  • Craft: Fiery Furnace

I had done some preliminary work...but, I knew I was NO where near finished. Well, today was a BEAUTIFUL day here in OKLAHOMA....not much wind....so, I decided to take this outside and PAINT it.... I used spray paint that I had in my supplies...THERE WAS NO COST!!!! YAY!!! And, I LOVE the SANDY Color.

After is sat in the sun for a while..... I added the BLOCK detail with a SHARPIE. I REALLY wanted to use POLY FIBER FILL for the SMOKE...sadly, I did NOT have any...but, I had TONS of COTTON BALLS...So, for now, I used them. I did sort of STRIKE a brown marker on the cotton balls to make them look more smokey. :-)OH, by the way...since I wanted the KIDDOS to be able to TURN this ON and OFF...I cut a circle in the yellow lid...which is now the BOTTOM....so that they can use the SWITCH on the little tea light.

  • PLAY! Safe in the Furnace! Pile red and yellow cloth in the center of the room to create a furnace. Play your favorite music. While the music plays, everyone moves around the room. When the music stops, everyone stands in the pretend furnace. Talk about how God was with Daniels friends. He kept them safe. What are you afraid of? Remember, God is always with you!

GAME: GOD IS WITH YOU BALL ROLLPurpose: Children will realize God is with them, just as He was with Daniels friends in the furnace. Supplies: Soft ball for rolling

Did God keep Daniels friends safe? (Yes.) God was with them in the fiery furnace and He did not let the fire burn them. Daniels friends may have been afraid, but they knew God was with them. When you are afraid, God is with you, too.

    Directions:

    1. Children sit in a circle. 2. Roll the ball to a child. 3. Ask that child to name one thing that makes him or her feel

afraid. 4. Childs name, God is with you when you are afraid of childs

fear. 5. Children say and sign the Whisper Verse, God is with you, to

the child. 6. That child rolls the ball to another child. 7. Repeat steps 3-6 until each child has a turn.

  • What Burns? You are to attempt to burn different types of material. The material you need for this activity is a candle, metal tongs and several small items to burn. We used a piece of chalk, polyester, plastic, strawberry top, piece of cloth, a paper clip, pine needles, plastic clip and a little of Samuels hair. We also had a bowl of water to put out the items that caught fire.

Once the kids saw how easy it was for the cloth and hair to burn, we talked about the miracle that happened with Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego. How not even one hair on their body or even their clothes did not have any burn marks on them at all. God had saved them from the fiery furnace! It was a great lesson to show that if you are faithful to God, He will take care of you during those trying times.
