Breaking News - Word on the Street

FalconStor's skinny bird flies higher, faster “FalconStor has enhanced the technology in its foundation IPStor platform with virtual storage appliances, and released significantly improved network storage server and continuous data protection products, extending thin provisioning to replication and disaster recovery. It can also accelerate storage performance through solid state disk (SD) appliances.” --Paul Roberts, news editor.

FalconStor Offers Software Version Of IPStor “The Melville, N.Y.-based software vendor also made its continuous data protection software into a stand-alone appliance for small and midsize businesses and remote offices, and made it available for bundling with servers that come with the embedded version of the ESX server virtualization software from VMware, Palo Alto, Calif.” --By Joseph F. Kovar, ChannelWeb

Breaking News - Word on the Street

FalconStor releases IPStor 6.0 “FalconStor has enhanced IPStor in the areas of disaster recovery, business continuance, and virtual server support and is now selling its software as three separate products: Network Storage Server (NSS), Continuous Data Protector (CDP), and Virtual Tape Library (VTL). New to the overall platform is so-called "thin disaster recovery," which extends the concept of thin provisioning to data mirroring and replication and eliminates the need for identical storage allocations at the data center and the disaster-recovery site.” --By Kevin Komiega

FalconStor upgrades, repackages IPStor storage virtualization software “With the new release, FalconStor added features to each module. It added support to NSS for solid-state drives (SSD) and InfiniBand connectivity. NSS is used to manage and provision iSCSI and Fibre Channel SANs. SSDs managed under NSS can also be used with a pre-existing feature called Hot Zone, which moves data from slower disks to faster disks, either on demand or automatically according to
