The Berkeley Senior Center hours of operation are Monday - Friday from 8am to 4pm. Classes are conducted in the Computer Lab on the lower level of the Center and space is limited to 9 students per class. Tuition fees must accompany registration and all refund requests must be received 1 week prior to the start of class. In the event a class is cancelled, full refunds will be issued. Intro To Computers A fun self paced class for those not proficient with the mouse or keyboard. This course is intended to familiarize students with the parts of a computer through guided activities. Students will progress at their own speed through the game type programs with instructors available to assist as needed. Students are encouraged to bring their laptop computers if they like. Course 102 Instructor: N. Triggs Tuition is $25.00 for those ages 60 and over and $35.00 for those under 60 and non-Berkeley County residents. Personal Tutoring—Must Register In Advance Individual instruction for your computers, iPads, smartphones, and tablets. Trainers will help with Microsoft office programs, setting up devices, personalizing, security, malware, spyware, installing and uninstalling apps, internet browsing with Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer, Chrome or Firefox, email, texting, photo management on devices, database instruction, spreadsheet help, Windows 10 or 7, and more. Call to have a computer lab trainer set up a specific time just for you. Course 101 Tuition is $25.00 for those 60 and over and $35.00 for those under 60 and non-Berkeley County residents. Intro To Facebook If you are using Facebook or want to try it out, join us for some important information on setting up your account, getting the privacy settings right, finding your friends and pages to like, learning how to share with many folks or just one, and upload and share photos. A fun, informational, beginners class to help you feel comfortable and know what information you are sharing. Course 103 Instructor: K. Taking Better Pictures With Your Cell Phone Learn how to take better pictures with the standard features of your cell phone and additional features that can be obtained by downloading free photography apps. Learn to control your flash, how to frame and compose your picture, how to adjust focus and exposure, edit your picture, how and when to use HDR, and how to send your finished picture electronically to others. Although primarily for iPhone users, this class has a lot of tips that can be used by Android phone users also. You will be downloading some free or minimal cost apps onto your phone before the class. The week before class you will be notified about what apps you need. Course 104 Instructor: B. Photoshop Elements 9 This class is for anyone wanting to know more about Photoshop Elements (PSE). A prior knowledge of PSE is not required but the student should be fairly proficient with the keyboard and mouse. Whether you’re a beginner or someone with some experience with the program, the class will provide something for everyone. The class will include information about the PSE workspaces with emphasis on cloning, imaging, resizing, layering, airbrushing, and cropping. Everything to assist you in improving your photographs and expanding your creativity! Course 105 Instructor: M. Introduction to Business Administration
Objective: Understanding and growing your business will require establishing a solid
foundation of internal controls including accounting, auditing, purchasing and damage
control planning. This course will give you an overview of what you need to prepare for.
This course will prepare the student for the next course “Business Administration”.
Additionally, this course is developed to instruct the student in the beginning stages of
educational values of Management/Human Resource Management/Employee Management
and Client Control of Business Management. After successful completion of this course, the
student will have the educational aptitude to manage any business under their interest
(Associates Degree level). Course is very fast pace. This course should not be confused
with “Business Administration”.

Beginner Guitar Guitar is easy. Anyone can learn to play. Just as everyone can learn to walk. Of course it takes a couple of years to learn to walk. This class will help you take the first couple of steps. Playing guitar is a matter of fretting strings with one hand and making rhythm with the other. In this class you will learn five to ten chords which is enough to play hundreds of songs. *Students must be 15 years of age and older. Course 201 Instructor: J. Including colors (Not necessarily those in the image), weaving on the diagonal, and adding surface embellishments will make your basket truly eye-catching. Boot Kicker Dance Classes Beginner Level This is a seven-week session for the beginner dancer. In this class, a student will learn approximately 85% of all steps needed for any type of dance. Although this beginner class is centered around Country Music and a Western, Cowboy/Cowgirl theme, most of the dances taught can be danced to any kind of music. Completion of this class is required to enter the Intermediate Level Class. Although some couple dances are taught, you do not need a partner. It is best to wear smooth-soled low heel shoes or boots. Boot Kicker Dance Classes Intermediate Level This is two seven-week sessions for the Intermediate-level dancer. This level is sometimes called “Improver” or “Advanced Beginner”. These fourteen weeks of classes are designed to prepare the dancer for the more complicated movements of the Advance-Level classes. It covers the basics of different styles of dance such as the Mambo and Swing. You will also learn many couple and line dances. A partner is not required. Course 208 (1st Session) Instructor: A. Knit or Crochet for Charity If you knit, crochet, or do any other needlecrafts and would like to use your time and talents to donate handmade items to local charities, this group will give you the opportunity to enjoy an afternoon of needlework while doing just that. Please bring your own knitting needles/crochet hooks/yarn/supplies to class. The only cost to you is your time, talents, and whatever yarn you can provide. There will be a variety of knit and crochet patterns and project ideas available. There may also be some donated yarn available at class. Flight Training Ground School To earn a Private Pilot, Recreational Pilot, Sport Pilot certificate, among other requirements, one needs to pass a written exam on the following subjects: *Airplanes and Aerodynamics *Airplane Instruments, engines and systems *Airports, Air Traffic Control and Airspace *Federal Aviation Regulations *Airplane Performance and Weight and Balance *Aero Medical Factors and Aeronautical Decision Making *Aviation Weather *Aviation Weather Services *Navigation: Charts and Publications *Navigation Systems *Cross-Country Flight Planning This course prepares the student to take the FAA Private Pilot, Recreational Pilot, or Sport Pilot Knowledge test. We use the Jeppesen curriculum and include the text and related workbooks, flight computer, and navigation plotter in our Private Pilot Kit. This course will be held at Aero-Smith Flight Center at Martinsburg Eastern West Virginia Regional Airport, 214 Aviation Way, Martinsburg, WV 25405. Holiday Candies Workshop Enjoy an evening learning how to make festive holiday candies. Fillings, molded candies, and dipped chocolate candies. A portion of the class will be demonstration with “hands on” class participation. Treat yourself to an evening out with an instructor with over 30 years experience in candy making. Tarot Spreads: Mapping the Landscape Now that you’re familiar with some of the inhabitants and landmarks in the Tarot world, how do you organize your materials so that you have as much information as you’re looking for? We’ll look at how you can build spreads of your own. Come with your tarot deck and an area of your life that needs clarification; you’ll be reading a spread of your own creation. *Prerequisite: Tarot...It’s Easier Than You Think or other Tarot experience.
