Teaching Families to Eat Better for LessIFFS is looking for partner organizations to host our six-week Cooking Matters classes. Cooking Matters, a program of national anti-hunger organization Share Our Strength, is a cooking-based nutrition education course designed to teach low-income families how to prepare healthy, tasty meals on a limited budget.
Cooking Matters offers Adults, Families, Parents, Teens, Kids, and Child Care Professionals curricula.
Class sessions are two hours long and are held once a week for six weeks at your organization’s site.
Host sites provide meeting space, class participants, and a staff member who coordinates with IFFS and is present during class sessions. Cooking Matters can be implemented in a variety of settings; only running water is required!
IFFS provides trained volunteer nutritionists and culinary instructors, curricula, ingredients, equipment, materials, and take home groceries for participants.
“Wow. I think this is the first time I’ve cooked. I feel happy right now!”
