J.R.R. Tolkien John Ronald Reuel Tolkien was born on January 3, 1892.

He is most famous for writing the Lord of the Rings series and the prequel to the series, The Hobbit.

J.R.R. Tolkien married Edith Mary Bratt at St. Mary Immaculate Roman Catholic Church, Warwick, on 22 March 1916.

The couple had 4 children; John Francis, Michael Hilary, Christopher John, and Priscilla Anne.

Tolkien died on September 2, 1973.
