FAIRBANKS SUMMER FINE ARTS FESTIVAL

PRESENTED BY

The mission of the Fairbanks Summer Fine Arts Festival is to provide highly qualified guest artists who offer multidisciplinary study and performance opportunities that increase both personal growth and arts appreciation to all participants. Our philosophy is to enrich the lives of all—through study and performances—by engaging their spirit, intellect and energy in an empowering way.

The Festival gives people who are enthusiastic about the fine arts an outlet to release their passions. We offer classes and workshops at various ability levels, so beginners will find plenty to do. Given the multi-disciplinary nature of our course offerings, a participant with one main area of study has the opportunity to branch out and the explore other arts: a violinist can take ballroom dance before their orchestra rehearsals, or a painter can play in a steel drum band after spending all day in watercolor classes.

Think of the Festival as summer camp for adults. You get to make new friends, hone your artistic talents, and just have fun. There are concerts nearly every day, so keeping busy is not a problem. The Festival takes place in Fairbanks, which often has beautiful weather at that time of year, so you can enjoy some extremely long days, and maybe take a weekend trip to Denali to see nature at its best.

ONE MORE FAMILY NEEDED! You can help promote global peace in your own home by hosting an international exchange student. You can also recommend a non-Rotarian family to host. Please pass the word around. Exposure to new cultures and customs is a powerful way to learn about the world. And it’s not just students who benefit – your family will become enriched by extended, friendly contact with a young person from a different culture. Exchange hosting typically lasts 3-4 months, but your family could be left with a friend for life.

If you are interested in hosting an exchange student, please contact Nicole Stewart at [email protected] or call her at 452-0616.

ROTARY YOUTH EXCHANGE

FROM THE PRESIDENT!

It’s summer and that means it’s time to picnic! The Fairbanks Rotary Club is having a picnic at Harding Lake for members and their families. Come for a good time and to socialize with fellow Rotarians. You can arrive early or late, but bring a dish to share and your favorite beverage. We hope to see you there!

When: Friday, July 22Where: Rocky & Sandy Wilson’s lake cabin

FAIRBANKS ROTARY PICNIC

In Rotary business, please remember to have a red badger or guest at each table or face being fined. Also be ready to have the oldest member at the table share something about the guest or red badger. As for your phone, please be sure they are on silent or face a $25 fine if they go off. Also try not to look too much at them during the meeting to honor our guests and speakers.

DIRECTIONS FROM FAIRBANKS: Head south on the Richardson Highway about 50 miiles to the first hill. Do not turn on Harding Drive. Turn towards the lanke on Salcha Drive. When you come the the T, turn right. Follow around the lake about five miles past Camp Bingle until you arrive at the flats. Keep going until you come to the sign that says “End of the Road 1000 feet.” We are the second driveway on the left, BEFORE the sign. Our cabin is golden log with a red roof. If you come by boat, we are a silver dock approximately seven from the end. Signs will be posted on the road and lake to direct you to a GREAT TIME.
