There are Sunday School classes for all ages following worship this morning at 11:20 so that we might grow and be equipped as disciples, so instead of heading out, please prayerfully consider grabbing a quick snack in Fellowship Hall and then joining a class or conversation!
Worship sheets and activity bags for children are available from the ushers.
Assistive listening devices are available for those with hearing difficulties.
Large print hymnals are available. Please ask an usher for assistance.

THE ORDER OF MORNING WORSHIP SIXTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
10:00 AM FEBRUARY 12, 2017
THE FIRST NOTE OF THE PRELUDE begins our worship. Please use the prelude time to turn your attention to God’s presence and help. As worship is not an obligatory offering unto God, but a natural
response to God’s goodness, take time to consider all the reasons, big and small, for which you are thankful unto God. Nurturing our relationships and friendships in fellowship is essential to our life as a
congregation, so please continue to do so following our time
of worship.
Those who are able are invited to stand. Latecomers may be seated.

POSTLUDE “Fanfare” ERIC THIMAN
PRAYER FOR FORGIVENESS (in unison) How often we make the wrong choices, God of our lives! We
look at others through the prism of lust, distorting who they
really are. We let our 'mad' feed us with bitterness and
hurt. We toss about harmful words like so many snowballs on a
winter's day. We would rather insult those around us, than to
lift them up. Have mercy on us, God who is everywhere. May we set
aside our quarreling natures to be united in common worship,
common service, and a common purpose, as we follow Jesus
Christ, our Lord and Savior. SILENCE IS KEPT
AFFIRMATION OF FAITH
Leader: Christ came, so we might be healed by God’s tender touch.
Christ came, so we might be reconciled to one another.
People: Thanks be to God! As risky, as hard as it may be,
we will choose to be God’s people. Amen.
HYMN OF ASSURANCE #579 GLORIA PATRI Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, World without end. Amen, Amen.

This morning, we welcome The Rev. Matilda Chase. Tillie Chase is an Honorably Retired Teaching Elder in the PC (USA). She retired as Interim Pastor at the Olivet United Presbyterian Church in Easton, PA. Rev. Chase is trained as a Spiritual Director.
Before answering God’s call to ordained ministry as a Teaching Elder, Rev. Chase worked in the corporate world in the areas of banking, finance, and computer design and installation. She has also served as both a Deacon and an Elder. In her spare time, Tillie is a potter, and plays the violin in the East Stroudsburg University/Community Orchestra.
NEW HYMNALS You have an opportunity to donate funds toward the purchase
of the new Presbyterian Hymnal, “Glory to God” for congregational use during worship. The cost of each hymnal is $20, plus $1 to cover the cost of shipping. Our goal is to purchase 120 hymnals in order to have enough to place in each pew.
Envelopes will be available in the pews to collect your donations,
with spaces for dedicating hymnals “In Memory” or “In Honor” of someone special. These dedications will be printed inside the front covers of the hymnals.
You will also have opportunities to learn more about the new hymnals. Copies will be available in the Narthex to review, and Suzanne Seem will be offering workshops on the hymnals, including
singing hymns. The 2nd workshops is scheduled for February 19 in the sanctuary during the discipleship time.

page of the church website (http://faithchurchemmaus.org/donate/).
PER CAPITA Have you noticed the little blue envelope in your pledge card
box? If you are not sure what it is for, per capita is a set amount of money (apportionment) per member that congregations pay to the larger Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). Every Presbyterian shares in the benefit of the PC (USA)’s system of government, so every Presbyterian is asked to share the expenses associated with coordinating and performing the functions of that system. The 2017 individual rate is $28.76, to be paid to our church. Thank you!
