Ptilotus ‘Little Prince’ A has been especially developed by cross breeding different Ptilotus species to improve the garden performance of these highly attractive Australian plants which naturally grow in the semi-arid regions of central Australia. ‘Little Prince’ A produces masses of feathery, cream flower heads with silver highlights (about 40 mm in diameter and up to 70 mm high). Flowers remain on the plant for months and contrast nicely with its dark green foliage. Best grown as an annual in the drier months, plants grow to about 30 cm high and 30 cm wide and flower year-round. Uses Ideal for mass plantings, rockeries, cottage gardens, or containers providing long lasting cut flowers. Care Prefers an open position in full sun in a well-drained soil. When planting, carefully remove from the pot to avoid disturbing the roots and plant in the hole so that the existing potting mix is slightly deeper than the surrounding ground level. Backfill the hole level with surrounding ground level and water in well. Requires minimal watering once established. Regularly prune after each flush of flowers to remove old flowering stems and apply a standard slow release fertiliser every 3 months to encourage a bushy habit and repeat flowering.
