Summer Help Needed for International Ministry

A wonderful opportunity awaits you on Wednesday nights at 7 p.m. in our newly refurbished Friendship Hall, otherwise called the Gym. Beginning this Wednesday, May 4, we will have fewer volunteers for our Conversational English program. During the school year, college students, primarily from John-son University, supplement the Laurel members who serve as conversation partners. With the end of spring semester upon us, most of these young people will be doing other things for the summer. If you have never tried talking with a very interesting person from another country, now is a great time. You do not have to commit to being there every week. You can begin by sitting in with an ex-perienced person if you would prefer. This is the best time of year to try out this program. The attendance is smaller in the summer, and the whole mood is more relaxed. Newly-arriving International people often visit during the summer to see what's happening. Please help us welcome them! All you have to do is show up on Wednesday nights before 7 p.m. Contact anyone on our ministry team or the church office if you have questions. LYF News Our fundraiser was definitely eventful for the LYF group, especially for the Honduras Mission Team. We raised over $2,800 at our Annual Pie & Dessert Auction. Thanks to Missy Clark & Charlotte Simpson for all of their efforts to make the dinner a success. Also thanks to Kevin & Kim Ross for their work with the live auction. All you parents and students also pitched in to make the event a huge success. Thank you for making the clean-up happen so quickly! It was truly a great day. J.T.
