The library is a free service, open to the public, that offers easy to understand books, medical journals, DVDs and Internet access to assist individuals in researching health-related issues. The library offers a special classroom hand washing program for children in grades 1st through 3rd. The purpose of this

program is to teach children the importance of proper hand hygiene. Using stories and interactive activities, this 30-minute program educates children about germs and instructs them in behaviors to reduce the spread of infectious diseases. The Washington Outpatient Rehabilitation Center (WORC) provides patients with the most up-to-date rehabilitation and therapeutic services to help them return to either their prior level of functioning or to increase their level of functioning. WORC is in a spacious facility featuring excellent physical therapy equipment. The goal of the Washington Outpatient Rehabilitation team is to provide orthopedic physical therapy, outpatient occupational therapy; plus more specialized therapy care for sports medicine, concussions and vestibular (vertigo) issues. All of the services are provided by highly educated physical therapists, occupational therapists and physical therapy assistants.

Prenatal Smart StartThis is the class to sign up for when you first find out you are pregnant! It’s a class offering lively discussion, informational take-home packets, and a question-and-answer period for women and their support person in their first trimester of pregnancy. Subjects covered include: how pregnancy affects your body, healthy nutrition during pregnancy, exercises to help prepare your body for labor, and common discomforts and their remedies vs. danger signs that would indicate alerting your obstetrician. Free.

Prenatal MassagePregnancy can be a wonderful experience; however, it can also cause some discomfort. Washington’s Wellness Center offers prenatal massage which can reduce discomforts such as fatigue, headaches, lower back pain, swelling of hands and feet, leg cramps, anxiety and much more. An appointment is required.

Prepared ChildbirthIntended for couples in the last trimester of pregnancy and offering detailed information about many labor preparation topics. Subjects include: signs and symptoms of labor, stages of labor, relaxation and breathing techniques, the coach’s role, variations in labor, analgesics and anesthetics, cesarean birth, the basics of breastfeeding and postpartum recovery tips.

• Prepared Childbirth/Refresher Class For the mother and coach who have taken Prepared Child-birth classes within the last three to five years. Information about sibling adjustment is also discussed. Fee: $90

• Prepared Childbirth/Comprehensive Class Once a week for five weeks, each class is 2½ hours in duration. One full class period will be devoted to the basics of breastfeeding. Fee: $150

Infant MassageOur hands-on method ensures that you will learn the art of interactive massage to suit your baby’s schedule, needs and developmental level. Infant massage can relieve stress for you and your baby, deepen bonding, contribute to baby’s development, help baby sleep better and enhance your ability to understand your baby’s needs. This four-week class is designed for you with your baby, from birth to pre-crawling. Fee: $75

Introduction to Exercise/YogaIf you are joining our prenatal yoga program, this one-hour class is a required first step.
