Factors to Consider When Choosing Fashion and Style

Fashion and style have existed since the advent of clothing. In the past, designers showed off their designs on paper, making it possible for the people to place orders. This made it possible for people to choose a variety of styles and colors. High-fashion is believed to have started in London and Paris. For a long time now, fashion magazines from around the world send their personnel to London or Paris to find out the most recent trends. Furthermore, department stores send some of their workers to Paris to buy clothes. They would in turn duplicate the clothes with a little more flair. Having the right clothes can help boost your attitude. The factors to consider when choosing clothes include:

1· Your personality

Many people like to wear clothes that are comfortable on them. They are happy to wear neat and nice clothing while other people seek to wear clothing that has designer labels. However, the most important thing is that fashion and personality go hand in hand. Therefore, it is important to wear clothes that enhance your personality. If you are less flashy and quiet, you may not be comfortable in stiletto heels and glittered clothes. Although they are different styles available in the market, it is important to find one that you are comfortable with because fashion is more than the latest trends but about looking good.

2· Your body type

It is important to find the right kind of clothing for your body. Therefore, you may need to avoid clothing that is too short or too tight. This is particularly the case if you have a wider figure. Good clothes consider the fit. Tight tops that have breast pockets and short sleeves offer many distractions while high collars shorten the neck. Furthermore, shoes with straps often shorten the legs. A short necklace shortens the neck. When buying pants it is important to make sure they fit well. Small defects that are likely to go unnoticed in skirts are emphasized more in pants.

3· Best body parts

Consider wearing clothes that emphasize your best body parts. This helps to create an illusion of well-fitting clothes. Thinning fabrics offer a more slimming effect. However, it is important to consider a camisole or tank with a see through blouse or top. Tops and bottoms that have one color make the wearer to look thinner, but you can be more creative by wearing different shades. If you have a large waist, you should avoid wearing belts. Furthermore, you need to wear your accessories carefully because too many of them can give the illusion of being bigger.

Ways To Figure Out Your Style

1. Find your style iconsYou don’t need to do soul searching alone. Instead, pull ideas from others to get a handle on what your style is. Find out who your style icons are. Jot down the names of your favorite style icons and do a bit of research to gather inspiration from their looks. Having all their looks in one cohesive spot will add like a guide when it’s time to step in front of the closet and dress.

2. Pull a common theme from those iconsPeople don’t usually just stick to one style when it comes to their wardrobes – are minimalist but edgy, others are punk but vintage, and so on. To figure out what themes you enjoy the most (you can stick to them when you shop,) study those icons and pull out what they all share in common.

3. Actually write down those adjectives that qualifies youIt’s not just enough to realize what elements you like the most – you need them tangibly in front of you when you go shopping so you stick to your new style vision. Pick a few words to describe the vibe of the looks. Settle on a handful of words that feel true to your style, and write them down for future reference, as they will clarify and define your look.

4. Take pictures of what works for youIf you feel fabulous and like yourself in a certain outfit, catalog it! It’ll help you recreate similar looks in the future. Collings advised, “you know those special days when you walk out the door feeling like your most stylish self? Snap a quick picture for future reference.” Not only does it highlight the look you’re going for, but it can inspire future looks.

5. Clean your closet/wardrobeIt’s going to be hard to stick to a streamlined look when you have a bunch of pieces that acts as outliers stuffed onto hangers. In order to make your outfit-building go according to plan, clean out all the pieces that no longer fit your new look. In style offered, “edit out pieces that don’t fit the criteria. Anything borderline gets the cut, including pieces you only feel brave to wear once in a while.” This way you’ll be tempted less to mix and match in a way that doesn’t fit into the categories you’ve outlined.

6. Choose a palette (colour)Do you like warm neutral tones? Black and whites? Poppy summer shades? Busy patterns? Choose your palette and your clothes will be easier to mix and match. Style writer Katie Van Syckle from The Cut wrote “I will also find a colour palette that I’m going for and work within that colour family.” If the core of your wardrobe follows those hues, it’ll all be more cohesive.

7. Find out why you like certain pieces of clothingSay you have a favorite dress or shirt in your closet. There’s a reason it’s your favorite, and it can hold some key answers for you. Van Syckle offered, “if you know you like something, try to find out why.” Does it reflect your personality? Why does it make you feel beautiful? Comfortable? Outgoing? Figure out what parts of it you like (it’s baggy, long, colourful, etc.) and find other pieces that follow that vibe.

8. Experiment on the cheap onesIf youre unsure of a trend or a style but still want to give it a go, make sure to do it with your wallet in mind. If you want to try a culottes or a patterned suit, pick it up at cheap fashion stores so it doesn’t become high risk.

9. Play your favorite featureI, for example, feel unstoppable when I wear a dress or jumpsuit that highlights my tall frame. I walk with more purpose, I feel beautiful, and I become more, “me”. Figure out what your favorite feature is and go to town choosing pieces that highlight it.

10. Keep less in your closet (better styles doesn’t come from having more options)

It actually gets more defined when there’s less to choose from. Van Syckle explained, “I don’t want to have to sift through 20 things I know I’m not going to wear to get to the 3 or 4 cute things. If you get rid of everything that you don’t wear and narrow it down your look, then getting ready is super-easy and then you are more likely to go out and buy more of that look and get better versions of it.” You’ll realize the pieces you truly love and get variations of that to continue to build your style.

11. Dress for your lifestyleDo you love gowns but live in a small town? Adore small dress but live in a perpetual winter? While those might strike your interest, they won’t ever leave the closet because you’ll never get the chance to bust them out. Or are you trying to be more confident and outgoing? Then let your clothes help remind you of your goals. When creating your style, don’t just nab things that spark your interest, but also keep your lifestyle, your dreams, and your self-improvement in mind.

