Reading
Shark in the Park
This week’s story is ‘Shark in the Park’ by Nick Sharratt.

Rhyming Words
In this week’s story, there are lots of rhyming words. Remember rhyming words are words that
sound the same. They usually have the same or
similar end sound. For example: cat, mat, hat, chat etc.
Using the rhyming worksheet below, match all the
objects that rhyme.
Build a Reading Den
Help your child gather cushions, sheets and blankets and find somewhere cosy. Tell them to
make a space for two and snuggle up and read
their favourite books.

Have you guessed? If so, draw and label a shark. Use the template if you wish.
Remember to use your sound mats to help.
Sharks
Watch the clip which is all about sharks. Then,
write down the facts that you found interesting.

What Can You See Through Your Telescope?
First, explain to your child that they are going to
pretend to be in the park looking through their own telescope to see what they can see.
Together, discuss what they can see. For
example: a shark, a cat, a man, a slide etc.
Then, support them to record the objects that they can see.
Use the template below.

Practise the 2D shapes with your child. This
year, they have been learning to name the following shapes:
Circle
Triangle
Square
Star
Rectangle
Oval

Complete the colour by shape sheets.
Shark Addition
Complete the shark addition sheet below.
Remember to use your number line to help you
form the digits correctly.

Use the sheet below to help. It would be great if you could encourage your child to count the
sides and vertices (corners).
For example:
A hexagon has 6 sides and 6 vertices.

Research
Sharks are not the only creatures that can be
found in the oceans!
Choose a sea creature to find out interesting
facts about. You may choose to research one of the following:
Whales
Dolphins
Jellyfish
Turtles
Challenge
Using a timer, ask an adult to see how quickly you
can get dressed in the morning without too much help.
Challenge yourself to beat your initial time by the end of the week. Use the template to record your
times.
