Set some time aside once each month to learn new parenting skills, replenish your toolkit, and build your confidence as a parent. Engage with leading-edge, research-based information and strategies to promote healthy and age-appropriate child development. Each session includes guided discussion time, which allows you to share your joys and concerns, your challenges and experiences—and benefit from group wisdom.
Individual Parent EducationDo you have questions you think are best addressed individually? You’re not alone, and nothing will surprise us! Schedule some one-on-one time with a licensed parent educator. We’re available with flexible schedules to provide research, information, advice and support on topics including:
• Child/adolescent development• Discipline• Communication skills• Nurturing self-esteem• Tantrums• Eating, sleeping or toilet training• Sibling issues• Curfews• Parent/child relationships• School readiness• Any other parenting concerns

GREETINGS FROM THE CAMP DIRECTOR!
Join Book Buddies! This summer, our themes include Creative
Crayons, I Like Me, How Does Your Garden Grow?, Peek In a Pond
and To Market, To Market. In addition to being exposed to books and
authors, children will learn activities that focus on the STEM ( Science,
Technology,Engineering &Math) model. They will have fun: learning
about bodies and how they work in the “All About Me” unit, learning
how things grow and planting seeds in the “How Does Your Garden
Grow?” unit and experimenting with color mixing and counting
shapes in the “Creative Crayon” unit.

Parent-Toddler SwimParents work together with the instructor to encourage their young children (ages 1-4) to become comfortable in the water and to develop a readiness to swim. Toys and games help make this a fun and positive experience. Swim diapers required if not toilet trained. A parent or guardian is required to participate in the water with their child. Kay Zuccaro.

The Edina Family Center offers high-quality early education programs for families with children from birth through age five. Programs include new “Baby and Me” classes, Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE), preschool, childcare, and more. If you have questions call: 952-848-3908.

YOUTH PROGRAMS Youth programs offer a variety of fun and educational activities for ages 3-18, including classes and camps, KIDS Club (gr. K-3), WISE Guys (gr. 4-5), and SURGE (gr. 6-9)out-of-school time care. Service Learning and Youth Serving Youth provide student leadership and service opportunities. Youth Enrichment offers a wide array of enrichment opportunities at multiple sites before and after school as well on many school release days. If you have questions call: 952-848-3952.

Book Buddies provides an enriched preschool experience for children ages 2-5. Children enjoy the wonder of familiar and new authors and illustrators with the added dimension of STEM focus, (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). Children will discover the excitement of these components in books geared for their ages.
The books of the week set the stage for the activities: science, math, technology, art projects, group time, music, games, outdoor play time, snack time and much more.
Please note: No Class June 29 - July 6.

Kindergarten Camp is in collaboration with the Edina public Schools Kindergarten staff. Each session will offer enrichment, field trip, Smart Board time, and an integrated curriculum of language and literacy, math, science and dramatic play. Get your child excited and prepared for Kindergarten!

Early Childhood Family Education, or ECFE, allow parents to attend class with their children. All classes allow for parent/child interaction and some separation for a portion of the time. Parents discuss child development and family issues with a trained Parent Educator, while the children follow a curriculum planned by licensed Early Childhood teachers.
Please Note: The age of your child as of June 1, 2015, determines your class for the summer.

ECFE is guaranteed affordable. No one will be turned away due to inability to pay. Depending on your family income, you may qualify for a discount. Locate your gross family annual income on the scale below. The percentage listed under “Percentage Paid of Class Fee Tuition” is the percentage you will pay of the original tuition fee listed for the class. The sibling care fee is 50% of your class fee.
One-to-One VisitsOne-to-one visits are offered with no fee to support all expectant families and families with children up to two years old.

• Opportunities to connect with other families with newborns in the area.

We provide a gentle and loving atmosphere for children 6 weeks through Preschool. Your child will spend time in age-appropriate activities under the supervision of our highly trained, dedicated staff. We are licensed by the Department of Human Services.

FAMILY CENTER CLASSES/CAMP GUIDELINES
Cancellations and refunds: Although most classes run, we
reserve the right to cancel classes due to low enrollment.
We make cancel decisions three business days before the
start date of your class. Your tuition will be refunded in full,
except for the $5 registration fee which is non-refundable.
Weather: Refunds are not available due to inclement
weather, ie. extreme heat or rain.
Payment: We accept VISA and Mastercard. Your credit
card will be billed for Book Buddies, Kindergarten
Camp and/or Block Time once your registration has been
accepted. For ECFE enrollments, your card will be charged at time of registration. There is a non-refundable $5.00
registration fee for all summer 2015 enrollments.
Birth-date guidelines:
• 2 year old Book Buddies – your child must be two by March 1, 2015.
• 3-5 year old Book Buddies – your child must be between 3 - 5 years old by June 1, 2015.
• Kindergarten Camp – your child must be enrolled in kindergarten for the 2015-2016 school year.
Children with special needs: Call 952-848-4814 if your child needs assistance in attending a class. Scheduling
paraprofessionals during out of school times is different than during the school day and while we will do our best to
honor your request, we cannot guarantee assistance. Giving us a 2 week notice will help ensure that we have plenty of
time to find support for your child during his/her class.

WAYS TO REGISTER
Question: How old does my child have to be to register?
Answer: • 2 year old classes – must be 2 by March 1, 2015
• All other classes - must be 3, 4, or 5 by June 1, 2015
• Kindergarten Camp – must be enrolled in Kindergarten for the 2015/2016 school year
Question: What is ECFE?
Answer: Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) provides a supportive atmosphere to explore parenting
methods and create quality connections with your child.
Question: Do you offer child care over the summer?
Answer: Part time summer child care is available from 8:30-1:30 Monday-Friday.
Question: What is Kindergarten Camp?
Answer: Kindergarten Camp is an 8 day camp, morning or afternoon, to prepare your child for kindergarten
in the fall.
Question: How do I pay for classes?
Answer: Your credit card will be billed when registration has been accepted at time of registration for Book
Buddies, Kindergarten Camp and Block Time child care. Your card will be charged at time of registration for
ECFE classes.
Question: Does my child need to be toilet trained to attend classes/child care at the Family Center?
Answer: Your child does not need to be toilet trained to attend classes/child care at the Family Center.