Factors for Clothing Selection

1.) Social factor:In social factor we consider following things & those area. The place of residence (urban or rural)b. Cultural background of personc. Genderd. Occupatione. Occasionf. Social states

a. The place of residence (urban or rural)Depending upon the area and place where a person lives, the pattern, shape, style of clothing changes. In urban areas because of very close cultural interaction between the various sections of people. The pattern and style of the clothing is cosmopolitan in nature. But in other hand in rural area the human clothing is influenced by regional factors.

b. Cultural background of person:The second factor which is influenced on selection of clothing is cultural background of a person and upbringing of a person.

c. Gender:The modern societies do not believe in gender biasness and strongly oppose this, but we all are still comfortable in maintaining difference is male & female.

d. Occupation:Humans select clothing depends upon his occupation. Because of this reason only we find the difference in a police man and a common man and also we find the difference in Army man and a common man.

e. Occasion:Generally humans select clothing based on the occasion namely formal wears and casual wears. In office people wear formal dress and in leisure stripe be wear casual wear.

f. Social status:Human beings are always interested to show social status through clothing. Hence in the past kings always wear royal clothing.

2.) Economic factors:In economic factors the important components are economic condition of society economic status individual and availability of technology and raw material. If there is a change in economic condition of society than it reflects on clothing. We know that the pattern of poor and rich people are different, some people select clothing based on affordability while some people selects clothing to show his economic status.

3.) Environmental factors:Environmental factors condition includes like too cold, too hot, raining, chilling wind etc. we select to take protection from extreme environment, unusual places (space or under water). The selection of clothing changes as the environmental condition changes. In this factor one person will not use same clothing in different climatic condition. Depending on climatic temperature the garments are broadly divided into two categories, winter wear clothing and summer wear clothing.

4.) Physiological factors:This factor includes age, age of the person, body structure, physiological response of body, activity level etc. the clothing patterns are changes with age of the person due to physiological with time.

Things That Influence Your Style (That Aren’t Clothes)

Style is more than just clothes. It’s how you wear them, and also what you’re trying to say through them. It is a way of instilling your identity and personality to people without saying a word, and that sort of self-knowledge doesn’t just happen overnight. There is a marked difference between people who put some efforts into their looks, and those who merely throw things on because they’d rather not be naked.

Indeed there’s a ton of things that influence someone’s personal style, and the funny thing is, plenty of them have little to do with the fashion industry. They are:

1. ClimateThe first things to do before you get dressed; check the weather. If you’re lucky to live in a tropical climate, you probably have enough shorts and tees to last a lifetime. Harsh winter; you have a go-to winter coat. Where you live and what weather like affects the kind of essentials you need in your closet. Perhaps that’s why people in the Pacific Northwest are particular about rainproof outerwear and winter gear that you can literally scale a mountain in.

2. Your JobObviously, if you have a uniform, then you don’t need to worry about what to wear to the office, but if you don’t, then a good amount of your budget goes to what you rock to your office. Of course, if you happen to work in a spot with a lax dress code. Then you’re freer to dress how you want to, rather than how corporate you think you should.

3. Other PeopleHumans are weird. Most of us have this innate desire to be accepted, and for approval. That’s why our clothing choices are subconsciously affected by a desire to not stand out. It’s the reason next level fashion heads are accused of being gay, weird or crazy. Guys also want to wear things that will make them seem attractive to the opposite sex, or won’t get them laughed at by their peers, depending on the type of girl or you’re going for, or type of crew you roll with, those also have an influence on your style.

4. Your HobbiesDo you like to skate? Then you probably wear clothes that make that easier for you. If you enjoy hunting in your spare time, then you probably have some real tree camo in your closet. Or even if you don’t actually do any of these things, being interested in them affects your clothing choices.

5. SportsVarsity jackets, button down collar shirts, and other current menswear trends all have their roots in the world of sports. Whether its putting on for your favorite team or gearing up for a big game, the sport you’re into and the sports you play can have a big part in what you wear off the field. In fact, it’s where many guys learn about matching colours and brand loyalty.

6. FurnitureYour want of an Eames Lounger versus a La-Z-Boy recliner reflect your overall taste level. Granted, you might like Philippe Starck, but your budget says you can only afford Ikea. No matter, simply having an eye for finer things means you know how to appreciate details, and why things that have been classically deemed “good” are “good”. This same eye translates over to your taste in clothes. Not saying you’ll go out and buy all designer gear, but you’ll have a better idea of what looks good on your body. After all, you already pay attention to what looks good in your house.

7. ArchitectureI.M. Pei, Frank Lloyd Wright, and Renzo Piano are names you may be familiar with, but you’ve definitely seen their work. The kinds of building and spaces you find aesthetically appealing also influence your overall taste. Whether you prefer

minimalism above all else, or clean lines associated with Mid-Century Modern, it all ties into your aesthetic preference.

8. Graphic DesignArt and style are often tied together. While the Jury’s still out on whether high fashion will ever achieve the same prominence as high art, it is evident that graphic design plays greatly into what someone will wear. The entire street-wear industry depends on the graphic T-shirt, Supreme’s box logo, etc, all depends on strong graphic design mixed with successful branding practices.

9. MoviesClothing combine with the mythology of a character and iconic pop culture moments in film, is like the fictional equivalent of Jordan dropped buckets or won championships in his signature sneakers.

10.MusicYour taste in music is probably one of the biggest influences on your style. Fans of a certain genre tend to adopt their own uniforms to find each other, whether it’s all over print paisley jackets, street-wear brands, or skinny jeans and Schott jackets. At the end of the day, music is often a gateway to the world of style, because it makes you think about clothes as a way to express yourself and your tastes to the world at large.
