NCHPS The North Carolina Chapter of the Health Physics Society (NCHPS) is a professional organization dedicated to the development, dissemination and application of the scientific knowledge of and practical means for radiation protection. NC HPS Chapter did a different type of meeting. This was a one day meeting at North Carolina State University. The meeting con- sisted of presentations from students only. Our goal of the meeting was to advocate for students and help them answer potential ques- tions that they may have when they are getting ready to graduate and enter the work force. There were two students from Duke University, Chu Wang and Matthew Belley. Two other students were from Clemson University, Stephanie Hoelbling and Rachel Pope. Duke University students presented topics related in the medical field, while Clemson University students presented on topics relat- ed to the environment. The student presentations are located at http://hpschapters.org/northcarolina/meetingfall2015.php. After the meeting, we hosted a series of round table discussions. Discussion topics ranged from resume building, job searches, how to network, how to interview, and how is radiation staying current in today’s work force. Everyone provided input including various vendors. Our ultimate goal was to assist students and to prepare them to go out into the work force. The Chapter members asked the students for suggestions on how we could grow the chapter. The chapter is always looking for ways to expand enrollment, and get new members into the society. We asked for their input as well for the upcoming meeting that we will be hosting in 2017. They did provide us with some good thoughts that we are hoping to implement. Our next Chapter meeting will be March 3 and 4, 2016 lat the Marriot Courtyard in Carolina Beach, NC. We will be offering a Continuing Education Course on March 3, followed by presenters in various fields in relation to health and safety. We will also have our annual student paper competition. We hope to see you there! 2015 Fall Meeting Review by President-Elect Giao Nguyen Fall 2015
