CENTREX EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR VISITED THE ADRIATIC FAIR

TONI LAZNIK, DIRECTOR OF THE SLOVENIAN ICM, VISITED THE ADRIATIC FAIR

Ildiko Molnar, Executive Director of Centrex, visited the Food Fair and shared with us her impressions and opinions.

“Centrex is an international auditing company founded in 1997, striving to provide transparency into exhibition industry. We develop statistics in the sphere of trade fairs, which is absolutely on a par with the European standards”, explained Molnar. Concerning her impressions about the Food Fair held within the Adriatic Fair she noted: “I am impressed both with the Trade Fair venue and with the Trade Fair. This is the fi rst time I have visited the Food Fair, although we have been dealing with its auditing and publishing for years. The statistics have confi rmed that this is an international Trade Fair. Consequently, the Adriatic Food Fair can be a member of UFI the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry which

makes us delighted.” Irrespective of the opinion that Internet presentations and social networks have been taking precedence over the traditional organisation of exhibition events, both the exhibitors and the competent government offi cials from participating states believe that the direct method of establishing contacts is still the best and that the Adriatic Fair has been continuously gaining increasing importance and popularity. We asked Ms Molnar about her opinion on this issue. “I expected this question, since, in addition to being involved in auditing and statistics, we are also

involved in trade fair promotion. There is currently a broad range of market research studies that can be considered a threat to this. Nevertheless, the Internet and social networks actually help them to survive and advance and they are in synergy, rather than being incompatible”, noted Molnar. Since Ms Molnar is Hungarian, we asked her about her impressions on the method of presentation of her country at the Budva-based Food Fair. “I am aware of the fact that the Hungarian exhibitors have been co-operating with and participating at this Fair for years. I am personally delighted with the fact that Hungarian products are being promoted here and with the existence of contracts between the two countries”, she stated. Finally, the director of Centrex expressed her great satisfaction for having visited the Food Fair, and congratulated us on its organisation.

Toni Laznik, Director of the Slovenian ICM, visited the Budva-based Adriatic Fair and talked with its Director Rajko Bujković, Ph.D, about future co-operation between these two companies. “ICM is professionally involved in organisation of conferences, B&B fairs and similar events. He has known Rajko Bujković, Executive Director of the Adriatic Fair, for fi fteen years and they have co-operated on a large number of trade fairs, as well as in some associations operating in this part of Europe. I have visited the

Fair, primarily its eco-segment, as in October we are organising the fair named “Clean Me” and next year we are also organising the Water Fair, which has been provided by the Adriatic Fair in autumn. Since it is in our interest to focus on joint projects, we have discussed the opportunities for practical experience exchange in exhibition industry with the Director of the Adriatic Fair”, noted Laznik, announcing the calendar of events organised by ICM: “Our calendar is simple, we organise six trade fair events, four of which

are held in February. These are the trade fairs High Tech, hence automation, mechatronics, robotics and professional electronics and in October “Clean Me” trade fair is held which next year is going to be enhanced with Water Fair”.

doc. Dr. Rajko Bujković

Is there an Internet resource you could recommend where we could keep abreast with tips for trade fair exhibitors? We believe there is currently a shortage of written materials concerning this issue and our employees have hardly been given any opportunities throughout their education to gain a deeper insight into the issue of creation of trade fair appearance. Certainly. The Internet provides

immense resources also in this segment. I would like to recommend the website of AUMA, the Association of the German Trade Fair Industry, where a special item of the menu is primarily intended for exhibitors (www.auma.de). This is simultaneously also a confi rmation of the thesis that successful trade fair organisers normally focus on successful and satisfi ed exhibitors.

Which Internet resource from this part of Europe would you recommend us? I have recently visited the website of

the Association of Central European

Trade Fairs (headquartered in Budapest) and the menu item entitled "centrex knowledge" attracted my attention, as it is available also for non-members. You need to visit this website - www.centrexstat.ord.

Irrespective of the hot summer days, we are currently involved in the selection of events and preparations for trade fairs. What is fundamental for the development of a clear strategy? To put it in a nutshell: a) clearly

defi ned objectives and b) clearly defi ned budget. This is what I always point out prior to any discussion about exhibition stands, the staff and event programmes, to name a few, since research fi ndings even in the most developed countries showed that less than 50% of exhibitors have a pre-defi ned budget. I would like to highlight the fact that early and timely planning saves valuable cash.

TO THE FAIR WITH SUCCESS No. 126 The role of NTO in tourism destination promotion A lecture addressing the issue of the role of NTO in tourism destination promotion, organised by the Mediterranean University, was held at the Press Hall of the Adriatic Fair. Iva Bulatović, lecturer, Pro Dean at Faculty of Tourism at the Mediterranean University, stated that this lecture was aimed at emphasising the importance of tourism organisations in Montenegro and primarily of the National Tourism Organisation. “The gravest mistake that can be made in tourism is when, irrespective of the fact that we have promoted something extremely well, tourists actually experience it in a completely diff erent way”, stressed Iva Bulatović.
