I get a lot of people coming to me asking for help with stress and anxiety, and I’ve written previously about how acupuncture regularly helps such people.

Treatment usually involves some ‘homework’. It is amazing how many people do not give themselves any real down time, or ‘Me Time’ as I call it. Their busy lives revolve around work and kids and housework and helping others, with no thought for themselves.

Just take half an or so out to yourself, doing nothing except relaxing, take a walk or sit in the garden, listen to the birds, really contemplating sights, sounds and smells. Doing this can help to switch your mind of for a short while, and allow you to just be ‘in the now’ i.e. be a human ‘being’ for once, not a human ‘doing’. But do it where you won’t be interrupted, even if you shut yourself in the bedroom with strict instructions not to be disturbed! By the way, ‘vegging out’ in front of the telly doesn’t count!

Ok, so not everyone can just switch off their thoughts, so this is where relaxation techniques such as meditation, yoga, Tai Ji and so on come in. It really does make a profound difference, so next time you’re feeling overwhelmed by it all, reward yourself with some ‘me time’. If you want more advice how on to do this, give me a call.

The cells convert the sunlight into electricity, which can be used to run household power and lighting. It doesn’t even have to be a sunny day PV can still generate energy on a cloudy day.

As from April 2010 a new Government incentive has been introduced called the Feed-in-Tariff-scheme (FiT’s). FiT’s are designed to pay the consumer back for the electricity they generate.

The DEC predict that the average household could earn as much as £900 per year tax free.

In order to qualify for the FiT a PV system has to be an MCS approved product and be installed by an MCS approved installer.

Take cuttings of tender perennials. Dip them into a hormone rooting powder and inserting them into small pots of half and half compost and perlite, water well and keep in a cold frame or on warm windowsill out of direct sunlight.

Plant out container grown perennials, shrubs and trees, but ensure the soil is prepared properly by mixing plenty of organic matter -compost and processed manure with your existing soil.

Pull weeds and remove any rubbish around the plants to prevent any pests coming into your flower beds, but remember some pests are good.

Road Based Cycle Challenge Sunday 14th August

Starting and ending at our Warwick Hospice the routes take you out into the scenic countryside of Southam and the surrounding villages. Registration: £15

Moonlight Walk Saturday 10th September - 10pm

8-mile sponsored ladies only walk around Warwick and Leamington commencing at 10pm. The event will start and end at Warwick Castle. Registration: £10. Please note the registration fee only covers the event costs and we do rely on you to raise sponsorship to make this event a success.

Skydive Saturday 22nd October

30 brave people wanted to take part in our charity skydive at Brackley Airfield, Oxfordshire. You will need to raise a minimum of £395 in sponsorship and in return will be able to jump for free!

The Bishop’s Tachbrook Horticultural Show is a fabulous traditional village event with a large show marquee and side stalls. The event takes place on the village meadow where there is plenty of space for parking, a car boot sale and numerous stalls. We welcome stalls from outside the village, especially with a creative or horticultural theme! This is a free event with free parking and is usually very well attended by people all around Warwickshire.
