Ihavealsoattendedthe2015IvyRechargeEventwithAcademicAdvising(Evidence1.6pIvyRecharge2015AGRINotes).ThiseventwasusefultodiscussAgricultureProgram-specificissuesandreiterateourdegreerequirements.Morerecently,IalsopresentedtoagroupofAcademicAdvisorsduringaFridayMorningMeeting(Evidence1.6qFridayMorningAdvising).Itwasextremelyusefultositdowninasmallgroupanddiscusstheagricultureprogram,degrees,careers,etc.And,IcontributedtothefirstAZTransferArticle(Evidence1.6rASTransferArticle).IalsocommunicatewithallAgriculturestudentsthroughtheLafayetteAgricultureBlackboardStudentOrganization,identifyingwhenregistrationisopenandfollow-upwithstudentsthathavenotyetregistered(Evidence1.6sAdvisingEmail).

AcademicLeadershipCriteria2:DemonstratesleadershipforacademicprogramswithintheSchoolthatmayincludetheuseofassessmentdatafordevelopment,reviewandimprovementoftheacademicprogramsandhowtheymeetstudent,collegeandcommunityneedsDeveloping,reviewing,andimprovingacademicprogramsisnecessarytomeetthechangingneedsofstudents,thecollege,andthecommunity.Ihavedonethisthroughavarietyofmethods,beginningwiththeprogramreviewprocess.Theprogramanalysisisdoneinafewdifferentways:Year-EndReview,theAnnualReview,andapresentationtotheRegionalBoardofTrustees.TheYear-EndReviewisdoneaspartoftheentireregion’syearlyreviewthatispublishedanddistributedtointerestedinparties.In2015,IcompletedthisreviewfortheAgricultureProgram(Evidence1.7aYearEndReviewAGRI2015).In2016,myresponsibilityincreasedandincludedthereviewfortheentireSchoolofAppliedScienceandEngineeringTechnology,includingtheKokomoAgricultureProgram(Evidence1.7bYearEndReviewASET2016).TheAnnualReviewisdoneeveryDecemberaspartofthestatewidereviewprocess(Evidence1.7cAnnualReview2015).EveryprogrampresentsaprogramreviewtotheRegionalBoardofTrusteeseverytwoyears.InJanuary2015,IcompletedtheAgricultureReview(Evidence1.7dRBOTAgenda,Evidence1.7eAGRIProgramChair,Evidence1.7fAGRIPresentation),andamscheduletopresentinJanuary2017.IalsoattendedtheNovember2016BoardMeetingtointroduceanewFacultyFellow,SaimaMatin(Evidence1.7gRBOTIntro).Itisalsocriticalthatwegetfeedbackfromstudentsandmakeadjustmentsasneededbasedontheirfeedback.EverysemesterinAGRI290:AgricultureSeminar,studentscompleteanexitinterview.Thisisatwo-pagequestionnairethatisscheduledforthelastclasssession(Evidence1.7hAGRI290ExitInterview).Iencouragestudentstobehonestandthoroughintheirresponses.Overtime,theseresponsesarebeingcompiledintoaspreadsheetforreview(Evidence1.7iExitInterviewResponses).Ialsogetinformalcommentsfromstudentsonaregularbasisandmakeadjustmentsincoursesandprogrammaticallyaspossible.Inthespringof2015,wealsoconductedanindustrysurvey.AttherequestofafewAdvisoryBoardMembers,wecompiledalistofquestionsandsentthemtoavarietyofprogramstakeholdersincludingAdvisoryBoardMembers,InternshipCooperatingCompanies,andpotentialandexistingemployers.Theseresponses

InJanuary2016,Ialsobegan“TuesdayLunches”.AsIwasmeetingwithindustryrepresentativesfromaroundthestate,severalwererequestingcampusvisits.Thiscombinedwithgroupsofstudentswithafree-houratnoononTuesdaysledtoanewweeklyactivity.Iinvitevariousagriculturecompanies,institutions,andexpertstocampustodiscusscareeropportunities,transferoptions,andcurrentissuesinagriculture.Thesehavebeenhighlyattended,insomecasesover20attendees.(Evidence3.3rFoodExpenseApprovalRequestTuesdayLunches,Evidence3.3sBaneWelker,Evidence3.3tBelstraMilling,Evidence3.3uCeres,Evidence3.3vCo-Alliance,Evidence3.3wDowAgroSciences,Evidence3.3xINFB,Evidence3.3yPremierCropInsurance,Evidence3.3zPUCOA,Evidence3.3aaPUYDAE,Evidence3.3bbVetMedEthics)OnefinaleffortthathasbeenverysuccessfulismyinvolvementintheAgribusinessCouncilofIndiana(ACI)andAgriNovusIndiana.ACIhasprovidedseveralopportunitiestoconnectwiththeagriculturecommunity,specificallythroughtheirAnnualConferenceandtheEmergingProfessionalLeadershipProgram(EPLP).TheACIConferenceisaneventinJanuarythatbringstogetherbusinessesfromtheIndianaGrainandFeedAssociationandtheIndianaPlantFoodandAgriculturalChemicalsAssociation.Thetwo-dayconferenceincludesatradeshow,keynotepresentations,andbreakoutsessions.Itprovidesagreatoutletformetobuildprofessionalrelationshipswithpotentialemployersforourgraduates(Evidence3.3ccACIConferenceRegistrationandEvidence3.3ddACIConferenceSchedule).TheEPLPisatwelve-monthcommitmentthatincludesapproximately30emergingprofessionals.ThegroupmeetsapproximatelyeveryothermonthatvariousagriculturalbusinessesandorganizationsaroundIndianatodiscusscurrentissues.EPLPhasbeenagreatopportunityformetoengagewithotherprofessionalsaswellashoneinoncurrentissues(Evidence3.3ee2016EPLPApplicationandEvidence3.3ffEPLPAnnouncement).AlltheserelationshipsculminateatourannualEveningontheFarmEvent.ItisanannualscholarshipprogramthatoccursinthefallintheBaneAgriculturalTechnologyCenter.Itbringstogetherapproximately225agribusinessprofessionals,collegeadministrators,andstudentstoexperienceakeynotepresentationandcongratulatescholarshiprecipients.Italsoservesasanoutreacheventthatraisesfundstosupporttheagricultureprograminitiatives.Theeventhasraised$4,500,$5,500,and$22,000in2014,2015,and2016respectively.EveningontheFarmistheLafayettecampus’ssignatureeventandprovidestheagricultureprogramwithgreaterawareness.(Evidence3.3ggEOFSponsorshipList,Evidence3.3hhFinalScript,Evidence3.3iiEOFPicture,andEvidence3.3jjEOFPicture)
