Fantastic Voyages South Africa & Dubai Tour Friday, October 14‐Sunday, October 30, 2016

HERE IS THE WONDERFUL ITINERARY

FOR YOUR TRIP OF A LIFETIME!

HERE IS THE ITINERARY FOR YOU TO TAKE A LOOK AT!

DAY 1 SUN 16 OCT 2016 ARRIVE CAPE TOWN

Welcome to South Africa! After clearing customs and immigration formalities, you will be met and

transferred to the Protea Hotel Sea Point.

Located a few steps away from the Sea Point Promenade and the Atlantic shoreline, this stylish and

modern three‐star hotel guarantees guests a freshly different experience. Protea Hotel Sea Point is graced with pure comfort and contemporary design. The hotel is ideally situated between the CBD

& Cape Town's finest beaches, and within close proximity to major tourist attractions such as the V&A

Waterfront, which is less than 5km from the hotel. The hotel's most talked about feature is the

interactive lobby and lounge area, as a favorable location for socializing, relaxing or as a work point with I‐pads and 500Mb of complimentary Wi‐Fi available per guest, per day.

The 61 superior rooms are partially sea‐facing with private balcony, ensuite bathroom.

Overnight: Protea Hotel Sea Point

DAY 2 MON 17 OCT 2016 CAPE TOWN (B)

Enjoy a full day tour to the Cape Peninsula and see for yourself why it earned the name "The Fairest

Cape." Our drive takes us first along a stretch of coastline known as Millionaire’s Paradise – from Clifton

to Camps Bay, to the exclusive beach hamlet of Llandudno – towards the charming working harbor of

Hout Bay; if you so choose, you can embark on an up‐close‐and‐personal Seal Island cruise (on your

own). Back on terra firma, we wind along the legendary Chapman’s Peak Drive, hugging the cliffs and

relishing the breathtaking ocean views, before arriving at our lunch spot of choice (on your own): the

wild and beautiful Cape of Good Hope Section of the Table Mountain National Park, an integral part of

the world‐renowned Cape Floral Kingdom. We meander back along the coast towards the City, visiting the historic naval port of Simon’s Town and the endearing penguin colony at Boulder’s Beach. The

Fairest Cape of All, that was Sir Francis Drake’s opinion…and we’re sure you’ll echo it. Overnight: Protea Hotel Sea Point

DAY 3 TUE 18 OCT 2016 CAPE TOWN (B)

Our full day in the winelands is dedicated to celebrating the glorious grape, the exceptional winelands

region, and the heavenly scenery…like the breathtaking views from the historical Taal Monument near

Paarl. The area is rich with history, and we can’t help but feel it as we move through the region to

experience a wine cellar tour, where you’ll learn all about the process of winemaking, from grape to

goblet. We visit the exquisite little town of Franschhoek, pass by the impressive Huguenot Monument,

and in a town with a reputation for gourmet fare, where else could we choose to enjoy lunch (on your

own).

We wind our way to the heady heights of the Helshoogte Mountain Pass to meet the charming

university town of Stellenbosch on the other side. We’ve set aside ample time to stroll through this little

town, absorbing the quaintness, and sneaking into the odd shop or two! A trip to the winelands isn’t

complete without a wine tasting, so we organized two at different wine estates. And of course, you’ll be

able to purchase your favorite wine to take back home!

Overnight: Protea Hotel Sea Point

DAY 4 WED 19 OCT 2016 CAPE TOWN (B)

This morning, tour the “Mother City”. We’ve chosen iconic buildings, snatches of its history, and experiences unique to this City. First up, it’s the cable car to the summit of the legendary Table

Mountain – weather permitting – and from there, you’ll be able to see to the end of our world, including

the City and surrounding layout of this southernmost tip of Africa. We visit the country’s oldest building,

The Castle (closed Sundays), and a short distance away, the Company Gardens, both historically

fascinating and well conserved. Our drive continues past Parliament Buildings, City Hall and the Slave

Lodge, and you’ll sense the depth of history via their distinctive architecture. Colonial then changes to

colorful, as we move up the cobblestoned hills to the Malay Quarter, and marvel at the ice‐cream colors

of the quaint Bo‐Kaap homes.

Your afternoon is at leisure.

Overnight: Protea Hotel Sea Point

DAY 5 THURS 20 OCT 2016 CAPE TOWN‐NKAMBENI SAFARI TENTED CAMP (BLD)

It's off to the bush today as you fly from Cape Town to Mpumalanga, and then continue by road to

Nkambeni Tented Camp, set inside Kruger National Park. Your comfortable tent sits on a permanent

platform with an ensuite bath (both an indoor and outdoor shower). When not out game-viewing, relax

poolside and catch up on your journal entries or watch for wildlife walking by! Enjoy meals in the dining

area overlooking the Kruger National Park.

