From 1 January 2017 all sheep and goats born in Victoria MUST be tagged with an electronic NLIS (sheep) tag before being dispatched to a saleyard, abattoir, or another property with a different PIC . Producers tagging sheep and goats born prior to 1 January 2017 can either use a visually readable NLIS (sheep) tag, or an electronic NLIS (sheep) tag.

Subsidised tags which start from $0.45 are available for purchase. The entitlement for subsidised tags is calculated on the total 2017 NLIS (Sheep) electronic tag purchases for that PIC, plus an additional 10 per cent. The 12 month period for the purposes of calculating 2017 tag purchases is between 14 November 2016 and 20 November 2017. The subsidised price is available for all year of birth colours including pink Post-breeder tags (pink tags are used to identify sheep and goats that are introduced onto a property and lose their tags).

Producers continue to have access to NLIS (Sheep) tags at current standard prices, and can buy tags at these prices without limit.

If your sheep are Ovine Johnes Disease (OJD) vaccinated or terminal lambs please select the appropriate OJD status to be printed. You must select OJD status of V if your sheep have been OJD vaccinated. OJD status of T indicates that your sheep are Terminal (crossbred) lambs from an OJD affected flock. If you leave this section blank no OJD status will be printed.
