Updated: July 16, 2019 FACULTY OF ENGINEERING First-Year Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) First Year Guide 2019-2020 Academic Year The table below indicates the courses you will take in your first year. You will, conveniently, register via Block Registration; this will save you from having to manually build a schedule. All lectures, tutorials and labs will automatically fit together. You select a block for each of the fall and winter terms to register for all your courses. All students within a block take labs and tutorials together; this makes it easier to meet people and find a study group. If no blocks work (sometimes closer to September), please contact an advisor. The first year of study is the same for all engineering students. At the end of the winter term, students will pick their disciplines. In winter of second year, students will have the opportunity to take courses related to their chosen discipline before being fully immersed in the discipline by the third year. For complete program requirements, see the Dalhousie Academic Calendar at www.dal.ca/calendar or ask your advisor. Congratulations, and welcome to Dal! We can’t wait until you start classes. Many of the original blocks have filled. Try adding one of the current “First Year Engi - Group” blocks in Dal

Online; if any of the courses are full or waitlisted, drop all courses on the Add/Drop page and register for a

different block.

“View your Schedule by Day & Time” after registering to see the times of all the lectures, labs and tutorials.
