Forest Resources flowers, fruit, seeds, nuts, and other plant products plants produce oxygen (the gas we need to survive) tree fibers (used to make paper) many woods like maple, cherry, oak, and pine other lumber

What products do we make from forest resources? From wood we make: furniture, houses, plywood, hardwood floors and many other things from sap of maple trees we make maple syrup rubber trees can be made into rubber trees can be made into pulp and then made into paper

What Impact do trees have on the EnvironmentTrees have a very positive impact on the environment, for example they reduce carbon dioxide in the air and add oxygen. Trees also supply food for thousands of animals and provides their shelter and without those animals the ecosystem could collapse.

LOGGINGLogging is when trees are cut down in a forest. Logging is usually bad for the environment and ecosystem.

Clear-cutting logging is when loggers cut down all the trees in one area all at once.

Selective cuttingis when trees are cut down in a scattered patternProsLess damaging to the forestEasier for the forest to grow back

Sustainable YieldA forest can be kept at a sustainable yield.A sustainable yield is a regular amount of renewable resource that can be taken without reducing the future supply of that resource. A forest can be kept at a sustainable yield.

Certified WoodCertified wood means that the forest that the wood was grown in was managed with a sustainable yield and was certified by the Forest Stewardship Council. The wood will also have a well managed label on it.
