    What is Fair Trade?Fair Trade: A Commitment to Building Relationships

    At its heart, Fair Trade is about building respectful, enduring relationships. Fair Trade embodies a comprehensive set of criteria,including, at minimum, the following commitments:

    Paying a fair wage in the local context Offering employees opportunities for advancement Providing equal employment opportunities for all people, particularly the most disadvantaged Engaging in environmentally sustainable practices Being open to public accountability Building long-term trade relationships Providing healthy and safe working conditions within the local context Providing financial and technical assistance to producers whenever possible

    Fair Trade Christmas Bazaar Organizations:Catholic Relief Services: Products available through the Work of Human Hands project, giving us the opportunity to supportdisadvantaged artisans and farmers oversees from 90 producer groups in over 30 countries around the world.

    Caf Justo: Caf Justo is a coffee grower cooperative based in Chiapas, Mexico. We market a pure, organic coffee which is grown,harvested and marketed in the spirit of justice. Our goal is to provide incentives for people to remain on their family lands.

    Refugee Focus Womens Empowerment Program(Catholic Charities & Lutheran Social Services): Catholic Charities has a coffee

    shop/wine bar called The Refuge, which will provide handmade items from the Womens Empowerment Program. All profits from sales godirectly to the refugee artisan. Refugees are individuals who have fled their countries of origin and who meet the United Nations criteriaof having a well-founded fear of persecution for reasons of race, religion, nationality, social group or political opinion.

    Gifts from Bethlehem: This group sells hand carved olivewood religious wares and other items which are the projects of Christianfamilies living in Bethlehem. Sales from these projects benefit these families and help them make a living so they do not have to leavetheir homeland for economic reasons.
