Fabric filter media revenues to growSuppliers of the roll goods used to sew bags and cartridges will record sales of $1.6 billion in 2014. This is the prediction of the McIlvaine Company in the online report Fabric Filter and Elements: World Markets.

Roll goods suppliers are building new manufacturing facilities in the fast growing East Asia market. As a result, exports will nearly equal imports in this region next year. The trend continues toward membranes. This media utilises a membrane film for filtration with a non-woven substrate. Several

membrane media suppliers also supply complete bags.

Nonwoven fabrics are widely used. Woven fabrics are less popular than they were decades ago. The largest use is woven glass for high temperature applications.

The cement industry is a large consumer of fabric filter media. The biggest potential is in the power industry. New industrial boiler emission limits in the U.S. will force operators to install fabric filters. The requirement to lower toxic metal emissions will be one driver. The requirement to reduce HCl will result in the injection of lime and sodium compounds and subsequent capture in a fabric filter.

Chinese power plants have traditionally used electrostatic precipitators to capture flyash. New emission limits will result in a significant market for filters and media. This potential is so large that it could boost media purchases by $1 billion annually if all Chinese power plants made the switch.

RCI introduces basic level fuel recirculating system

The basic level fuel recirculating system from RCI Technologies.

Fuel purifier manufacturer RCI Technologies now offers a basic-level line of its Automatic Fuel Recirculating Systems (FRS).

Like RCI’s regular FRS units, the basic-level system automatically cleans and circulates stored fuel on a pre-programmed schedule. It is PLC-controlled and has a key switch and a 24-hour, seven-day programmable clock.

The system consists of an RCI fuel purifier, a continuous-duty motor and a fuel pump. The system has one general alarm relay contact, which is triggered by one of four alarms: pump failure, purifier high water level,

system high pressure and fuel catch basin leak.

This open-face unit can be wall-mounted or placed in an optional cabinet enclosure for ground mounting. The BL model has a smaller touchscreen than RCI’s other units. The PLC controls the alarms only and the only options offered are power upgrades and the addition of a 3-micron filter. The BL series is available in three flow rates: 5 gpm (FRS 660-5-BL), 11 gpm (FRS 660-11-BL) and 25 gpm (FRS 660-25-BL). The BL model replaces the former EL (entry-level) FRS.
