NICHOLAS WEAVER
Nicholas’ special need is Autism. His current condition is better than when he was first
diagnosed. He is still having some problems with his communication skills. His speech is very limited for a 34 month old. He needs to get his ears checked because he complains of everything being too loud even when it is not. He could have sensory sensitivity associated with Autism.
His future outlook is unknown. He does not do well with transitions, but he will have to go to daycare so his mother can work. His mother has taken him to the sitters a few times, however, Nicholas most likely will not handle this transition well. Once he gets used to his new schedule he should be okay.
Nicholas Weaver’s Special Need
Nichols needs speech therapy to help him become better at communicating. He is on the waiting list to start Head Start when he turns three and they will be able to provide him with the speech therapy he needs.
Right now there are no education requirements for Nicholas. He has never been in a school/day care setting. Once he starts Head Start they will be able to find what works and what doesn’t work for him so that when he starts Kindergarten his transition will be soother.
The biggest adaptation that is needed for Nicholas is stability. He does not handle change well at all. He has to have the same structured environment everyday. His mother does her best but she struggles because she does not have a stable support system to help her.

History of Towles Intermediate School:Towles Intermediate School is named for Dr. Jeff H.
Towles, who served on the Board of School Trustees from 1981 to 1988, a time when the district was heavily involved in desegregation. Dr. Towles was elected president of the School Board in 1987. He was passionate about providing a quality education to all students and helped lay the groundwork for the racial balance plan FWCS eventually adopted. Dr. Towles also served as a well-liked physician in the city. As a surgeon, he helped save the life of civil rights leader Vernon Jordan, who was shot and critically wounded while visiting Fort Wayne in 1980.

Montessori SchoolAs a Montessori school, the curriculum follows
the methods developed by Maria Montessori, who believed children must cultivate their own natural desire to learn to become truly educated individuals who are motivated from within by a natural curiosity and love for knowledge. Classrooms are multi-age and look different than traditional classrooms. Materials are at the child's level and offer a hands-on experience. Students are shown lessons and then work at their own pace. Towles is the only public school with a first- through eighth-grade program in Indiana.

Resources for Abigail Crisis
The family crisis effects several areas of Bronfenbrenner’s TheoryMicrosystem and Exosystem:
The children do not understand what has happened but the stress of the legal issues are apparent to the children. They feel the tension and sadness from their mother. The children will be attending a different child care temporarily and that will affect their normal schedule.
Mesosystem, Macrosystem and Chronosystem:
This can affect the children if they are placed in temporary foster care. With Abigail’s legal issues and loss of income, she may use these services while she sorts out her crisis. The children are of different ages so they will respond differently to the changes even if they are temporary.
Bronfenbrenner’s Theory

Celebration
The Weaver family has lived through many difficult times. Abigail has been trying to raise two children with no help from family or the father. She has been hit with a crisis that can destroy a family but she did not give up. She found and used resources in order to keep her children fed and sheltered. Although some impact has hit her children with the stress of the families situation, Abigail kept her children as her priority and never let the circumstances of life keep her from becoming the mother she always believed her children deserved.
