Dear Friends,

As you are aware, there is a lot of discussion about

coronavirus and how to keep everyone healthy. It has not

surfaced in our area yet, but I believe it is not a matter of if

but when we have cases in the St. Louis area. We want to

provide a safe place for everyone to gather, to learn, to

worship, to grow, and to go out to serve. To that end, I am

encouraging everyone to reconsider how we pass the peace

on Saturday night and Sunday morning. Instead of shaking

hands, I invite people to place their hand over the heart

when sharing the peace of Christ. We will also have hand

sanitizer available in the narthex for anyone who needs a

dab. We are examining how we distribute holy communion

to minimize any germ transition. Please feel free to contact

me with any questions or concerns. We will continue to

monitor the situation and make adjustments as needed.

In Hope and Confidence,

Pastor Dave

ORDER OF WORSHIP

Prayer requests may be given to the pastor before the service.

CENTERING PRAYER

“Give (us) the grace of humility, and shed now Thy guiding light into every mind. Break down every will that is stubbornly set against Thine or that has ignored Thee.

May what is done be so clearly right that it needs no incendiary justification. Soothe our still-smoldering hearts and minds with the spirit of forgiveness. Let us be swayed not by emotion or ambition but by calm conviction. This we ask in Jesus’ name. Amen.” *

CALL TO WORSHIP (Psalm 146)

Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord, O, my soul!

Do not put your trust in princes, in mortals, in whom there is no help.

Happy are those whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord their God….

The Lord sets the prisoner free; the Lord opens the eyes of the blind.

The Lord lifts up those who are bowed down; the Lord loves the righteous….

The Lord will reign forever, your God, O Zion, for all generations.

Praise the Lord!

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Gracious God, have mercy on us, for we fail to be faithful to you, though you are always faithful to us. You show us your wisdom, but we prefer to go our own way. Our broken relationships with you and one another create poverty in us and our neighbors. In your mercy, reconcile us to you and one another for the work of justice, peace, and love, through Jesus Christ, our redeemer. (Silent Confession)

ASSURANCE OF GRACE

† SHARING THE PEACE OF CHRIST

The peace of Christ be with you.

And also with you.

† I THANK YOU JESUS Morris

I thank you Jesus (thank you Jesus) thank you Jesus (thank you Jesus)

Thank you Jesus my Savior God. For you brought me, yes you brought me

from a mighty, a mighty long way (a mighty long way). (Repeat words)

You've been my father, (been my father) been my mother (been my mother)

been my sister, my brother too. For you brought me yes you brought me

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH The Theological Declaration of Barmen #2

“Christ Jesus, whom God made our wisdom, our righteousness and sanctification and redemption” (I Corinthians 1:30.)

As Jesus Christ is God’s assurance of the forgiveness of all our sins, so in the same way and with the same seriousness is he also God’s mighty claim upon our whole life. Through him befalls us a joyful deliverance from the godless fetters of this world for a free, grateful service to his creatures.

We reject the false doctrine, as though there were areas of our life in which we would not belong to Jesus Christ, but to other lords – areas in which we would not need justification and sanctification through him.
