2 FAIR HOUSING & HURRICANE SEASON | RESILIENCE OUTREACH APPLICATION 2020 CITY OF HOUSTON | HOUSING AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT
OVERVIEWAn ongoing cycle of flooding has made it more difficult for Houstonians to find safe homes. With this additional pressure on the housing market, it has become critical that we ensure everyone has access to fair housing information. As hurricane season begins, we must raise awareness around flood preparation and fair housing resources.
To this end, the City of Houston Housing and Community Development Department (HCDD) is seeking community advocate groups to organize and execute community outreach programs. Strong proposals will focus on advertising and education around fair housing and hurricane preparedness and will emphasize reaching historically underserved populations. Work should be done at the neighborhood level and build knowledge, ensuring that residents are better prepared for hurricane season.