Overnight: Nkambeni Safari Camp

DAY 6 FRI 21 OCT 2016 NKAMBENI SAFARI TENTED CAMP (BLD)

DAY 7 SAT 22 OCT 2016 NKAMBENI SAFARI TENTED CAMP (BLD)

Enjoy twice daily game drives during your two full days at Nkambeni.

Get your binoculars ready for an outstanding day of game viewing in the park! Kruger National Park

boasts six eco‐systems and more than 517 species of birds. Of these, 253 species are residents in the

park. You'll find all Big Five in Kruger, along with 147 other species of animals. In fact, Kruger National

Park has more species of animals than any other game reserve. Not to be outdone by land animals,

there are also 120 species of reptile, 52 species of fish and 35 species of amphibians!

Keep your animal check list handy as you might spot black rhino, common eland, great kudus, spotted hyenas, waterbucks and perhaps even African wild dog.

Overnight: Nkambeni Safari Camp

DAY 8 SUN 23 OCT 2016 JOHANNESBURG (B)

After breakfast and one final game drive, your motor coach takes you to Johannesburg, arriving late this afternoon.

Overnight: Balaika Johannesburg

The Protea Hotel Balalaika on Maude Street, in Sandton, is located in Johannesburg’s economic

heartland. The hotel’s charming colonial theme is accentuated with wooden elements and delicate floral

accents. The resident pianist conjures images of the hotel’s history, which is celebrated through artwork,

framed press clippings and memorabilia of bygone days.

Each of the 330 classically‐styled rooms make guests feel as though they never left home – with a King-

size bed, LCD television, electronic safe and a full ensuite bathroom with a walk‐in shower.

Complimentary high-speed Wi‐Fi accessible throughout the hotel, and the Wi‐Fi situated in the lobby

provides convenience for guests requiring instant access to the internet.

Being the first original business of Sandton, Balalaika, was established in 1949 as a tea garden rest stop

between Johannesburg and Pretoria. To this day, the hotel’s two sections overlook the luscious gardens

and indigenous trees that enclose the two swimming pools. The English countryside atmosphere defines

this four‐star hotel as a little bit of country in the heart of Sandton. Birdsong makes guests forget that

they are in a bustling metropolis.

The Johannesburg Stock Exchange, Sandton Convention Centre and the city’s most exclusive shopping

mall are a short stroll away. A complimentary shuttle to and from the Gautrain station makes the Balalaika easily accessible. The hotel is only a 15‐minute train ride from O R Tambo International Airport.

Guests are spoiled for choice at the Colony Restaurant’s full buffet breakfast. The Oval Coffee Shop in

the lobby is open throughout the day for snacks and refreshments. The award‐winning Bull Run Restaurant, that adjoins the hotel, is best known for its in‐house butchery that serves cuts of prime,

aged beef alongside its extensive wine selection. After sundown, the Lord’s bar beckons with its array of

imported cigars and a range of cognacs. The open hearth fireplace in the Crown Court Lounge gives the

Balalaika a homely feel. It is ideal for early arrivals or late departures, who can freshen up in the adjacent changing room. The fitness center and steam room are also open 24 hours a day.

DAY 9 MON 24 OCT 2016 JOHANNESBURG (B)

A full day of touring today includes visits to Soweto and the Apartheid Museum.

Our day begins at the Hector Pieterson Museum. The iconic figure of Hector Pieterson being carried by a

fellow student after being shot during the Soweto uprising became a symbol of the fight against the

apartheid government in South Africa. We continue on to Mandela House, where you can visit the small

museum (on your own). Nelson Mandela and his family lived here from 1946 to the mid 1990's. The

house has been carefully restored to match the authentic structural form of the house. The stories of the Mandela family are told through sound and film.

Our next significant stop is the fascinating Regina Mondi Church, site of so many of the underground

meetings of the then banned political parties. Standing in here, you can feel the tension, picture the

intensity, the strain on the faces of those unthinkably brave souls, committed at any cost to changing

the way of life of a nation.

Stop for lunch (on your own) at a local Soweto restaurant before continuing on to the legendary

Apartheid Museum.

Opened in 2001, the Apartheid Museum has been acknowledged as the pre‐eminent museum in the

world on 20th century South Africa. There are a series of 22 exhibits within the museum, which take

the visitor through a dramatic journey of the history of apartheid ‐ the state-sanctioned system which

was based on racial discrimination.
