SchoolSupport Services assists Military Families with

information on the 17 surround-ing public schools which includes Lawton Public Schools, four Lawton private schools, and the Fort Sill Garrison, but also ranges from Cyril to Walters and Frederick to Duncan. The School Liaison Officers (SLOs) are a vital part of the School Sup-port Services. SLOs gather and distribute informa-tion. They can help with enrollment information such as what to look for in finding a good school, school con-tact information, and much more. SLOs also coordinate programs such as STARBASE, STARBASE 2.0 and the Army Partnership with Local Area Schools (APLAS). STARBASE

is the +Science, Technology, Engi-neering and Math (STEM) program for 5th graders to help teach STEM concepts in a hands-on environment with fun projects such as rocket building. STARBASE 2.0 is an afterschool STEM club for 6th-8th graders. The club has three parts, mentoring, team building and robotics. APLAS is a school partnering program that enables active duty soldiers to be involved in their child’s educa-tion. The soldiers can partner with a school for activities, mentor in the middle school, help provide leader-ship activities for high schools, and attend their child’s parent\teacher conferences. For more info, call (580)442-4190/4266.
