Francis Key Scott Fitzgerald was born on September 24, 1896, in St. Paul, Minnesota. His name came from his second cousin three times removed, Francis Scott Key, who is responsible for the writing of the Star Spangled Banner. His father, Edward, was from Maryland. His mother, Mary, was an wealthy Irish Immigrant; reflected in his writings.
