FAIR PARK, DALLAS STATE FAIR OF TEXAS • SEPT 29 – Oct 22 SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER 2017 EDITION On Monday, September 18, the DCTA will launch Transit Tracker – its new vehicle tracking system that will provide passengers with access to real-time information for the DCTA A-train, fixed-route bus and shuttle services. Passengers will be able to track agency vehicles via phone, online, text and free mobile application. DCTA’s Transit Tracker will replace the agency’s current Where’s My Ride tracking tool. The real-time information in DCTA’s Transit Tracker system is powered by Swiftly – a company that develops enterprise software to help transit agencies and cities improve urban mobility – who generates schedule data in General Transit Feed Specification R package (GTFSR) format and real-time Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) data (GPS trackers installed on agency vehicles). The Transit Tracker mobile app, web portal and homepage widget are provided by Transit, a mobile application company whose goal is to simplify the commute in more than 125 cities worldwide. Each DCTA vehicle that contains a GPS unit can be tracked by DCTA’s Transit Tracker to provide that specific vehicle’s arrival time. Riders will be able to access real-time vehicle arrival information on the A-train, Connect Bus System (Denton and Lewisville), Campus Shuttles (University of North Texas and North Central Texas College) and Highland Village Connect Shuttle.     DCTA HOSTING FALL PUBLIC MEETINGSDCTA will host public meetings in mid-September in Denton, Highland Village and Lewisville to discuss major agency projects and initiatives, including: fare changes, promotional A-train free fare zones, recent August service changes, Brownfield Remediation Project, Program of Projects, and the agency’s new Transit Tracker system.     FREE SHUTTLE SERVICE FOR LEWISVILLE WESTERN DAYS FESTIVALDCTA will provide complimentary event shuttle service for the Lewisville Western Days Festival. Shuttles will operate Friday, September 29, from 4 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. and Saturday, September 30, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. The shuttle run every 20 minutes and will pick up passengers from the Old Town and Hebron Stations and drop them off near the festival grounds.

    NEW PROMOTIONAL A-TRAIN FREE FARE ZONESDCTA rolled out new Free Fare Zones as a promotional effort to support riders and their travel behaviors. The rail line between the Downtown Denton Transit Center and the MedPark Station, as well as between the Hebron Station and the Trinity Mills Station no longer require a paid fare.     HIGHLAND VILLAGE FLAG STOPSDCTA has launched flag stops for certain areas along the Highland Village Connect Shuttle route. The new flag stops will allow riders to signal a driver to board the shuttle without being at an official stop. Flag stopping is not permitted along the I-35E service road, FM 407 or Village Parkway.     The Lewisville Western Days Festival will take place Friday, September 29, from 5 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. and Saturday, September 30, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. in Old Town Lewisville. Three festival stages will feature national and regional live music, with headliners Turnpike Troubadours and the Randy Rogers Band. In addition to music, there will be many activities to partake in such as trick ropers, kid’s stick horse rodeo and more. Festival goers can ride the A-train to the Old Town or Hebron Station and take
