    25 Ways for Families to Work Together in Ministry

    1. Go together as a family to church. Be there when the doors are open.2. Let your children see that God is the most important person in your live.

    Make sure your children know that God is first place in your devotions to

    Him. Be careful not to send a message that other things are more

    important than worshiping God on Sunday.

    3. Talk about the sermon when you get home. Ask your children questionsabout what they learned and liked best.

    4. Select one Sunday a month for your kids to sit in church with you during thewhole service time rather than Childrens Church.

    5. When someone is sick, pray for them as a family.6. Bake some cookies with your children, and take them with you to visit a sick

    individual.

    7. Take your children with you and visit a nursing home once a month. If theysing or play an instrument, encourage them to do this. If they are good

    readers, have them read some verses from the Bible. If they enjoy drama,

    let them prepare a simple skit for the elderly.

    8. Make a card together for sick people as a family. Have all family memberssign the card.

    9. Invite a family over to your home including their children. Play games andhave a good time of fellowship. No gossip permitted.

    10.Have family devotions together and read the bible and pray. Ask yourchildren to share things they need prayer for, and pray together for each

    other.

    11.When you church plans Walk for Life, take your children along to beparticipants. Explain to them what this means and the importance ofLife.

    12.During Easter, dye eggs together and donate to the church egg hunt.13.Sit together in church as a family rather than on different chairs or pews

    around the building.

    14.Practice a song together teaching the kids the chorus only and sing forchurch.

    15.Encourage you children to learn an instrument to broaden their talents,and to be used for God.

    16.Make a scrapbook of all the fun things you do together, and sit on an opentable for review.

    17.Teach them to greet elderly in the church and tell them Good Morning.Give them a set number of hands to shake each week like 5 to begin with.

    18.Teach them to help the elderly and offer to carry heavy things for them.19.Ask your pastor if they can have a part in the serve once a month for

    example: take the offering on Wednesday, prayer for the offering, close in

    prayer, sing a song, read a passage of Scripture, testify, distribute bulletins

    or song sheets.

    20.Praise your children when you see them do good things that will buildcharacter. Refrain from praising them excessively if they look pretty, make

    straight As or earn a trophy.This way they will learn what is the mostvaluable in Gods sight. It is not how we look on the outside, but the heart.

    Teach these Truths to your children.

    21.Go as a family on church work day, and give your kids a job to do.They canpull weeds, pick up trash, empty the garbage, and wipe pews, ect.

    22.Visit a shut-in in your church as a family. Do not stay too long as this maybe difficult for small children and make elderly anxious if they get fussy.

    23.Invite a lonely individual who lives alone to your home on a Sunday dinner.Show kindness and let your kids set the table.

    24.Participate in a Progressive Dinner in your home allowing your children toserve the course that your family will provide.

    25.Do a family car wash for teens support in your church. (Make sure yourchildren are old enough, and clear rules established on how to wash and

    take care of the cars of other people.
