Bet Class (2nd Grade)

Family History Project We are about to embark on a very special project – the Family History Project! Students will be learning about life long ago and will be doing a little research into their own family history. We will begin working on the project on Sunday, November 15 during class.

You will find an outline/checklist with several assignments that your child will need to complete at home with your help and guidance. As you and your child finish each section, check it off on the checklist and be sure to place it in their folder. We encourage you to include as many copies of photos as possible for their posters. All the materials should be in your child’s folder before Sunday, December 20th. On that Sunday, the children will be creating their poster boards in class.

On January 10th, the students will be presenting their projects to other children in the religious school.

The culmination of the project will be on Friday, February 5, 2016 at the 2nd Grade Bet Class Family Shabbat Dinner and Service. At that time, families will be able to view the exhibition and ask questions. Grandparents, siblings, and extended family are also welcome. Watch the mail for the Shabbat dinner reservation form!!

If you have any questions about the project, please don’t hesitate to contact us!

FAMILY HISTORY ARTIFACT AND PICTURE

Please help your child choose a Judaic artifact from your family. It can be any item that has been in your family for a long time, the more decades the better. Since most of these items are very precious and valuable, please just take a picture of the item and put it in your child’s folder. Along with the artifact, please have your child write a description of the item (see below). They should name the item, tell us approximately how old it is, who it belonged to, what makes it so special and any other important information they may want to share. They could also mention on what Jewish holidays your family uses the item if that applies.
