bible teaches, the Westminster Confession of Faith Chapters 12-15, on the life transforming

truths of Adoption, Sanctification, Saving Faith and Repentance unto Life.

Practically Reformed: Theology for All of LifeTaught by Chris Griffith

Do you know Jesus and not just a theory of what Jesus came to do?

It is impossible to encounter God’s saving grace and not be powerfully and permanently changed. John Calvin knew this. In this 5-part teaching series, we will seek to understand how Calvinism is a biblical, God-centered expression of the Christian faith with

important implications for our daily lives. This theology is not simply academic. It is a theology for all of life—a theology in which the grace of Jesus Christ

shapes everything.
