Jill Clevenger Hartness (’86), a Chattanooga native, is in her
6th year as President of Boyd Buchanan School. Hartness
holds degrees from Lipscomb University and the University
of Tennessee.
She served as a BBS Trustee for 5 years and an officer of the
board for 3 years. She was honored as the Boyd Buchanan
School Distinguished Alumnus of 2010.
Hartness currently serves on the board of the National
Christian School Association, World Christian Broadcasting,
TAIS Administrative Services Committee, is a graduate of
Leadership Chattanooga, and is active in both her church
and community.
Jill and her husband, Jeb (’88), have been married for 25
years and have two children, Grayson (’14) and May (’17).
Joe (‘81) received a BS from Lipscomb University, an MS
from MTSU, and an EdS from Lincoln Memorial. He has
been a teacher, coach or administrator at BBS since 1992.
Joe has coached football, basketball (Assistant Coach for
State Championship Team), and girls and boys (Coach for
State Runner-up Team) soccer.
Joe is married to Jena Kay Davis Pope (’82). They have two
children, Samantha (’10) and Cameron (’14).

SPORTS MEDICINE
Kristy Murray, originally from Nettleton,
MS, graduated from the University
of Southern Mississippi with a BS in
Sports Medicine with specialization
in Athletic Training and a minor in
Coaching and Sports Administration.
She also has an MS from UTC in Athletic
Training.
This is her 17th year as an athletic
trainer at Boyd Buchanan. She has
been an athletic trainer for the TN/GA
All-star football game 5 times. She also
works as a clinical instructor for UTC
athletic training program.
Kristy is married to Todd Murray and
they have two children Madison (6)
and Ryan (4). Kristy joined BBS Faculty
and is teaching Sports, Exercise and
Health Science.
Dr. Robertson (’93) graduated from
Lipscomb University with a BS in
Chemistry. He then received his MD
from ETSU-Quillen College of Medicine
and did his Sports Medicine
Fellowship at Andrews Sports Med-
icine and Orthopedics. He has been
the team physician for the
Chattanooga Lookouts since 2007 as
well as for the Chattanooga Football
Club since 2008.
He has been the Team physician for
Boyd Buchanan since 2012 and has
served on the Board of Directors for
four years.
Jason and his wife Amber (’98) have
five children; Riley (6th grader), Jancey
(4th grader), Royce (2nd grader),
Jenson (K4) and Rider (2).
Benji Miller, MD is a board certified
orthopedic surgeon at the Chattanooga
Center for Sports Medicine and
Orthopaedic Center. Dr. Miller hails
from Hamilton, Alabama, a small rural
town in northwest Alabama. He was
drawn to medicine from his early
interactions with his family
physician, and later became very
interested in orthopaedics and
specifically sports medicine from his
love of sports.
He earned his Doctor of Medicine in
2008 from the University Of Alabama
School Of Medicine, and performed his
orthopaedic residency at the University
of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.
Dr. Miller’s wife, Hannah (‘05), is an
alumna of Boyd Buchanan School and
one daughter Libby (2).

Coach Cardwell is currently a teacher and head football coach. Carter was a walk-on member of the football team at Middle Tennessee State University and graduated witha degree in education in 1981. He began his teaching andcoaching career at Philadelphia School and Loudon HighSchool.
After two years at Philadelphia, Carter was awarded a graduate assistant position at Clemson University working with the Tiger football program. He earned a master’s degree in Education in 1985.
Carter’s coaching stops included Auburn University wherehe coached in the Cotton Bowl and Florida Citrus Bowl.He also has coached at Catawba College, The VirginiaMilitary Institute, the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga, Maryville College, and The University of The South.
Carter has coached four NFL players including a #1 draftchoice and one Tennessee Scholar Athlete of the year. Hepreviously served as the Recruiting Evaluator for FootballUniversity Football Camps, and started the QuarterbackReceiver camps at Maryville College that included formerVols Bobby Scott, Heath Shuler, and Peyton Manning.
Carter and his wife, Allison, have been married 27 years, and have three sons, Jim (‘14), Jack, and John.

JENNIFER GREERCHEER COACHJennifer Greer received a master’s degree in Counseling from Tennessee Tech, where she also cheered. Mrs. Greer has 6 years of experience as a cheer coach for BBS and was excited to return to this role in 2017. Jennifer is the BBS elementary counselor. She and her husband, Bill (‘89), have two children, Will (‘16), and Kay, a junior at BBS.

Jeremy Womack received a bachelor’s degree in Music Education and an MBA from UTC. He has been directing the BBS Band for 13 years, and under his direction, the BBS Band won the 2006-07 USSBA Tennessee State Championship. Todd (‘01) was a four-year soccer letterman at BBS and played in the 1998 state championship game. Todd went on to play soccer at Tennessee Wesleyan College. He holds a USSF D license. He was previously a coach at David Brainerd School, Ooltewah High School, and Grace Academy. Todd and his wife, Vanessa, have a son Charlie (1).

Prior to her five-year stint as head coach at University of Illinois-Chicago, Coach Mueller had five successful seasons at South Florida, where she owned a 106-60 (.639) record. She led multiple teams to NCAA Tournaments and was a two-time AVCA Midwest Regional Coach of the Year selection. Coach Mueller graduated from UT (‘93) with a bachelor’s degree in Education, Exercise Physiology.

Coach Eric Garner is entering his 4th year at Boyd Buchanan School and has coached MS Cross Country each year. Coach Garner began coaching HS Cross Country this year. In addition to coaching MS and HS cross country, Coach Garner teaches 6th grade math and is also the minister for the Avondale Church of Christ. Eric and his wife, Daljuania (Del-wana) have two beautiful daughters; Aiyana, a freshman at BBS High School, and Leilani is 2.

Coach Connelly has led BBS golf teams to many ISC Championships and both the boys and girls high school golf teams have consistently made it to the State Golf Championship. Ed’s grandson Hayes Wood (11th) plays on the high school team. Ed’s daughters Christy and Renee both graduated from BBS and four of his grandchildren attend BBS. His wife, Carol, retired from BBS after 36 years. Coach Connelly received his BS in Accounting from MTSU and retired as CFO of Fillauer Companies, Inc. in 2011.
