Extend the Power of System Center Configuration Manager to More
Than 120 Non-Windows Systems and Devices
Achieve Powerful Enterprise-Wide Configuration and Deployment Management
System Center Configuration Manager (Configuration Manager) is the ideal configuration
and deployment management solution for Windows-based systems. However by itself,
Configuration Manager cannot deliver these management capabilities to over 120
non-Windows systems and devices. Thanks to Quest® Management Xtensions – Configuration
Manager 2007 Edition (QMX for CM), you can now natively extend the management capabilities
of Configuration Manager from the Windows domain to non-Windows platforms such as
Unix, Linux, VMware, Mac, iPads and iPhones as well as devices from Cisco and others for
power and storage.
That means you can use your preferred solution, Configuration Manager, to manage both
Windows and non-Windows systems , in both mixed and native modes—without having to
invest in additional infrastructure, training, staff or difficult-to-manage point solutions. The result
is less complexity, more uniform management and a significant reduction in costs due to the
elimination of redundant infrastructure and multiple platform-specific tools.
•Choose agent-based or agent-less management for any platform with QMX "Smart Agents"
•Extend enterprise-wide change and configuration management across heterogeneous environments using Configuration Manager
•Leverage your existing investment in Configuration Manager
•Reduce operating costs and complexities within your environment by eliminating redundant, non-integrated tools
•Manage Macs, iPad and iPhones with the same tool
•Deliver the service levels your customers expect, while maximizing your return on IT investment

Extend the Power of System Center Configuration Manager
Key Features
Software and Patch Distribution
Provides “full-coverage” software and patch distribution for non-Windows systems. Software
delivery provides native support for deploying scripts for flexible patch and software
distribution to Unix, Linux, VMware ESX, Cisco and Mac OS X systems as well as managing
iPads & iPhones.
Hardware Inventory
Enables administrators to transparently access hardware inventory for more than 120 systems
and devices within Configuration Manager.
Software Inventory
Transparently integrates software inventory for non-Windows systems within Configuration
Manager.
System Discovery
Automatically discovers Unix, Linux, VMware and Mac OS X systems—as well as Cisco devices
and others for storage and power—and adds them to the Configuration Manager System
Inventory, as well as the default Unix, Linux, VMware and Mac collections NMAP-enabled
for most extensions allowing discovery without the need for credentials. Use Mobile Device
Management to enroll iPhones & iPads, too.
Remote Tools
Allows you to remotely control desktops and devices using SSH, Telnet, VNC and other tools.
Reporting
Provides reports using standard Configuration Manager reporting.
