dry (v. 2) reconstituting of bodies and

giving them breath; cf. Gen 2:7 “breath” -- “wind” -- “spirit” a very, very great army (v. 10)

community--”Prepare in the desert a highway for our God”; they wanted to be the first to see the fish jump

John 19:34 from his heart flow streams of living water; ancient utopia becomes Christian promise

Rev 22:1-2; river of life flowing from throne of God…tree of life with twelve kinds of fruit…leaves are for healing of the nations.

Gog of Magog Unidentified, eschatological enemy from the north

(38:15; 39:2) Fulfills prophecy of the enemy from the north (Jeremiah

4-6), but also fulfills prophecy of the destruction of that enemy (I will shatter Assyria in my land Isa 14:24-25)

With the destruction of this enemy, God’s reign in chapters 40-48 can go on unchallenged.

Israel will spend seven months burying Gog and cleansing the land (39:9-16)

Birds and wild animals will feast on this enemy (39:17-20).

In Rev 20:7-10 Gog and Magog, inspired by Satan, march against Jerusalem, initiating God’s final victory over Satan and the reign of the Lamb in the new Jerusalem.
